Logies 2025: Kate Miller-Heidke on her first nomination and new coaches on The Voice
Kate Miller-Heidke has gone from performing at the Logies two years ago to being nominated for a prestigious award as a coach on The Voice. The 43-year-old singer, who grew up in Brisbane 'far away from the showbiz world', said she was 'absolutely chuffed' to be nominated for her first Logie in the most popular new talent category. She is up for the award alongside Guy Montgomery from his ABC spelling bee series, Home and Away's Hailey Pinto, Jenny Tian from Taskmaster, Kylah Day for her role in Netflix show Territory and MasterChef's Sofia Levin. The winners will be announced at Sunday's ceremony in Sydney. The Caught in the Crowd singer said she felt like a bit of a 'fraud' to be nominated as a new talent nearly 20 years after her first album and TV appearance. 'TV is not my world. As a musician, it was something entirely new for me when I started on The Voice last year, but it's just been so much fun and such a gift to my life,' she said. 'It's just amazing to be embraced by this new world.' While it's her first nomination, attending the Logies isn't her first rodeo, having sung Olivia Newton-John's Xanadu at the event two years ago as a tribute to the late star. She was also in attendance last year when The Voice took out the best entertainment program award. 'I love it. Personally, I think it's much more fun than the ARIAs,' she said. 'The after-party is pretty amazing. There are just so many interesting people and a really eclectic mix of people who write shows and create shows, actors and comedians and people in the news.' Miller-Heidke said it would be 'incredible' if she won, but was 'keeping my expectations low'. The classically trained singer will enter another season of The Voice this year alongside a slew of new judges, including Ronan Keating, Spice Girls' Melanie C and Richard Marx. 'I was nervous to meet them all at first, because I was the only returning coach (and only Australian),' she said. 'I always have a bit of imposter syndrome when it comes to meeting these massive stars, because, you know, I'm just this little Australian singer-songwriter. And I'm sure they're thinking, 'Who the hell is this?' But they were all so warm and so lovely. We all became really great friends. 'I was incredibly star struck by Mel C, I grew up in the era of the Spice Girls, so that was massive. And I was a massive fan of Richard and Ronan's. And Ronan is just the most lovely, charming man you'll ever come across.' Despite all the coaches getting on and bringing the good vibes, Miller-Heidke said she definitely felt former coach Guy Sebastian's absence. 'It did feel sort of like the end of an era in that way, because he really sort of dominated that show for so long,' she said. Miller-Heidke said she loved being involved in the hit show due to its dedication to live music. 'I love being able to work with young artists and help them to realise what their strengths are,' she said. 'Some of them are just incredible. And I also love being part of a show that's one of the only shows on TV that still has live music.' While she is a mentor for aspiring singers, Miller-Heidke has found herself searching for her own mentors as she gets older. 'I think it can be invaluable,' she said. 'I've been lucky enough to have Tina Arena on speed dial for a few years now. She's always up for a good chat.' Away from The Voice, Miller-Heidke has been in the UK mixing her new record, which she hoped would be released at the end of the year. She also wrote songs for Muriel's Wedding the Musical, which just opened in Leicester to rave reviews.

Disgraced TV host Peter Everett breaks silence after being charged with sexually touching teenage boy without consent
Former Ready Steady Cook host Peter Everett has broken his silence after he was charged with sexually touching a teenage boy without consent. The TV host was accused of the offence relating to a 16-year-old boy, alleged to have occurred in the Central Coast town of Toukley last Friday. He was subsequently required to report for bail at Waverley Police Station in Sydney's east, where he stopped to speak to media on Tuesday. "I am holding up as well as possible," Everett told Daily Mail Australia. "My solicitor has advised me not to speak, but I am pleading not guilty." Everett first attempted to evade a waiting media pack by driving around Sydney's east for two hours before returning to make the statement. Mandatory interim conditions, including bans on assaulting, threatening, stalking, harassing or intimidating the alleged victim, remain in place. Meanwhile, police on Monday sought an Apprehended Violence Order against Everett on behalf of a third party identified as 'MD'. The matter will be heard at Wyong Local Court on Thursday. Everett fronted Sydney's Parramatta Court on Saturday, where the fallen TV star pleaded not guilty and denied the sexual touching allegations. He was granted bail with strict conditions, which include reporting to the police station twice a week. Everett was arrested and spent Friday evening incarcerated before appearing in court the following day. A NSW Police spokesperson told officers were investigating the alleged sexual touching of the 16-year-old boy. "Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 66-year-old man at a home at Toukley," the spokesperson said. "The man was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with sexually touch another person without consent." Everett was sacked from the Australian adaptation of Ready Steady Cook in 2011, a competition show that features two teams, each consisting of a chef and a guest, competing to prepare meals using given ingredients. He was about to board a plane for an overseas holiday when he received a call from Rory Callaghan, former CEO of Southern Star Productions (Endemol Shine Australia), informing him he was not to return to the show. The TV host opened up about the matter in 2019 and said Callaghan told him during the phone call he thought he was "greater than the show." "I had no idea what that meant," he told "I think it meant I thought I was so indispensable and that they couldn't do the show without me." "I said, 'I am a large part of the show, but I just want the best for the show'." Callaghan defended his decision, telling TV Tonight Network Ten had "reached a point" where production needed to progress without Everett. "It was a hard production with him, so it was time to move on," he said. Everett hosted the show five years after he took over the reins from Nick Stratford in 2006. He went on to transform it from a low-rated show into a commercial success, with the program nominated for three Logies during his tenure. Comedian Colin Lane next replaced Everett, who in 2023 launched a fiery spray at Channel 10 for not inviting him back to the 2024 reboot. Everett admitted to being like a spoiled child at being snubbed for the hosting role, which was handed to Chef Miguel Maestre. "I was like a three-year-old for a couple of days, who constantly asks, "Why, why, why?'" he told New Idea. "They didn't approach me for some reason. Who knows why? It's a shame."

