Noel and Liam Gallagher's mum reveals her role as secret 'instigator' of reunion
Noel and Liam Gallagher's mother Peggy Gallagher 'instigated' their reconciliation when she told them to not Look Back in Anger and 'get on with it', she has revealed. Bickering brothers Liam, 52, and Noel, 58, hadn't spoken since Oasis' split following their big fall out in 2009, but announced their historic reunion last year ending fans' excruciating wait. The Mancunian stars are currently preparing for their reunion tour, largely thanks to their mum Peggy, she has revealed in a recent interview. While Peggy urged the Wonderwall hitmakers to put their differences aside, she insisted she couldn't have made them do anything they didn't want to do. She told Ireland's Mail on Sunday newspaper: 'I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn't it always going to happen at some time or other? 'It was their choice, of course. 'Look you can't force them to do things they don't want to do. 'You just have to say, 'Get on with it' and I said that.' The 82-year-old matriarch is relieved her warring sons have finally made up. She said: 'It's great, because nobody wants their kids falling out, do they?' Off the back of their new found peace, Peggy is looking forward to seeing Noel and Liam back on stage together this summer. But she admitted: 'I'll be glad when it's all just over because it makes me get too stressed.' Mayo-born Peggy is hoping to travel to Dublin to see Oasis perform in Croke Park, but she has just had a knee replacement operation so is currently unsure as to whether she will be fit enough to make the journey from her home in Manchester. She said: 'I'm hoping to get to the Oasis concert in Dublin in August if I can hobble around. That's my plan anyway… it will be great. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I know the Irish fans are thrilled about it. There's great excitement in Ireland about the reunion tour and it will be lovely to see family there, also my sister Kathleen. I am really looking forward to the Dublin one.' Peggy – who also plans to see her sons at their homecoming shows in Manchester – knows the road to recovery will be long. She said: 'It's still sore. I'm sick of bloody exercising it, up and down the stairs, they say it takes anything up to nine months to be right again… I am finding it hard going up and down the stairs. Still, we have to get there, we have to get on with it.' While her sons are multi-millionaires, Peggy insists on remaining in her same modest council house in Manchester, surrounded by friends and her familiar haunts. The only thing she asked the brothers to do was replace her garden gate, the outlet reports. This comes after Liam told a fan on X that he considered the famous feud with Noel as 'wasted' years. A fan on X asked: 'How does it feel singing songs with ur brother again? Like old times?' To this Liam replied with his regret: 'You know what it's spiritual but I can't help think about all those wasted years what a waste of PRECIOUS time.' More Trending Just a month short of 16 years since Noel announced he could no longer work with his brother Liam, the Britpop legends will be taking to the stage once more on July 5. They are performing in Cardiff, before heading to their native Manchester for a five-night run, and London's Wembley Stadium at the end of the month. Edinburgh and Dublin dates are set for August, before Noel and Liam head over to kick off the North America leg of their tour. The brothers will be back – if all goes to plan – to perform two more Wembley shows in September. Got a story? The radio host, who shared the news with his listeners on Tuesday, has now revealed how he carefully planned the romantic proposal to his long-term partner. Writing in his Mail on Sunday column, he said: "I don't want to give all the details but I do want to share a few moments because some people were enormously helpful along the way." READ MORE ON RYAN TUBRIDY Ryan explained that he had always planned to buy the ring in Clifden, an area which him and Clare both love and where the local jewellers has been a long-standing family run business. He explained: "I've also been preaching about shopping local for years so I wasn't going to Tiffany's… I called Jonty Daly in O'Dalaigh's and asked for some guidance and I can tell you, the man's a diamond!" The podcaster then went on to say: "The care, attention and thought he put into every detail was above and beyond, right down to him driving out to Renvyle House Hotel to deliver the 'package' to Anne Marie Kelly, the incomparable general manager there. It was all so much fun and it felt distinctly Irish." Ryan has often spoken about his love for the West Coast of Ireland, and this proposal showed just how much the area means to the pair. MOST READ IN THE IRISH SUN He said: "By the Atlantic shore, I asked the important question and thankfully, the answer was in the affirmative – and so began the most gorgeous weekend." The 52-year-old revealed that the "staff and joyful hotel patrons" helped make each part "feel special". Donncha O'Callaghan has Ryan Tubridy in stitches He added: "We called into Jonty the next day to thank him and his staff; there was a little confusion about online stories but that was entirely at my end. Jonty did not let the cat out of the bag, it was an innocent miscommunication and we're all firm friends. "In fact, he joined us at The Abbeyglen Castle Hotel that evening where my cousin Brian Hughes and his amazing wife, Michelle, raised a few glasses with another cousin, Rachael Coyle and her brilliant husband, Shane. "Another lovely night was had that ended with songs at the piano! After that, it was Scrabble, cycling and sleeping before boarding a plane in Shannon and heading to the skies a different man with a whole new vista ahead. I felt and feel lucky, happy and ready for another welcome twist in the tale." Earlier this week, the dad-of-two told his Virgin Radio UK listeners: "I have a little bit of news that I was kind of keeping a little bit to myself - to ourselves. "Even though I'm a public person doing the job I do, I also have quite a lot of privacy that I like to keep to myself. HAPPY COUPLE "However, the cat has been removed from the bag for a number of reasons and I'm very, very, very happy to confirm that I did indeed get engaged to my partner Clare on Thursday evening in the West of Ireland." Speaking about his longterm love, Tubs previously told The Irish Sun: "She has brought an awful lot of joy into my life and happiness and support. "I don't want to talk too much about her, because my private life has always stayed private. "But I think anyone who has met or knows Clare will know exactly why we are seeing each other. I feel very lucky." Asked at the time if the clinical psychologist, who he first interviewed on his RTE Radio One show in March 2023, had been a major support during the last six months. Tubs replied: "Remarkably so."

