is an editor of the Southern California/Southwest region, who covers the evolving landscape of LA's food scene. Liu's Creamery, an extension of Hong Kong and Taiwanese bakery and cafe Liu's, is closing at the beginning of August after about eight months in the neighborhood. The ice cream spot, which started scooping in January 2025, will have its last day of business on August 3. Liu's Creamery, located right next door to Liu's Cafe, serves Asian-inflected ice cream, including Taiwan milk tea, honey toast, and ginger pear. Pastry chef Isabell Manibusan, who also oversees desserts at Liu's Cafe and modern Korean restaurant Danbi, developed the menu for Liu's Creamery. The closure was announced in an Instagram post on July 24. Liu's Creamery will operate from Friday through Sunday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., until its closure. Liu's Cafe will not be affected by the closure. Though the closure is a loss for the neighborhood, the post promises that something 'exciting' will take its place soon. SF Gate visits Tomat For SF Gate, Karen Palmer writes of a recent visit to Tomat, a London-inspired restaurant on the outskirts of LAX. Does the Torrance hospital really have a great breakfast burrito? A breakfast burrito from the Torrance hospital has been making the rounds on TikTok and Reddit, with some claiming that it is among the best in LA. Yusra Farzan went to investigate for LAist and found that while the burrito was a good deal at $7, and was overall very solid, it may not quite be the best in the region. Summer collaborations at the Benjamin The next two collaborations for the Benjamin's With Friends dinner series just dropped. On August 10, chefs Michael and Bryan Voltaggio will revisit dishes from Michael's restaurant, Ink. On August 26, Andrew and Michelle Muñoz of Moo's Craft Barbecue will serve dishes that blend Texas barbecue with the Benjamin's bistro sensibilities. A fundraiser for Indivisible Arts Notable Los Angeles barman Matthew Biancaniello will embark on a 21-mile swim from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes on September 25. The GoFundMe effort is to raise funds for Indivisible Arts, a nonprofit that supports underserved youth. To deal with losing his restaurant in the Woolsey Fire, back surgery, and personal loss, Biancaniello has found relief through ocean swims. — Mona Holmes, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest Eater LA All your essential food and restaurant intel delivered to you Email (required) Sign Up By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice . From One Floor To A Rs 30 Crore Fortress: Inside Anil Kapoor's European-Style Juhu Abode

Last Updated: Anil Kapoor's Juhu house is made from years of his hardwork and love. The European style house is a testament of love and legacy. Anil Kapoor's journey from a struggling actor to a Bollywood icon is no secret, but what many may not know is that his most cherished project wasn't on a film set, but within the walls of his family home in Mumbai's Juhu. The actor, known for his enduring energy and timeless appeal, once made a silent promise to himself: he would only propose to long-time partner Sunita Kapoor when he could afford a house of his own. Decades later, that promise stands tall as the Kapoors now own the entire building where their story began. In an interview with Asian Paints' Where the Heart Is, Anil recalled the early days of their life together. After co-producing the TV show Hum Paanch with his brother Boney Kapoor, Anil saved enough to purchase his first apartment in the building he still calls home. It was a defining moment – marked not just by ownership, but by fatherhood. 'When Sonam was born, we stepped into this house for the first time," he reminisced. 'Every brick of this place holds my blood, sweat, and years of struggle. There's no shortcut, just sheer hard work." From One Floor to an Entire Building What began as a modest single-floor purchase eventually transformed into a four-storey private residence. 'People convert bungalows into buildings; I did the opposite," Anil quipped. As his career soared, he bought the remaining floors one by one, turning his apartment into an urban sanctuary layered with warmth and memory. Timeless Charm Meets Sacred Corners Anil and Sunita's home is a masterclass in understated elegance. The entrance is intimate yet grand, framed with lush foliage and antique artefacts. One of the most beloved spots in the house is their serene temple corner – a small sanctum featuring a framed idol of Lord Ganesha and a traditional seating area for prayers, creating an aura of spiritual calm amid a bustling city. The home's pièce de résistance is Anil's personal den – a London-inspired escape styled with European accents. Renaissance-era paintings, a vintage chandelier, and a rich colour palette add a regal warmth to the space. Large Maharaja sofas and a circular wooden table evoke comfort with sophistication. The rooftop terrace, meanwhile, is a tropical dream. It houses patio furniture, a sleek bar counter, and a skyline view, making it perfect for intimate gatherings or quiet family evenings. An in-house gym keeps the ever-youthful star's fitness routine on track. Property Value and Global Footprint Valued at approximately Rs 30 crore in 2000, Anil Kapoor's Juhu residence now spans around 10,000 sq ft. According to GQ and Lifestyle Asia, the actor's net worth stands at Rs 134 crore. He also owns prime properties in London, Dubai, and Southern California. A Modern Contrast: Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor's Sleek Bachelor Pad A short walk from Anil's bungalow lies his son Harsh Varrdhan 's sea-facing apartment – a strikingly modern space that reflects the new-age aesthetic of Bollywood's next-gen. Minimalist and tech-forward, Harsh's home features dark tones, wall-to-wall DVDs, and an integrated projector screen that turns his living room into a private cinema. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor (@harshvarrdhankapoor) top videos View all What truly sets Harsh's space apart? A dedicated room for his extensive sneaker collection – every pair meticulously arranged in what can only be described as a sneakerhead's dream. And with a sprawling balcony that opens out to the Arabian Sea, the apartment blends indulgence with introspection. The Kapoor residences may be worlds apart in design, but they share the same emotional DNA – heritage, purpose, and personality. One is a living chronicle of decades-long hustle and love; the other, a contemporary ode to passion and individuality. Together, they stand as powerful reflections of a family that continues to evolve across generations and design philosophies. Bagzone Lifestyles Launches Akiki London, Redefining Contemporary Luxury

Bagzone Lifestyles Pvt. Ltd., a long-established name in the accessories industry, announces its boldest move yet with the launch of Akiki London — a contemporary luxury handbag brand that brings together heritage craftsmanship, modern design, and meaningful self-expression. Drawing its name from Agate, a gemstone known for its layered elegance and resilience, Akiki reflects the multifaceted spirit of women who value beauty with purpose. The brand's debut collection delivers refined handbags that transcend fleeting trends, crafted for women who define luxury through individuality rather than price tags. Akiki's identity is deeply rooted in London's cultural diversity, channeling the city's timeless sophistication and edge into every design. Each handbag blends global aesthetics with artisanal precision, created in collaboration with expert partners across Europe and Asia. Despite its luxury positioning, Akiki promises accessibility by eliminating the traditional luxury markup — offering premium craftsmanship without compromise. Adding a vibrant, emotional layer to the brand is KIKI, a British Bulldog mascot that serves as Akiki's expressive brand muse. KIKI will appear across campaigns and in-store displays as a symbol of the brand's bold, confident personality, forging a deeper connection with its audience. Speaking on the launch, Mr. Nishant Bakliwal, Head – Digital & Communications at Bagzone, stated: 'Akiki enters a space largely underserved by traditional luxury – handbags designed not just for work or utility, but for moments that matter. These are statement pieces made for impact, merging heritage and innovation for today's discerning woman.' The launch of Akiki London signifies Bagzone's evolution from an accessible fashion player to a visionary in the modern luxury segment. With this shift, the company strengthens its commitment to thoughtful design, authenticity, and long-lasting quality. Akiki London's debut collection is now available on its digital-first platform: Physical retail expansion is on the horizon, with flagship stores planned in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai, followed by an ambitious goal of 100 stores in the next five years. These stores will offer an immersive brand experience, reflecting Akiki's London-inspired identity and refined aesthetic.
