Coastal villages of Vasai fear sea-water flooding; anti-erosion embankments stuck in red-tape

Time of India2 days ago
VASAI: Coastal villages like Bhuigaon, Arnala, Navapur, Rangaon and others are running from pillar to post just to make sure that the approved anti-erosion embankments are built up at the earliest.
The coastline has suffered extensive damage , intensity of which increases during the monsoon as the water currents are more stronger.
This has threatened the existence of citizens' homes, suru (Casuarina) plantations, resources of potable water and farmlands. As per the GR Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation MSRDC is supposed to construct the anti-erosion embankments but they say that they are yet to receive approvals from various government agencies.
Work on a proposed coastal anti-erosion embankment at BhuiGaon Seashore, Vasai (West) is planned to be undertaken. However, the necessary CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) clearance for this project is yet to be obtained, said Joy Joseph Fargose, Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party, Vasai.
This project is critically important for ensuring the safety of residents in the Vasai Taluka region, as the coastline and nearby villages suffer significant damage due to recurring sea surges.

Therefore, it is essential that the construction of the anti-erosion embankment is initiated without delay, he added.
He is of the opinion that all the concerned departments should come together to solve this grave issue. Letter sent to Joy by the MSRDC on July 1 states that the CRZ permission was pending and hence the contractor wasn't given any go-ahead for the construction work.
The Suruchi Baug, suru (Casuarina) plantations, has suffered major blow as several trees could be seen uprooted since they form the first line of defence. These uprooted trees either rot on the beach, or are seen as harming the tourists or are washed away in the ocean with the reverse water flow of the waves and end up harming the ocean ecology.

Rs 5,000 crore man reveals reason why pre-wedding photoshoots are longer than marriages: 'Love at first sight is to blame'

Renowned entrepreneur and billionaire motivational speaker Dr. A. Velumani recently shared his perspective on how the meaning of marriage has shifted drastically for the current generation, especially millennials and Gen Z. Reflecting on the contemporary outlook towards relationships, he emphasized that the traditional dream of lifelong unions and growing old together may no longer align with present-day realities. His recent video highlights how quick romantic connections often unravel just as swiftly, with impulsive unions leading to equally rapid separations. Dr. Velumani remarked that modern couples, particularly younger ones, tend to fall in love instantly but also walk away from relationships just as quickly after a conflict arises. This pattern, he noted, is becoming more common, and he urged individuals seeking enduring partnerships to approach relationships with realism and maturity. "Love at first sight, divorce at first fight has become the norm," he wrote. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo He stressed the importance of having practical expectations within a marriage. According to him, the mindset that one's partner must fit into pre-existing roles—especially the outdated belief that women must mold themselves around the needs of men—is no longer relevant. He suggested that those who desire meaningful relationships must release such ingrained patriarchal views. Looking ahead, he envisioned a future where male-dominated societal structures might no longer exist, predicting that patriarchal dominance could fade out entirely by the year 2050. In the caption accompanying his video, Dr. Velumani shared thoughtful advice for those navigating love and relationships. He encouraged individuals to take their time before committing to a relationship, especially in love marriages. According to him, people should not rush into or out of marriages but instead give themselves adequate time to reflect before making life-altering decisions. Ending a marriage, he suggested, should involve even greater caution and reflection to minimize emotional turmoil and long-term damage. Demonstrating his well-known dry wit, the founder of Thyrocare wryly observed how, in today's world, elaborate pre-wedding photo sessions tend to last longer than the marriages themselves. He highlighted the irony of how so much energy is poured into visual memories of a relationship, while the connection itself may dissolve quickly after minor disagreements. — velumania (@velumania) "Love at first sight often leads to a divorce at first fight. That leads to a pre-wedding shoot longer than the post-married life..." he explained. Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani, born on April 12, 1959, is a self-made Indian billionaire and the visionary behind Thyrocare Technologies Ltd., a major diagnostic and preventive health care chain based in Navi Mumbai. He also established Nueclear Healthcare Limited, which focuses on radiology diagnostics and operates under the Thyrocare umbrella. His estimated net worth stands at a staggering ₹5,000 crore, making him one of India's most influential healthcare entrepreneurs.