Ryan Tubridy opens up about romantic proposal to Dr Clare Kambamettu
Ex-RTE star Ryan Tubridy has shared the details of his romantic proposal to his long-term girlfriend, Dr Clare Kambamettu. The radio presenter and podcast host popped the question last week, informing his listeners on Tuesday about the wonderful news. Now, he has shared the details of where he got down on one knee, as well as how he chose the perfect ring. After a trip to Japan, the Virgin Radio host flew back to Ireland to prepare for what he called a "life-changing" experience. "I don't want to give all the details but I do want to share a few moments because some people were enormously helpful along the way," he said. "Firstly, I knew I wanted to buy the ring in Clifden where the local jewellery shop has been a beautiful and important family concern for decades, and both myself and Clare love the area. "I've also been preaching about shopping local for years so I wasn't going to Tiffany's… I called Jonty Daly in O'Dalaigh's and asked for some guidance and I can tell you, the man's a diamond!" It was all so much fun and it felt distinctly Irish." Ryan has spoken many times about his love for the west coast of Ireland, so it's only fitting that the couple had their special moment there. "By the Atlantic shore, I asked the important question and thankfully, the answer was in the affirmative – and so began the most gorgeous weekend," he said. Tubridy also cleared up confusion that the jewellers had accidentally announced his engagement. "The staff and joyful hotel patrons helped make it all feel special. We called into Jonty the next day to thank him and his staff; there was a little confusion about online stories but that was entirely at my end. Jonty did not let the cat out of the bag, it was an innocent miscommunication and we're all firm friends. Allison Janney keeps her Oscar in different rooms around her house
Allison Janney moves her Oscar around the house. The 65-year-old star won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 2017 movie 'I, Tonya' and explained that she puts the gong in various places in her property to remind herself of the success. Speaking to the Mail on Sunday newspaper's You magazine, Allison said: "He moves around a lot. Sometimes he's in the kitchen. Sometimes he's on the top of the bookshelf I have in the living room. Sometimes he's in my office. It depends where he is needed. "I'm in the bedroom and sometimes I need to look at Oscar. I just look at it and go, 'That happened. That really happened.'" Allison recalled that she didn't get the chance to revel in her Oscar win as she was filming for her role as Bonnie Plunkett in the TV series 'Mom' the day after the ceremony. She said: "I went to bed at 2am, got up at 4.30am to do the TV talk show 'Live with Kelly and Ryan', then went to work. We did the read-through of the 'Mom' script and then they said congratulations (for the Oscar win) and sent us all home." Janney has never been married, although she was engaged to actor Richard Jenik between 2004 and 2006, and admits that she has no interest in trying to find love at the moment. 'The West Wing' star explained: "I don't date any more. Dating sounds awful. I've only had long-term relationships. The people I wound up with were friends who slowly developed into something. "I joined one of the dating apps once, Raya, but I didn't actually engage with it. That's on the backburner indefinitely." Allison also recounted a hilarious language misunderstanding as a crew member made a request to keep her cool during hot weather in Italy during the making of her latest movie 'Another Simple Favor'. She said: "I have this wig on and I'm sweating. The American assistant director looks at the Italian assistant director and says, 'Get Miss Janney a fan.' And the Italian assistant director comes back with two people - he thought that I needed to have fans of my work. "I'm laughing, wondering how he tried to find fans of Allison Janney. 'Come on, has anyone seen her in 'The West Wing'? He's probably listing my credits and no one knows who I am."
