ISI-Linked Weapons Consignment Recovered in Punjab, 5 Arrested
In a significant breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police, in collaboration with central agencies, recovered a large consignment of weapons from five people allegedly involved in a trans-border smuggling network. Speaking to ANI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural, Maninder Singh, said that five people have been arrested in the case, and the consignment was sent by an individual named Rana, linked to an ISI-sponsored terrorist element. "Amritsar Rural Police, in collaboration with central agencies, conducted an operation and arrested five individuals. From them, one AK series assault rifle, 90 live rounds, two magazines, two Glock pistols, four Glock magazines, and Rs 7.5 lakh in drug money were recovered... The five arrested, Joban, Gora, Jaspreet, Sunny, and Shenshan, were stopped in a car in Kaler village, and arms were recovered from them. They revealed in a preliminary investigation that Nav Pandori, a close associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, had ordered this consignment," SSP Singh told ANI. "This consignment was sent by an individual named Rana, linked to ISI-sponsored terrorist elements. We suspect that Rana has connections with the BKI (Babbar Khalsa International) terrorist elements. Rana sent the consignment to them via drone," he added. Earlier on Saturday, Amritsar Police arrested four drug smugglers and recovered 6 kg of heroin. "We have arrested four major smugglers and recovered 6.106 kg of heroin from them. Sarabjeet Joban has emerged as the kingpin. He was dropping consignments on the Indian side by identifying various locations for a long time," said Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar during a press briefing.

Arms seized from ISI-backed gang in Punjab AMRITSAR: Amritsar Police intercepted a cache of arms and ammunition and arrested five persons on Sunday. SSP, Amritsar-rural, Maninder Singh, said police have dismantled a major trans-border smuggling network of sophisticated arms and drug money, operated by Pakistan's ISI-backed handlers. Among the seizures are an AK Saiga rifle with two magazines, two Glock 9mm pistols with four magazines, 100 rounds of ammo, and Rs 7.5 lakh in drug money, apart from a car and three mobile phones, police said. The intercepted consignment was intended to be delivered to Nav Pandori, a known associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, indicating a broader terror-gangster nexus, police said. Those arrested have been identified as Jobanjit Singh alias Joban, Gora Singh, Shenshan alias Shahu, Sunny Singh alias Gana, and Jaspreet Singh alias Motu. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had direct links to Pakistan-based operatives, said the SSP.

Amritsar: Apprehensions of cross-border arms smugglers in Pakistan expanding their network in India continue to grow amid regular seizures of guns and ammunition along the neighbouring country's border in Punjab. Amritsar senior superintendent of police (rural) Maninder Singh said they had seized 170 weapons of different makes along the Pak border since Jan, with a bulk of the illegal firearms being dropped by drones. He said there were not many incidents when the supply of firerarms smuggled from Pakistan via Punjab was found in the insurgency-hit states of India or in the hands of Naxals. He, however, said that in the past, Telangana-bound improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were seized in Ambala. "But not many cases have come to light wherein arms were being sold to other terrorist-hit regions of India," he said. A police source said a majority of these weapons are smuggled to arm gangsters in Punjab. "Most of the gangsters in the region are armed with at least two-three pistols each, so the demand is high," said the source.
