Dozens of firefighters called to battle blaze ripping through building as locals warned ‘keep windows closed'
A MASSIVE fire erupted at a building under renovation in Sidcup - with Londoners being told to shut their windows following the huge blaze. The entire ground floor, first floor and roof of a shop with flats above it on Blackfen Road was engulfed by a terrifying inferno, London Fire Brigade confirmed. He warned: "Please keep your windows and doors closed if you live or work in the vicinity. The Fire Brigade said that the flaming property's "first floor collapsed". And they confirmed that there had been no reported injuries. They service said: "The Brigade's Control Officers took nearly 30 calls to the fire and mobilised crews from Eltham, Lee Green, Sidcup, East Greenwich and surrounding fire stations to the scene. Overnight fire in Old East Village deemed suspicious
London fire crews were called to a home on Dufferin Avenue in the early morning hours of July 18, 2025. (Source: London fire) A residential fire in Old East Village, which kept crews busy overnight, has been deemed suspicious by police. Around 3 a.m. firefighters responded to the two-storey home on Dufferin Avenue near Quebec street. According to London fire, the home was 'fully involved' and an aggressive attack was initiated, with multiple units on scene. Nearby residences were evacuated as a precaution. The fire was declared out a few hours later but due to the extensive damage, one truck is staying at the scene to monitor for hotspots. Dufferin Avenue is completely blocked between Ontario and Quebec streets. A fire prevention officer is on the scene to determine the cause. There is no indication if anybody was home at the time of the blaze. No injuries have been reported and the cost of damage is unknown. Police continue to investigate.

Wind, tree take down hydro lines in west London
London Hydro crews are working to restore power after a tree came down while being cut and wind blew down some power lines. July 17, 2025. According to London fire, The tree came down when someone was cutting it. Eastbound traffic on Riverside is blocked between Wilson Avenue an Belton Street.