Samantha Armytage rejected by former employer Seven after appealing for 2025 Logie Awards role - as her hunky date on the night is revealed
Ex-Sunrise host Samantha Armytage's appeal for a role at the 2025 Logie Awards has reportedly been brutally rejected by her former employer Channel Seven. Armytage, 48, stepped down from Seven last August following 21 years with the network, after she declined a new contract. She was subsequently unveiled as the host of Nine's new dating show The Golden Bachelor in November during the network's annual upfronts. Armytage's former employer has held the broadcasting rights to the annual Logie awards for the past two years. It's during this time viewers have accused the network of favouring their own talent over others. And unfortunately for Armytage, it seems the trend has caught up to her. Sunday Confidential reported Nine put her forward to present an award at the Logies this weekend, however the move was reportedly quickly shut down by organisers of the annual ceremony. It comes as relations between Armytage and Seven appear to have deteriorated after she threw the ultimate dig at her old bosses with an appearance on Sunrise's competitor Today, last October. Armytage took to Instagram stories and shared a selfie alongside Today hosts Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Alex Cullen, and Jayne Azzopardi. 'This morning, I woke up she captioned the image. Just days earlier, she told 2GB she quit breaky central to helm Farmer Wants a Wife because her career had effectively run its course at Seven. 'I'd had enough, and you know I like a good horse metaphor — I'd ridden it to the top, I'd done all I could do and it was good time to step out," she said. The TV veteran will nevertheless be in attendance at the glitzy Logie Awards evening alongside a handsome date, the Golden Bachelor himself. Armytage and the star of the programme, Barry 'Bear' Myrden, will strut into the event arm in arm in a scene which is sure to cause a media stir. It appears that is the aim of the stunt, according to a The Daily Telegraph insider who said the move will showcase Barry publicly. 'They will use the night to debut Bear for the first time,' the source said. The frosty relations between Amytage and Seven raises the question — who will stand up to accept the award for Best Structured Reality Program if Farmer Wants A Wife were to claim the gong? Armytage fronted the series for three years, including in 2024 when the show also earned a Logies nod. Natalie Gruzlewski reclaimed the hosting reins in 2025, during which time the show was outpaced in the ratings by Nine's popular game show, The Floor. This year, the programme is competing against Ten's Gogglebox Australia, Nine's Married At First Sight, ABC's Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies, Ten's Shark Tank Australia Binge/ Foxtel's The Real Housewives of Sydney. Armytage will make her first major return to the spotlight on Sunday after splitting from her husband of four years, Richard Lavender, last December. The news shocked some industry insiders after the TV host quit Sunrise to live at Lavender's 40-hectare estate in NSW's Southern Highlands. It is understood she has since returned to Sydney's eastern suburbs.

