2026 4-star small forward will take OV to Texas A&M in late August

USA Today2 days ago
New Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan has been on a roll this summer after landing 10 players from the transfer portal, and international Spanish star shooter Rubén Domínguez over the past three months. Currently, the Aggies are expected to compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, given the talent and experience on the 2025 roster, despite being a completely new team.
On the recruiting trail, McMillan has already made a dent in the 2026 recruiting class and has been much more active compared to former head coach Buzz Williams, who relied on the transfer portal year after year to build each roster. While that worked for the most part, he never truly developed young prospects outside of the program's all-time leading scorer, Wade Taylor IV.
While he has yet to land a 2026 commit, the offers, and future visits have continued to flow, including Wednesday's news that 2026 four-star small forward Trent Perry will take an official visit to College Station by the end of the summer during the opening weekend of Texas A&M's 2025 football season on August 29-30.
Like Kannon Torres stated above, Perry is one of the better downhill scorers, and his time at the prestigious Link Academy makes him ready to play at the next level due to the elite competition he is already facing. Again, this is just scratching the surface for McMillan and his staff, but it's a solid start nonetheless.
According to 247Sports, Perry is currently positioned as the 58th-ranked small forward and the 7th-ranked prospect in Missouri.

New Knicks signing Guerschon Yabusele speaks on why he joined team

Guerschon Yabusele thinks he'll fit right in with his new team. In an interview with SKWEEK, the Knicks' newest addition sounded off on why he took his talents to the Big Apple. 'I think the Knicks was a great decision,' Yabusele said. 'I feel like their team really matched my DNA. To fight, to play hard, to be kind of like the underdogs who go and fight every night.' Yabusele, 29, added that he was impressed by the Knicks' team chemistry last season. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect 'It's a couple of teams that we played against, and I was looking at them like 'Oh my god, this team plays good together.' They're a good team. I can tell it's a good group of guys,' he said. The 6-foot-8 Frenchman was drafted 16th overall by the Celtics in 2016, but appeared in just 74 games over two seasons before heading to Europe. Yabusele's excellent play during the 2024 Paris Olympics for the French national team helped him return to the NBA on a deal with the 76ers. In 70 games for Philadelphia last season, Yabusele averaged 11 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting a solid 50.1 percent overall and 38 percent from deep. Prior to re-joining the NBA, Yabusele was one of the best basketball players in all of Europe. He spent three seasons in Real Madrid from 2021-2024 and starred on a 2023 team that won the EuroLeague Championship, the most prestigious basketball title outside of the NBA. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Yabusele also won a Spanish ACB league title in 2024 and 2022 with Madrid, a league considered to be among the best domestically outside of America. His return to the league landed him a two-year deal with the Knicks worth roughly $12 million with a player option in the second season. Yabusele is expected to get major minutes in the Knicks' frontcourt rotation behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson. 'I can't wait to start,' he said during the interview. 'It's the right place at the right time.' In addition to bringing in Yabusele, the Knicks also named Mike Brown the franchise's new head coach and signed veteran guard Jordan Clarkson to a free agent deal.

Update on top Clemson target, 5-star EDGE recruit Bryce Perry-Wright commitment decision

A big decision from a prized five-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class has the Clemson Tigers and other schools playing the waiting game. Five-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright is set to announce his commitment Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. A 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman out of Buford High School in Georgia, Perry-Wright has long been viewed as a favorite to sign with Clemson. But a late push from Texas A&M and second-year coach Mike Elko this week has added some last-minute drama and could throw a wrench into the Tigers' hopes. On Wednesday, On3/Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction that the Peach State star would sign with Texas A&M. On Friday, though, Rivals' Texas-based recruiting analyst Cody Carpentier gave a different projection. In his updated "FUTURECAST" outlook, Carpentier has Perry-Wright committing to Clemson. The Texas Longhorns and Clemson's ACC rival Miami Hurricanes are also in the mix for Perry-Wright, who ranks as the No. 32 overall recruit in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting class rankings. He is the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman in 247Sports' rankings, while On3 ranks him the No. 5 lineman and No. 33 overall recruit. Perry-Wright is the No. 5 overall player in the state of Georgia, per 247Sports, which gave him a crystal ball projection to commit to Clemson back on May 29 before Texas A&M began making its push. Perry-Wright's commitment ceremony will be streamed live on CBS Sports HQ and YouTube Saturday. Clemson football recruiting 2026 Clemson added five recruits to its 2026 class in the month of June: four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil (Clayton, North Carolina), four-star EDGE Dre Quinn (Buford, Georgia), three-star defensive lineman JR Hardrick (South Pittsburg, Tennessee), and four-star offensive linemen Leo Delaney and Carter Scruggs. On3 and 247Sports both rank Clemson's 2026 recruiting class in the top 10, at No. 9 and 10, respectively. At last update, ESPN ranked the Tigers with the nation's No. 6 overall class with 11 ESPN 300 recruits. FIFA Honors Diogo Jota and His Brother Before Club World Cup Quarterfinal

FIFA paid tribute to Liverpool player Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, before kickoff at the Club World Cup quarterfinal between Al Hilal and Fluminense at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Friday. Players formed a circle at midfield as the video board displayed a photo of the Portuguese soccer players. The crowd participated in a moment of silence. Jota, 28, and his brother, André Silva, 25, were found dead near Zamora in northwestern Spain after the Lamborghini they were driving crashed on an isolated stretch of highway just after midnight on Thursday and burst into flames. Spanish police are investigating the cause of the crash, which did not involve another vehicle, they said. They said they believe it could have been caused by a blown tire. Jota's death occurred two weeks after he married longtime partner Rute Cardoso while on vacation following a long season when he helped Liverpool win the Premier League. The couple had three children, with the youngest born last year. Silva played for the Portuguese club Penafiel in the lower divisions.
