After 25 yrs in army, retd soldier aims to revive motherland in Junnar
Pune: After serving 25 years in the first battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry of the Indian Army, retired soldier Ramesh Kharmale (49) has embarked on a new mission to protect and revive nature. He, during his military career, participated in various operations, but that is not it. He has started digging trenches on the hills of the Sahyadri Ranges in Junnar taluka to plant trees and restore natural water resources. "Both duties that I performed are aimed at saving the motherland," Kharmale told TOI. "I applied my 'Paltan' work ethos to this endeavour and turned it into my new mission," he added. She works alongside to support the cause and their son Mayuresh (13) and daughter Vaishnavi (20) join them occasionally to contribute to the mission of planting seeds on the hills. He gives credit to his wife and children for working with him for the last few years. I always strive to spark a sense of responsibility among youngsters, who can bring unbelievable results," Kharmale narrated. At present, Kharmale serves as a forest guard with the Junnar forest division and is actively involved in various roles beyond his official duty, said the forest officials. Pradip Chavan, the range forest officer of the Junnar range, under whom Kharmale worked for two years, described him as a 'highly motivated and determined' personnel. "He works tirelessly and sincerely. Because of these two qualities, he achieved unprecedented results in the field, wherein very few people work on the ground," added Chavan. Kharmale, with the help of villagers, developed the first 'Oxygen Park' in the Vadaj village. There are over 200 trees in the park. He said, "I aim to create such parks in several villages to create a condusive ecological balance to improve overall life." The infantryman wears several feathers in his hat as he actively participates in wildlife rescue operations, grass cutting, and head awareness campaigns in villages in Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Satara, and Kolhapur districts.

Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut takes dig at PM Modi's tours, calls for travel ministry
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he is always on tour and should have a tour and travel ministry. If RSS wants, then it can teach the BJP a lesson, Raut said.(ANI File) Speaking to reporters, Raut said, "PM Modi is always on tour, he should have a tour and travel ministry, and should have country tourism ambassadors and should tell in Mann ki Baat what to eat in which country to go..." Raut also criticised the Modi government over Pakistan's growing influence at international forums. He said, "Ever since PM Modi came, Jaishankar came, Amit Shah came, we could not prove this and today an important post was given to Pakistan in the United Nations. The Army Chief was invited to dinner at the White House." He questioned the government for ignoring serious domestic issues, including farmers' suicides and recent terror attacks, saying, "Does Modi Ji know that 1000 farmers died by suicide in Maharashtra in three months? Till now, they have been unable to find the killers in the Pahalgam attack. Air India is finished. They are not able to find out what happened to the plane that crashed in Ahmedabad, and Modi Ji is roaming abroad; this is the condition of the country." Meanwhile, on the relationship between the RSS and BJP, Raut said, "RSS and BJP are brothers. If RSS wants, then it can teach the BJP a lesson. The BJP that is seen today is based on the strength of RSS workers." He further demanded that Prime Minister Modi question US President Donald Trump over his stance towards India. "Prime Minister Modi should ask Trump what kind of drama you are doing with India. There is no one in the United Nations who can raise our voice. The way President Trump is trying to give power to Pakistan is a danger for India in the near future," he added.

Karnataka's ‘Kaam ki Baat' in PM's ‘Mann ki Baat', says Priyank Kharge
KALABURAGI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the success of the Karnataka Government's 'Kaam ki Baat' in his 'Mann ki Baat', said Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and Kalaburagi district in-charge Minister Priyank Kharge. In an 'X' post, Priyank explained the steps taken by the state government in the success story of Kalaburagi rotti, which the PM mentioned in his Mann ki Baat on Sunday. Priyank on 'X' stated that the state government has provided seed funding for branding Kalaburagi Rotti. Around 150 rotti-making machines were provided to Women SHGs and other enthusiastic women at subsidised rates for preparing rottis, while Rs 6.5 lakh has been provided to them through CSR funds. He said assistance is being provided in packing, labelling and branding -- market is being expanded in other states as well -- efforts are being made to explore the possibility of exports. Market has also been created on ecommerce platforms too. The RDPR minister also said, 'The Kalaburagi district administration has been instrumental in providing a good market for the skills of Kalaburagi women and helping them add value. By creating an online market for the rottis, creating a brand for it, and creating a large consumer base, 'Kalaburagi Rotti' has today provided strength to the self-reliant life of women. Because of all these efforts, the importance of Kalaburagi Rotti has reached PM Narendra Modi and he spoke about it in his Mann ki Baat.'

