Anil Kapoor's Juhu house is made from years of his hardwork and love. The European style house is a testament of love and legacy.
Anil Kapoor's journey from a struggling actor to a Bollywood icon is no secret, but what many may not know is that his most cherished project wasn't on a film set, but within the walls of his family home in Mumbai's Juhu. The actor, known for his enduring energy and timeless appeal, once made a silent promise to himself: he would only propose to long-time partner Sunita Kapoor when he could afford a house of his own. Decades later, that promise stands tall as the Kapoors now own the entire building where their story began.
In an interview with Asian Paints' Where the Heart Is, Anil recalled the early days of their life together. After co-producing the TV show Hum Paanch with his brother Boney Kapoor, Anil saved enough to purchase his first apartment in the building he still calls home. It was a defining moment – marked not just by ownership, but by fatherhood. 'When Sonam was born, we stepped into this house for the first time," he reminisced. 'Every brick of this place holds my blood, sweat, and years of struggle. There's no shortcut, just sheer hard work."
From One Floor to an Entire Building
What began as a modest single-floor purchase eventually transformed into a four-storey private residence. 'People convert bungalows into buildings; I did the opposite," Anil quipped. As his career soared, he bought the remaining floors one by one, turning his apartment into an urban sanctuary layered with warmth and memory.
Timeless Charm Meets Sacred Corners
Anil and Sunita's home is a masterclass in understated elegance. The entrance is intimate yet grand, framed with lush foliage and antique artefacts. One of the most beloved spots in the house is their serene temple corner – a small sanctum featuring a framed idol of Lord Ganesha and a traditional seating area for prayers, creating an aura of spiritual calm amid a bustling city.
The home's pièce de résistance is Anil's personal den – a London-inspired escape styled with European accents. Renaissance-era paintings, a vintage chandelier, and a rich colour palette add a regal warmth to the space. Large Maharaja sofas and a circular wooden table evoke comfort with sophistication.
The rooftop terrace, meanwhile, is a tropical dream. It houses patio furniture, a sleek bar counter, and a skyline view, making it perfect for intimate gatherings or quiet family evenings. An in-house gym keeps the ever-youthful star's fitness routine on track.
Property Value and Global Footprint
Valued at approximately Rs 30 crore in 2000, Anil Kapoor's Juhu residence now spans around 10,000 sq ft. According to GQ and Lifestyle Asia, the actor's net worth stands at Rs 134 crore. He also owns prime properties in London, Dubai, and Southern California.
A Modern Contrast: Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor's Sleek Bachelor Pad
A short walk from Anil's bungalow lies his son Harsh Varrdhan 's sea-facing apartment – a strikingly modern space that reflects the new-age aesthetic of Bollywood's next-gen. Minimalist and tech-forward, Harsh's home features dark tones, wall-to-wall DVDs, and an integrated projector screen that turns his living room into a private cinema.

What truly sets Harsh's space apart? A dedicated room for his extensive sneaker collection – every pair meticulously arranged in what can only be described as a sneakerhead's dream. And with a sprawling balcony that opens out to the Arabian Sea, the apartment blends indulgence with introspection.
The Kapoor residences may be worlds apart in design, but they share the same emotional DNA – heritage, purpose, and personality. One is a living chronicle of decades-long hustle and love; the other, a contemporary ode to passion and individuality. Together, they stand as powerful reflections of a family that continues to evolve across generations and design philosophies.

Filmistan Studios sold for Rs 183 crore, AICWA urges Devendra Fadnavis to stop redevelopment into luxury towers: 'Save the livelihoods of lakhs of workers'

Filmistan Studios, one of Mumbai's oldest and most iconic film studios, has been officially sold to Arkade Developers for Rs 183 crore. The transaction was registered on July 3, marking the end of an era for a studio that helped shape the golden age of Hindi cinema. Once a thriving base for actors, technicians, and production houses, the Goregaon West property is now set to be redeveloped into ultra-luxury residential towers. Founded in 1943 by Sasadhar Mukherjee, grandfather to Kajol and Rani Mukerji , along with actor Ashok Kumar, Gyan Mukherjee, and Rai Bahadur Chunilal, Filmistan Studios emerged from a split with Bombay Talkies and quickly became a cornerstone of Hindi filmmaking. Back in the day, studios like Filmistan weren't just shooting spaces, they were full-fledged production houses employing actors and crew on monthly salaries. AICWA urges Devendra Fadnavis to intervene In the wake of the acquisition, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written an open letter to Maharashtra's CM Devendra Fadnavis, urging him to halt the demolition and protect what they call a 'symbol of cinematic legacy.' The association has called for a Government Resolution (G.R.) to preserve the studio as a public cultural asset. Dharmesh Yelande Spotted At Filmistan Studio The association further warned that the loss of Filmistan, and other heritage studios at risk, would severely impact employment opportunities for daily wage workers, technicians, and artists who form the backbone of the entertainment industry. 'This is not just a fight to save land—it is a fight to protect dignity, heritage, and the livelihood of the backbone of our industry. Filmistan Studio was built with the blood, sweat, and dedication of workers... Unfortunately, the current owners have chosen profit over people.' Filmistan Studios to be turned into luxury towers Following the acquisition, Arkade Developers announced plans to redevelop the four-acre SV Road plot into a high-end residential project. The project will reportedly feature 3, 4, and 5 BHK residences and exclusive penthouses across two 50-storey towers. With a projected gross development value of Rs 3,000 crore, the project is slated for a tentative launch in 2026. Known for its sound stages, outdoor sets, and central location, Filmistan was once a go-to destination for Bollywood films, television shows, and ad shoots. However, with newer, tech-equipped studios sprouting across the city, Filmistan gradually fell out of favour.

High court reserves order on Kangana Ranaut's tweet drama

Bathinda: After almost three years of legal back-and-forth, the Punjab and Haryana high court has reserved its verdict on a petition filed by Hindi cinema actor-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut, who is challenging a defamation case stemming from her controversial tweet during the year 2020-21 farmer protests. A high court bench reserved the order on July 3 after concluding arguments in the matter. Ranaut, now an MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, had filed the petition to quash summons issued by a Bathinda court in 2022 under sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The defamation complaint was filed by Mahinder Kau (73) r of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda district, alleging that Ranaut had defamed her in a tweet by identifying her wrongly as Bilkis Bano of Shaheen Bagh fame and implying that such women could be hired to protest for Rs 100. The tweet, which was later deleted, targeted Mahinder Kaur during her participation in the farmers' agitation at Delhi's borders. On Feb 22, 2022, Bathinda judicial magistrate Tanvi Gupta issued initial summons for Ranaut to appear on April 19, 2022. When she did not respond, fresh summons were issued for July 14, 2022, to be delivered via Bathinda SSP. Before the hearing, Ranaut moved the high court, arguing that the trial court had misapplied Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Her legal team also claimed she had merely retweeted content posted originally by one "Adhivakta Gautam Yadav", who was not named as an accused in the complaint — raising questions about the complainant's intent. Mahinder Kaur's counsel, Raghbir Singh Behniwal, said the trial court had set July 11 as the next hearing date pending the high court's ruling.