What it means when two planets share the same house

I explore the celestial dance of Venus and Mars, their conjunction illuminating my path. The cosmos whispers secrets of love and passion. When two or more planets occupy the same house in a birth chart, it is known as a conjunction. This simple placement can have a powerful influence on a person's life, personality, and experiences. Conjunctions blend the energies of the planets involved, creating either harmony or tension, depending on their nature and position. E ach planet represents a specific quality—like intelligence (Mercury), emotions (Moon), ambition (Mars), or discipline (Saturn). When two planets come together in one house, their energies start to interact closely, often shaping the theme of that house in a significant way. For example, if Sun and Mercury are in the same house, it's called Budh Aditya Yoga, which can give strong intellect and communication skills. If Mars and Saturn are together, it may cause internal conflict—Mars wants to act quickly, while Saturn slows things down with caution and responsibility. This could result in frustration, but also strong focus if balanced. The house where the conjunction happens matters a lot. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Providers are furious: Internet access without a subscription! The sign also plays a role. Some planets do well together in friendly signs, while others may clash depending on their natural relationship and dignity in the chart. A benefic (like Venus) with a malefic (like Ketu) may bring mixed results—charm on the outside, confusion within. Not all conjunctions are intense—some are gentle and bring out the best in both planets. Others may create challenges that push you to grow and mature over time. Conjunctions are like two personalities sharing a room—their influence depends on how well they get along and what room (house) they're in. Puri Jagannath temple's Ratna Bhandar repair work complete, inventory after govt nod: Official

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has completed the repair work of the Puri Jagannath temple 's Ratna Bhandar or treasury, and inventory-related work will begin after approval of the state government, an official said. The announcement was made by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration 's Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee and ASI's Superintending Archaeologist DB Garnayak at a press conference on Monday. ASI is the custodian of the 12th-century shrine in the seaside town. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Elegant New Scooters For Seniors In 2024: The Prices May Surprise You Mobility Scooter | Search Ads Learn More Undo "By the infinite grace of the Lord, the conservation and renovation work of the Ratna Bhandar, both outer and inner, has been completed today," Padhee said. The outer chamber is regularly used to store and retrieve ornaments for rituals and festivals. The most valuable ornaments made of gold and diamond are kept in the inner chamber, which has not been opened for 46 years due to concerns about its structural integrity. Live Events Last year, the inner chamber was reopened for the repair of the structure and an inventory of the valuables in it. "The conservation work was carried out by the ASI for about 333 hours over a period of 95 days. As many as 80 people worked to conserve the Lord's treasury," said Padhee, an IAS officer. He said the works related to the inventory will begin only after the state government gives its permission. The Jagannath temple in Puri functions under the Law Department of the state government. Jewellery and other precious items stored in iron chests and almirahs had been shifted to temporary strong rooms inside the temple in two phases in July last year when the Ratna Bhandar was reopened after four decades. The valuables will be taken inside the Ratna Bhandar soon since the repair is now complete, Padhee said. The last inventory was done in 1978. According to that inventory, the temple has 128 kg of gold and over 200 kg of silver, temple sources said, adding that some of the ornaments have gold coatings and those could not be weighed at that time. Padhee said the repair and conservation works were carried out as per the state government's prescribed guidelines. "By the grace of the lord, the repair work was completed before Niladri Bije of deities on July 8," he said. 'Niladri Bije' refers to the return of the sibling deities - Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath - to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, marking the conclusion of the Rath Yatra festival. Though the Ratna Bhandar was reopened in July last year, the repair and conservation work began in December after a thorough survey. ASI's Garnayak said a total of 520 damaged stone blocks and a corbel arch were changed in the inner and outer chambers of the Ratna Bhandar. "These are the major stone blocks from the exterior and interior side walls of both chambers of Ratna Bhandar, which had deteriorated over the years. Now, granite stones have been fitted on the floor," he said. "This apart, 15 damaged beams in the structure have been replaced with stainless steel beams, both big and small. The renovation works have been done entirely in the traditional dry masonry method," he added.