"PM Modi inspired countrymen with important topics": Uttarakhand CM Dhami praises Mann Ki Baat
ANI Image DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami listened to the 123rd edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' program at the chief minister's residence, an official statement said. After the program, the chief minister said that the Prime Minister has inspired the countrymen with important topics like yoga, social unity, service spirit and women empowerment. The chief minister said that under PM Modi's leadership, India has got a distinct identity at the global level. "The International Yoga Day, organised on June 21, once again demonstrated that yoga has made its special identity not only in India but all over the world. He expressed pride in the achievements of the country being declared trachoma-free by the World Health Organisation and bringing 64 per cent of the population under social security in the report of the International Labour Organisation," CM Dhami said. The chief minister stated that under the able leadership of the Prime Minister, the country has achieved significant progress in the areas of health and social security. He appreciated the collective service highlighted in "Mann Ki Baat", the spirit of meeting during religious pilgrimages and the initiative to promote local products. He said that this program embodies the ideal of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' and urged the people of the state to adopt these messages in their daily routine and make Uttarakhand a proud part of self-reliant and prosperous India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday in his 'Mann Ki Baat' address lauded "Women Led Development" initiatives, noting the remarkable achievements which are through enterprise, self-reliance and innovation are shaping a New India. Addressing the 123rd episode of his monthly radio address, the Prime Minister highlighted that women labourers from Telangana's Bhadrachalam who used to toil in the fields to eke out their daily livelihood are now making products that reach markets from Hyderabad to London. PM Modi said that those pads were distributed to nearby schools and offices at a very low price. He noted that these women joined a Self-Help Group and received training for the same. "The mantra of 'Women Led Development' is ready to create a new future for India. Our mothers, sisters, and daughters are today lending a new direction not only for themselves but for the entire society. You will also feel good when you come to know about the success of the women of Bhadrachalam in Telangana. These women once worked as labourers in the fields. They used to work hard all day for their livelihoods," PM Modi said during the Mann ki Baat programme. The Prime Minister also spoke about how women from Karnataka's Kalaburagi have created a "jowar" roti brand. They produce over 3,000 rotis daily through a cooperative, which are now not limited to villages but are sold in Bengaluru and via online food platforms, he said. "The achievement of the women of Kalaburgi in Karnataka is also excellent. They have made jowar roti a brand. In the cooperative that they have formed, more than 3000 rotis are being made every day. The aroma of these rotis is no longer limited to the village. A special counter has been opened in Bengaluru. Orders are coming in over online food platforms. Kalaburgi roti is now reaching the kitchens of big cities. This has had a great impact on these women; their income is increasing," PM Modi said. The Prime Minister also mentioned a story of "self-confidence" and "self-reliance" from Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat. Suma Uike, who has received training in mushroom farming and animal husbandry, joined the Self Help Group and has increased her income and also expanded her work. "These stories from different states have different faces. But their glow is the same. This is the glow of self-confidence, of self-reliance. One such face is Suma Uike from Madhya Pradesh. Suma Ji's efforts are very commendable. She took training in mushroom farming and animal husbandry by joining the Self Help Group in Katangi block of Balaghat district. Thus, she found her path to self-reliance. When Suma Uike's income increased, she also expanded her work. This journey that started with a tiny effort has now expanded to 'Didi Canteen' and 'Thermal Therapy Centre'. In every corner of the country, countless such women are changing their fate and that of the country," PM Modi said.
