Sitaare Zameen Par box office verdict: Aamir Khan's film earns around Rs 220 crore in full run; is it a hit or a flop?

Sitaare Zameen Par box office verdict: Sitaare Zameen Par hit the screens on June 20 and opened to a good response at the box office. It grossed Rs 19.50 crore globally on the first day and received rave reviews from all corners. The film then witnessed good growth over the weekend. The film has now almost completed its run and the verdict is out. Sitaare Zameen Par shines at the box office Aamir Khan is in the limelight because of his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par, which hit the screens last month. The sports comedy drama has made a solid impact at the box office despite not being a commercial mass movie. Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, told Indiatimes it earned Rs 220 crore worldwide during its run. 'Sitaare Zameen Par grossed around ₹220 cr at the WW Box Office. Although it collected less compared to normal standards set by tier 1 stars, the film emerged as a profitable venture because it was made on an ultra low budget of ₹90 cr,' he said. In doing so, Sitaare Zameen Par outperformed Salman Khan's Sikandar and the Akshay Kumar-led Kesari Chapter 2. The action thriller earned Rs 177 crore in its full run. The figure failed to do justice to its budget of Rs 200 crore. The Khildai's courtroom drama, on the other hand, earned Rs 144 crore (as per Bollywood Hungama) in its full run and emerged as a 'semi-hit'. According to Manobala, the positive word-of-mouth helped the Sitaare Zameen Par emerge as the choice to the audience despite the relatively subdued promotions and message-oriented storyline. 'Positive response from the majority of the audience made this film a successful one,' added the trade analyst. The Times of India gave Sitaare Zameen Par a rating of 3.5/5 and described it as a 'feel-good slam dunk for inclusion'. A much-needed hit for Aamir Khan Sitaare Zameen Par has helped Aamir Khan bounce back after two consecutive flops. He suffered a setback when Thugs of Hindostan (2018) grossed only Rs 322 crore globally despite being shot on a massive budget of Rs 300 crore. The action-adventure drama also received negative reviews. Similarly, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) too failed to live up to expectations. The Forrest Gump remake, which was shot on a budget of Rs 180 crore, grossed only Rs 130 crore worldwide. Moreover, it received underwhelming reviews from most critics. About Sitaare Zameen Par Sitaare Zameen Par is a Hindi-language sports comedy-drama directed by R. S. Prasanna. It serves as a standalone sequel/successor to Taare Zameen Par (2007) and a remake of the 2018 Spanish drama Champions. Sitaare Zameen Par centres on what haopens when a brash basketball coach is asked to train a team of differently-abled adults. Sitaare Zameen Par features Genelia as the leading lady.

Thunderbolts India box office: Florence Pugh's Marvel film earns just 27% of what Deadpool and Wolverine made

Thunderbolts India box office verdict: Thunderbolts, which hit the screens on Thursday ( May 1), opened to a decent response at the Indian box office and earned Rs 3.85 crore (nett) on the first day. The film then witnessed a drop on its first Friday and remained flat thereafter. The Marvel movie's run is now over and the verdict is out. Thunderbolts is a 'flop' in India Thunderbolts, the latest movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has ended its box office run and failed to live up to expectations. Given the tremendous popularity of Marvel films in India, the flick was expected to emerge as a runaway hit. This, however, has not happened. According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, it grossed only Rs 30 crore in India and ended up being a 'flop'. He added that it received a muted response from the audience. This and its $180 million budget worked against it. 'The film managed to gross around ₹30 cr in India. Considering the numbers (budget), the film couldn't perform as expected. Because of low reception from audiences the film ended up as a flop in India,' he told Indiatimes. Despite this, Thunderbolts fared better than Sinners. Michael B Jordan's vampire drama, which was shot on a budget of $90 million, earned just 11 crore in India. According to Manobala, it catered to a niche audience and this worked against it. Thunderbolts has also fared better than The Marvels. The poorly-received Brie Larson-led flick earned only Rs 8.40 crore in India. Thunderbolts has, however, failed to match the performance of Deadpool and Wolverine. The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-fronted biggie earned Rs 111 crore in India in its full run and emerged as a blockbuster. About Thunderbolts Thunderbolts is a superhero drama directed by Jake Schreier. The film centres on a group of antiheroes who unite for a dangerous mission. The film stars Florence Pugh, Sabastian Stan, and Wyatt Russel. It is the 36th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Jaat lifetime BO collection: Sunny Deol's film earns Rs 115 cr, trade analyst cites reason for mediocre show

