ISI-Linked Weapons Consignment Recovered in Punjab, 5 Arrested
Speaking to ANI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural, Maninder Singh, said that five people have been arrested in the case, and the consignment was sent by an individual named Rana, linked to an ISI-sponsored terrorist element.
"Amritsar Rural Police, in collaboration with central agencies, conducted an operation and arrested five individuals. From them, one AK series assault rifle, 90 live rounds, two magazines, two Glock pistols, four Glock magazines, and Rs 7.5 lakh in drug money were recovered... The five arrested, Joban, Gora, Jaspreet, Sunny, and Shenshan, were stopped in a car in Kaler village, and arms were recovered from them. They revealed in a preliminary investigation that Nav Pandori, a close associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, had ordered this consignment," SSP Singh told ANI.
"This consignment was sent by an individual named Rana, linked to ISI-sponsored terrorist elements. We suspect that Rana has connections with the BKI (Babbar Khalsa International) terrorist elements. Rana sent the consignment to them via drone," he added.
Earlier on Saturday, Amritsar Police arrested four drug smugglers and recovered 6 kg of heroin.
"We have arrested four major smugglers and recovered 6.106 kg of heroin from them. Sarabjeet Joban has emerged as the kingpin. He was dropping consignments on the Indian side by identifying various locations for a long time," said Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar during a press briefing.

They questioned Chandel who reportedly failed to give satisfactory answers, which angered Raj Thackeray's party men. They then physically assaulted him and demanded immediate refunds for the somehow managed to return money to some students but reportedly ran out of cash before he could return money to all of them. Following this, the MNS workers handed him over to the local police. Wanted Bihar gangster gunned down in Hapur encounter
A wanted gangster facing several cases in Bihar was gunned down in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district in the early hours of Monday, officials said. The shootout took place in the Simbhaoli police station area, where a police team intercepted Dabloo Yadav after receiving a tip-off about his movement. The operation was carried out jointly by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) and the Bihar Police. Yadav, a native of Sahebpur Kamal area of Begusarai in Bihar, was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. He had been absconding for several months after a case was registered against him in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a local Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader. He was also a key suspect in several other heinous crimes registered across Bihar. UP STF Additional Director General (ADG) Amitabh Yash said Yadav opened fire on the police team, which retaliated in defence. The gangster sustained a gunshot injury to his chest and was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to injuries, he said. The police said apart from the HAM leader's kidnapping and murder, at least 24 other cases — including that of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, and violations of the Arms Act, were registered against Yadav at several police stations in Bihar. The Bihar Police said, 'Yadav was on the run for some time. Acting on intelligence inputs, our team reached UP and coordinated with the STF. During the encounter, Yadav was killed in the retaliatory firing.' A large number of firearms, cartridges, and other items were seized, ADG Yash said. US Woman Dies After Tree Branch Falls On Her During Daughter's Sports Tournament
A US woman was killed after being crushed by a falling tree branch while she was at her teenage daughter's softball tournament. The victim, identified as Gendie Miller, 49, from Pennsylvania, had taken shelter beneath a tall tree, alongside her husband, Bill Miller, when the tree branch fell on her on Thursday (Jul 24). She was watching her daughter, Marlee, 16, playing in the Western PA College Showcase softball camp at Renziehausen Park in front of prospective college coaches. As per Mr Miller, he suddenly heard a loud cracking noise and hurried to usher his wife of 17 years away, according to a report in New York Post. "I said to my wife, 'Let's go.' I jumped out of my chair, felt a small branch of some sort that grazed my leg. And I immediately turned to my right to look back at her, and she was face down with large, multiple branches and limbs," he said. Bystanders sprang into action and moved the branches, but the extent of the injuries was too severe. As the emergency services arrived on the scene, Ms Miller was rushed in an ambulance to Forbes Hospital Trauma Center in Monroeville. However, before she could be taken to the hospital, Ms Miller stopped breathing and was pronounced dead on arrival. "To be so traumatic, and with the heavy load of the type of branch and limb, it was devastating. And I can tell you that she didn't die from her heart, because her heart's too big," said Mr Miller. Marlee's coach, Michael Mull, started a GoFundMe page to help the Millers through the sudden tragedy. As of the last update, Rs 44 lakh ($51,500) had been raised for the family. "Between medical/ambulance bills, funeral items, and initial lost wages, Bill and Marlee could use all the help they can get," the page read. "Although it doesn't bring back their loved one, it takes a little bit of the burden off of coming up with funds they don't have right now for something so sudden and unexpected."
