Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Chairing a review meeting at the divisional commissioner's office, Bidari emphasised the need for urgent action and strict timelines to ensure there are no delays in ongoing expressway and road development projects. The meeting focused on reviewing the current status of land acquisition and joint measurement activities for several high-priority projects, including the Nagpur-Gondia Expressway, Bhandara-Gadchiroli Road, Nagpur-Chandrapur corridor, and Pavnar (Wardha district) to Patra Devi (Goa) (Shaktipeeth) Expressway. Bidari gave instructions for immediate completion of land measurement and submission of joint measurement reports to the respective land acquisition officers. She emphasised that all departments involved must operate in close coordination to remove bottlenecks and meet deadlines. She directed deputy superintendents of land records to carry out measurements strictly in line with proposals submitted by MSRDC and to hand over joint measurement reports without delay. Bidari also instructed district superintendents of land records, district collectors, and joint director of land records to monitor and review the progress regularly. A key directive from the commissioner included establishing a fixed schedule for all involved officials and departments to carry out and complete land measurement and reporting within a defined time-frame. She stressed that these deadlines must be followed without exception and warned of accountability in case of negligence or delay. Over 11 lakh vehicles use Samruddhi Mahamarg in a month since opening of its last stretch; 32% rise compared to last 5 months

Over 11 lakh vehicles have used the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg in a month since the last stretch of the expressway was thrown open to the public on June 5 — marking a rise of around 32 per cent in monthly vehicular movement compared to the period from January to May. This has generated a toll revenue of Rs 90 crore for the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) over the last month. Prior to the opening of the last stretch, from January to May, an average of 8.5 lakh vehicles plied on the expressway every month, said MSRDC officials. According to MSRDC data, from June 6 to July 6, as many as 11.23 lakh vehicles passed on the expressway. Of these, 1.97 lakh vehicles crossed at the Amane near Thane district toll plaza, collecting Rs 19.2 crore in toll fees. As many as 27,612 vehicles crossed at the toll plaza near Shahapur at Khutghar in the same span and toll collection stood at Rs 98 lakh. The access-controlled Samruddhi Mahamarg, which runs for 701 km from the state capital Mumbai to the sub-capital Nagpur, has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 61,000 crore. It brought down the road travel time between the two capital cities to around eight hours. The final stretch of the highway—76 km from Igatpuri to Amane—was thrown open to the public on June 5. This completes the route from Nagpur to Mumbai through the 625-km stretch up to Igatpuri, and the state's two biggest cities are now directly connected. So far, 2.24 crore vehicles have used the expressway since its initial segment was inaugurated on December 11, 2022. Currently, around 37,000 vehicles travel on the Samruddhi Mahamarg daily. With the entire route now open, the traffic volume of passenger and commercial vehicles on the expressway are likely to rise. MSRDC officials have indicated that traffic flow is being observed frequently, and amenities along the route are being upgraded to cater to the increased demand.

Give land voluntarily for Shaktipeeth, get 25% bonus, says Kshirsagar

Kolhapur: Farmers who voluntarily give up their land for the Shaktipeeth expressway will receive an additional bonus of 25% of the land price, said state planning commission chairman Rajesh Kshirsagar on Saturday evening in Kolhapur. He said farmers will receive two-and-a-half times the land cost, and district collectors will be given the authority to fix the price. Approximately 46,000 hectares of land will be acquired for the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth expressway. In Kolhapur district alone, 5,300 acres will be acquired. "We met officials of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the implementing authority for the Shaktipeeth expressway, a couple of days ago. The panel under the district collector will be set up to find a mean of the ready reckoner and market price of the land to compensate the farmers. The base price will be two-and-a-half times the mean cost, and above that, the farmer will receive an additional 25% as a reward for voluntarily giving up their land. Recently, the state cabinet approved Rs 11,700 crore for land acquisition in 12 districts. Govt has agreed to increase the amount for land acquisition if required," said Kshirsagar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? Also, the road width would not exceed 110 metres. "The actual cost of construction is around Rs 51,000 crore. The rest is the interest on the loans, environmental compensation, and land acquisition, which in total takes the project cost to Rs 86,000 crore," added the MLA. Meanwhile, the anti-Shaktipeeth expressway forum challenged anyone supporting the highway to show that their land was in the way of the highway after Kshirsagar claimed that 35 farmers have submitted their 7/12 extracts for land acquisition. Raju Shetti, of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana, said, "The MLA took 35 people with him to show support for the road project. Some of these people don't have land that will be affected by the project. There are more than 10,000 farmers who will be affected by the project, and showing support from a mere 35 farmers is a clear failure on the part of govt and those supporting the destructive project."

