Beauregard firefighter dies in crash responding to call
Associated Press Archives Special to the American Press A volunteer firefighter from DeRidder died as the result of crash that happened while he was responding to an emergency call for service. The crash happened early Tuesday morning. Shortly after 4 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating the single-vehicle crash on Scallon Road south of La. 26 in Beauregard Parish. The crash claimed the life of 23-year-old Beauregard Parish volunteer fire fighter Jonathan Ashworth. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ashworth was driving a 2017 Ford F-150 west on Scallon Road while responding to an emergency call. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford traveled off the roadway to the left while in a curve and struck multiple trees. Ashworth sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Due to the severity of the damage, restraint use for Ashworth is still being determined. A passenger in the vehicle, who was properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries. A routine toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Eunice woman killed in single-vehicle crash
Associated Press Archives A 36-year-old Eunice woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Jeff Davis Parish. According to Louisiana State Police Troop D, the incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Monday on U.S. 190 near Bornsdall Road. Chelsea Wilson was reportedly driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma westbound when it crossed the centerline and struck a tree. Wilson, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. A standard toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Lafayette man killed in possible hit-and-run by semi truck in Calcasieu Parish
LAKE CHARLES, La. () — A Lafayette man was killed Wednesday afternoon in an incident with a semi truck near Lake Charles, authorities said. The crash claimed the life of Joseph Amos, 60, of Lafayette. Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a single-vehicle crash shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday on eastbound I-10 near Hungerford Road. Investigators said a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Amos was traveling east on I-10 in the right lane while an 18-wheeler was traveling east in the center lane. For reasons still under investigation, as the 18-wheeler merged into the right lane, the Chevrolet swerved onto the right shoulder and briefly slowed down. Subscribe Now The Chevrolet then began accelerating on the shoulder in an attempt to pass the 18-wheeler, officials said. While passing, Amos failed to maintain control of the Chevrolet causing it to rotate and travel off the road before striking a tree. Amos was pronounced dead at the scene. A standard toxicology sample was collected from Amos and submitted for analysis. Troopers have identified the 18-wheeler and its driver, with potential charges pending. Texas man killed in single-vehicle Calcasieu Parish crash
STARKS, La. () – A Texas man was killed Wednesday after his truck ran into a tree in Calacasieu Parish, authorities said. The crash claimed the life of 33-year-old Jerrad Eisenbach of Cross Plains, Texas. Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a single-vehicle crash shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday on La. 109 near Lewis Cutoff Road. Investigators said Eisenbach was driving a 2021 Buick Enclave north on La. 109.
