M69 reopens after loose horse stops traffic

A section of the M69 on the border between Leicestershire and Warwickshire has reopened after being closed due to a horse on the loose. National Highways said a stretch of the motorway between junction one in Hinckley and junction two of the M6 in Coventry had been shut in both directions on Wednesday morning "due to an animal on the carriageway". Emergency services and traffic officers were sent to the scene before the road was reopened a short time later. However National Highways warned there were still delays of about 60 minutes. Stevie Adams, a car passenger who was caught up in the delay, said: "Seeing the horse with a police car chasing it the wrong way down the slip road was not something you see every sorry for the poor horse, it must have been scared."