Flyovers on old Mumbai-Pune highway awaiting Centre's approvals: Shinde

Pune: Deputy CM Eknath Shinde informed the assembly on Thursday that state govt was awaiting Centre's approvals for nine flyovers on the old Mumbai-Pune highway to alleviate traffic congestion. He was replying to MLA Satyajeet Tambe's query about a 7-year-old pending proposal for easing vehicular movement on the highway. "The Mumbai-Pune National Highway (48) falls under Centre's jurisdiction, with Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation acting as a concessionaire. A proposal for constructing nine flyovers has been submitted to the Union ministry of road transport and highways," Shinde said, in a written reply. He said temporary safety measures, including rumble strips, blinkers and traffic signboards, had been installed at proposed flyover locations to ensure smooth traffic flow, and prevent accidents. You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune State govt had planned to build 16 flyovers, each 200-500 metres long, on the highway at Rs 208 crore to ease traffic congestion. In 2018, MSRDC identified nine critical locations on the highway that required immediate attention owing to safety concerns. The areas, including Somatane and Limb phatas, were prone to accidents because of sharp curves and hilly terrain. A particular stretch of 16km between Khopoli and Lonavla was highlighted as a major safety hazard. To address this, flyovers were proposed under a public-private partnership model, which could reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune by 45 minutes. The project, however, remained stalled, awaiting Centre's approval, leaving commuters to deal with worsening congestion. An expert said, "The estimated cost of the project was Rs 208 crore (based on the 2021-22 rate schedule). Further delays may lead to cost escalation and technical implementation issues for the project." Integration with railway project delays Pune-Nashik highway works Pune: Cabinet minister Dada Bhuse on Thursday said the likely changes in the road alignment were leading to the delay in completing the Pune-Nashik highway. "The state was considering whether the Pune-Nashik high-speed railway project alignment and highway direction could be integrated. The objective behind this was to minimise farmers' losses," he said, while replying to a question raised by MLA Satyajeet Tambe at the state assembly. He said these changes were becoming necessary, considering certain sensitive matters at the national level. The industrial highway project linking Pune and Nashik, slated to connect with the Surat-Chennai highway, has been stalled since 2015 due to various issues. These include implementation delays, farmer protests, alignment disputes, and demands for interchanges to support local development. The proposed highway will pass through Rajgurunagar, Chakan, Narayangaon, Aalephata, Sangamner, Sinner, Shirdi and Niphad. Bhuse said land acquisition would be done only after taking farmers into confidence. "The proposal for an interchange to connect Sangamner city is under consideration. he said. Once the highway is completed, the current five-hour distance between Pune and Nashik can be covered in just three hours.

Coastal villages of Vasai fear sea-water flooding; anti-erosion embankments stuck in red-tape

VASAI: Coastal villages like Bhuigaon, Arnala, Navapur, Rangaon and others are running from pillar to post just to make sure that the approved anti-erosion embankments are built up at the earliest. The coastline has suffered extensive damage , intensity of which increases during the monsoon as the water currents are more stronger. This has threatened the existence of citizens' homes, suru (Casuarina) plantations, resources of potable water and farmlands. As per the GR Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation MSRDC is supposed to construct the anti-erosion embankments but they say that they are yet to receive approvals from various government agencies. Work on a proposed coastal anti-erosion embankment at BhuiGaon Seashore, Vasai (West) is planned to be undertaken. However, the necessary CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) clearance for this project is yet to be obtained, said Joy Joseph Fargose, Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party, Vasai. This project is critically important for ensuring the safety of residents in the Vasai Taluka region, as the coastline and nearby villages suffer significant damage due to recurring sea surges. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Invertir en Cervecería Nacional CFD podría proporcionarte un ingreso adicional Empieza a invertir hoy Registro Undo Therefore, it is essential that the construction of the anti-erosion embankment is initiated without delay, he added. He is of the opinion that all the concerned departments should come together to solve this grave issue. Letter sent to Joy by the MSRDC on July 1 states that the CRZ permission was pending and hence the contractor wasn't given any go-ahead for the construction work. The Suruchi Baug, suru (Casuarina) plantations, has suffered major blow as several trees could be seen uprooted since they form the first line of defence. These uprooted trees either rot on the beach, or are seen as harming the tourists or are washed away in the ocean with the reverse water flow of the waves and end up harming the ocean ecology.