Logies 2025: MAFS, The Block, MKR and more stars not invited in major snub
The 65th Annual TV Week Logie Awards are exactly one week away, with the ceremony set to recognise some of the most popular actors, presenters, and television personalities for their work over the past year. The nominees include well-known names and programs across multiple networks and streaming services; however, not everyone has been invited to attend the prestigious event. Despite being some of the most recognisable faces on Australian TV and delivering enormous ratings for their respective shows, a large majority of reality TV participants have been snubbed. Here's which of your favourite reality stars you can expect to see on the red carpet next Sunday, and who will be watching from home. Married At First Sight While it was a guarantee in previous years that Married At First Sight participants would be in attendance, Jamie Marinos tells Yahoo Lifestyle that no one from this season's cast has received an invite. 'To be honest, I felt like there was all this talk that we were gonna get invited, but I just didn't trust it, so I actually booked a trip to Europe and I'm doing my own kind of publicity tour in London,' she shares. RELATED: Logies 2025 nominations break tradition with historic moment: 'Amazing' Gold Logie nominees reveal wild campaign strategies: 'Battalion' Radio star's explosive on-air outburst after Logies snub: 'Talentless losers' 'None of us were bloody invited. That's sad for everyone else at the Logies, because we know how to turn up at any kind of dinner party event. It's a shame because I know the rest of the cast probably would have been looking forward to it too. I would have loved to have gone to the Logies with everyone.' It's understood that relationship experts John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla will be in attendance to represent the show, which is what they did last year after the season 11 cast was also snubbed. The Block Similarly to MAFS, the teams from last year's milestone twentieth season of The Block also missed out on an invite, with Scott Cam, Shelley Craft, and the show's judges expected to attend in their place 'Unfortunately, we haven't received an invite to the Logies,' Ricky Recard tells us. 'If The Block bosses and Channel 9 can fit us on their invite list, I'm sure they will. With so many amazing people involved in the show, from Julian Cress, Scotty Cam, Shelley Craft and too many more for me to mention, it must be so hard to invite everyone along to such a special night.' Despite the 'snub', Ricky says he feels 'privileged' and 'incredibly grateful' to have been a part of the series, and he will be cheering the team on from home. 'I have no doubt the team will bring home the Logie for Best Competition Reality Program, and if they do, to be part of that I'll always hold close to my heart. I love my Block family,' he remarks. The Real Housewives of Sydney This year marks the first time The Real Housewives of Sydney have been nominated for the Logies; however, Victoria Montano tells us that none of the cast members have been invited. 'My understanding is that when the news broke, a few cast members contacted production to ask who was going to attend the Logies. I didn't contact production at all when the news broke - I was under no misconceptions about the fact they would prioritise themselves over the stars of the show. The ladies, who for almost no pay at all, open their lives to the public so that production can make money from our lives,' she shares. My Kitchen Rules Yahoo Lifestyle understands that none of the teams from the recent season of My Kitchen Rules have been asked to attend the Logies, and judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge will instead represent the series on the red carpet. This doesn't bother 2024 champion Simone Preste at all, as he will be busy working on his new business venture. 'We won't be able to attend the event as we'll be opening our second restaurant location at Westfield Chermside next week,' he tells us. 'But with all my heart, I hope MKR takes home the award, fingers crossed!' MasterChef MasterChef judges Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin will definitely be in attendance as they are both first-time nominees, with Poh up for the Gold Logie and Sofia up for Most Popular New Talent. Previous years have seen the show's most recent winner and runner-up in attendance; however, Josh 'Pezza' Perry says he hasn't been contacted. 'I hope they do well at the Logies. It was a great show to be a part of, but I only came second and [I'm] a guy from Tassie, so I'm forgotten about fairly fast, I think,' he tells us. 'But I like that because that's who l am and I probably didn't suit what they wanted.' Farmer Wants A Wife It's unknown who, if anyone, will be in attendance to support Farmer Wants A Wife, as host Natalie Gruzlewski hasn't walked the red carpet since 2014 and none of last year's farmers have been invited. 'I don't think I'm going; they haven't contacted me about it at all,' Farmer Bert Harris tells us. 'No doubt the producers will be the ones going!' Australian Survivor The same can be said for Australian Survivor, with Jonathan LaPaglia unlikely to attend after he was recently fired from the series, and winner Myles Kuah not on the guest list. 'I'm not going to the Logies, but I'm hopeful for a Survivor win,' he tells us. Australian Idol One reality star who will be walking the red carpet is this year's Australian Idol winner, Marshall Hamburger. The 19-year-old will be joined by the show's host, Ricki-Lee Coulter, who is nominated for Most Popular Presenter. 'I am honestly so excited to attend my first Logies ever, and a little nervous as well!' he tells us. 'I have to say I am very excited to hear Jimmy Barnes sing. I've never seen him perform live before, so seeing him in person is going to be a huge honour! I'm also excited to hopefully see some of the crew from Idol, such as Ricki-Lee, the judges, and the production crew as well. 'As for my outfit, I am stuck between an '80s style Farnham look, or a Bruno Mars Silk Sonic look! Who knows what I'll end up wearing though.' Travel Guides Also in attendance will be the cast of Channel 9's Travel Guides, who have won the Logie for Best Lifestyle Program three years running. Cast member and former Beauty and the Geek runner-up Bri Auty tells Yahoo Lifestyle she is hopeful the series will be able to take home another win. 'I'll be there with bells on,' she remarks. 'We got nominated again for Best Lifestyle Program, so hopefully we win again for the fourth year in a row. All of us will be there!'