Jaat lifetime box office collection: Sunny Deol's Jaat hit the screens on April 10 and opened to a decent response at the box office, and grossed Rs 9.5 crore worldwide on the first day. The film then witnessed growth in mass centres but remained flat in the urban areas. Now, nearly a month later, Jaat's run is over and its verdict is out. Jaat disappoints at the worldwide box office Jaat, Sunny Deol's first release after Gadar 2 (2023), has failed to live up to expectations despite the mass hero's popularity. According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, the actioner earned Rs 115 crore globally in its full run. This is not a bad figure when viewed in isolation. It, however, pales in comparison to what Gadar 2 made in its full run. Anil Sharma's well-received sequel to Gadar (2001) earned Rs 691 crore in its lifetime on a budget of Rs 60 crore and emerged as a blockbuster despite facing competition from Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 and the Rajinikanth-led Jailer. Jaat received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the presentation. Manobala feels that the average word-of-mouth stunted its performance at the box office. 'Jaat is an average to hit venture at the box office when compared with its budget. The film managed to fetch ₹115 cr across the world. It couldn't perform well because of mixed reactions and competition,' he told Indiatimes. Jaat was released alongside Ajith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly, which emerged as the top choice of the audience in the Tamil market and earned an impressive Rs 242 crore at the box office. Sunny Deol's film also faced competition from Kesari Chapter 2, which hit the screens the next week and did well in the urban market. About Jaat Jaat is an action drama directed by Gopichandh Mallineni. The film centres on a man of the masses as he locks horns with a criminal. The film features Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Regina Cassandra in the lead. The music is composed by S Thaman.

Sinners box office verdict: Michael B Jordan's vampire saga earns just Rs 11 crore in India, trade analyst explain why it flopped

Sinners box office verdict: The Hollywood film Sinners, which hit the screens in India on April 18, opened to a slow response at the domestic box office despite receiving positive reviews. It earned less than rs 1 crore (nett) on the first day and witnessed only limited growth over the weekend. Now, its box office run is over and the verdict is out. Sinners fails to work its magic in India Sinners, which was released in India last month, has failed to work its magic in the country. According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, the vampire saga earned just Rs 11 crore at the domestic box office. He added that the film did not create a buzz among the audience the way Marvel films do, which led to its downfall. 'Sinners was a flop in India. The film managed to collect just ₹11 cr. Despite positive reviews, Indian audience didn't show much intent to watch it on the big screens like Avengers, Spiderman, Avatar etc,' he told Indiatimes. This essentially means the film has failed to beat the lifetime haul of Thunderbolts, which open in theatres on May 1. The superhero saga earned Rs 15 crore in India in its full run. It benefited from the popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in India. Moreover, Florence Pugh is a known name in the market because of her work in the well-received biographical drama Oppenheimer. About Sinners Sinners, meanwhile, has done well globally despite its lacklustre performance in India. Its worldwide haul stands at $290 million, which is a stunning figure given the fact that the film has been shot on a budget of less than $100 million. Sinners is a horror thriller directed by Ryan Coogler. It revolves around twins who try to begin a new chapter in life. Their plans, however, go for a toss when a vampire arrives in their hometown. The cast is headlined by Michael B Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld. Sinners is produced by Zinvi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Ryan Coogler himself.

Initially believed to be a simple power failure, the outage was later linked to the military conflict.
