Traffic diversion on Karak Highway to make way for construction work of ECRL project
A temporary traffic diversion on the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Highway (KLK) involving the stretch from KM25.75 to KM26.4 heading towards Kuantan (from Gombak to Genting Sempah) has been activated recently to make way for the construction works of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project. Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) director-general Datuk Sazali Harun said the diversion involves converting the existing three-lane route into a one-way traffic flow towards Kuala Lumpur, while maintaining the same total lane capacity to ensure smooth traffic movement throughout the implementation period. He said LLM, along with concessionaire AFA PRIME Berhad and Malaysia Rail Link (MRL), have conducted several series of continuous monitoring since the traffic diversion was activated. 'Based on the latest monitoring, carried out on July 14, 2025, it was found that the traffic situation at the location was orderly, under control and smooth moving,' he said in a statement today. Meanwhile, he said the Traffic Management Plan (TMP) design for the diversion had been reviewed and confirmed by road safety auditors through the Road Safety Audit (RSA) Level 4 Part 1. 'RSA Level 4 Part 2 will be implemented on July 30 to assess compliance with implementation standards and to review any proposed improvements based on the progress observed at the site,' he said. Therefore, the public is advised to adhere to all safety signage at the site and to plan their journeys in advance to avoid traffic congestion. — BERNAMA

Temporary traffic diversion activated on KL-Karak Expressway
IPOH: A temporary traffic diversion is in place along KM25.75 to KM26.4 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway heading towards Kuantan to facilitate construction for the East Coast Rail Link project. Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) Director-General Datuk Sazali Harun said the diversion redirects the existing three-lane carriageway to a one-way lane on the opposite side towards Kuala Lumpur. This maintains a three-lane capacity to ensure smooth traffic flow during the diversion. "The Traffic Management Plan design has been reviewed and approved by a road safety auditor through the Stage 4 Part 1 Road Safety Audit. "The next audit, RSA Stage 4 Part 2, will be carried out on Wednesday (July 30) to assess compliance during implementation and to propose improvements based on construction progress," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 17). He added that LLM, together with concessionaire AFA PRIME Bhd and Malaysia Rail Link, has been conducting continuous monitoring since the diversion's activation. "The latest monitoring carried out on Monday (July 14) showed that traffic at the location remained orderly, controlled and smooth." He advised road users to adhere to safety signage at the site and to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion.

First Friday prayers held at Surau MADANI in Seremban R&R
SEREMBAN: Relief and gratitude filled the air as Surau MADANI at the southbound Seremban Rest and Service Area (R&R) held its first Friday prayers today. The newly approved facility provided much-needed convenience for highway users and workers, eliminating the need for long detours. Muhammad Amri Anuar, a 25-year-old restaurant worker at the R&R, shared his relief. 'It's always a rush, especially when there are lots of vehicles on the highway; it can take a long time. ' Now that we can pray here, it's a big relief. My friends and I are really grateful, and it definitely saves us time.' Around 300 worshippers attended the prayers, led by Imam I of the Labu Mosque, Shafie Rajiman, who delivered a sermon titled 'Titian Keinsafan dan Keampunan Ilahi Pada Hari Asyura.' The event was attended by Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Ir Sazali Harun and PLUS Malaysia Berhad managing director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar. Alias Jaafar, 53, chairman of Surau MADANI, expressed his gratitude for the approval, which had been long awaited. 'This surau certainly provides comfort to the public, especially the workers. It's well-equipped and comfortable, so when we received permission to hold Friday prayers here, we were truly grateful.' Mohd Salleh Ibrahim, 47, a traveller from Selangor to Segamat, initially stopped for lunch but decided to join the prayers instead of combining them later. 'I didn't expect to find a place to pray here. It's a blessing,' he said. Nik Airina highlighted PLUS's commitment to enhancing services and fostering a worship-friendly environment at R&Rs. She added that discussions with religious authorities are underway to expand similar facilities at other rest areas. Negeri Sembilan Mufti Associate Professor Datuk Dr Faudzinaim Badaruddin recently confirmed that Surau MADANI is the first surau at any R&R permitted to hold Friday prayers, easing religious obligations for travellers and workers. - Bernama
