Jaat lifetime BO collection: Sunny Deol's film earns Rs 115 cr, trade analyst cites reason for mediocre show

Jaat lifetime box office collection: Sunny Deol's Jaat hit the screens on April 10 and opened to a decent response at the box office, and grossed Rs 9.5 crore worldwide on the first day. The film then witnessed growth in mass centres but remained flat in the urban areas. Now, nearly a month later, Jaat's run is over and its verdict is out.
Jaat disappoints at the worldwide box office
Jaat, Sunny Deol's first release after Gadar 2 (2023), has failed to live up to expectations despite the mass hero's popularity. According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, the actioner earned Rs 115 crore globally in its full run. This is not a bad figure when viewed in isolation.
It, however, pales in comparison to what Gadar 2 made in its full run. Anil Sharma's well-received sequel to Gadar (2001) earned Rs 691 crore in its lifetime on a budget of Rs 60 crore and emerged as a blockbuster despite facing competition from Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 and the Rajinikanth-led Jailer.
Jaat received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the presentation. Manobala feels that the average word-of-mouth stunted its performance at the box office.
'Jaat is an average to hit venture at the box office when compared with its budget. The film managed to fetch ₹115 cr across the world. It couldn't perform well because of mixed reactions and competition,' he told Indiatimes.
Jaat was released alongside Ajith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly, which emerged as the top choice of the audience in the Tamil market and earned an impressive Rs 242 crore at the box office. Sunny Deol's film also faced competition from Kesari Chapter 2, which hit the screens the next week and did well in the urban market.
About Jaat
Jaat is an action drama directed by Gopichandh Mallineni. The film centres on a man of the masses as he locks horns with a criminal. The film features Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Regina Cassandra in the lead. The music is composed by S Thaman.

Earlier, in During her conversation with Curly Tales, Smriti Irani shared an interesting anecdote about how she landed the role of Tulsi in "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi." She mentioned, "That didn't happen because of persona or personality or anything else. Astrologer baitha tha ek Ekta Kapoor ke office mein toh panditji ne kaha yeh joh ladki abhi ghum rahi hai wahan pe, isko rokiye, yeh kaun hai (An astrologer was sitting in Ekta Kapoor's office. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo So the priest said, 'Who is this girl roaming around? Unhone kahan isko agar tum rokoge, iss se kaam karoge, yeh bahut bada desh mein naam hone wali hai (So, she said, 'Why, why should we stop her?' He said, 'If you stop her, if you work with her, she is going to be a big name in the country). The minute the astrologer finished his sentence, Ekta immediately came and asked her 'What was I signing'. As per the contract, I was getting paid around Rs 1200-1300 per day." Smriti recalled the moment, mentioning that this was when Ekta Kapoor tore up her existing contract and chose to offer her a new one, paying her Rs 1,800 per day. She added, "Aur usne kaha kya sign kar rahi ho. Toh mujhe uss waqt kareeban rs 1200-1300 milen wale the uss contract mein. Aur main uss wqat naukri kar rahi thi Mc Donald's mein jhaadu pochhe ki jisme mahine ka Rs 1800 mil raha tha. Toh mere liye din ka Rs 1200 was much better than mahine ka Rs 1800. Mere paas uss waqt naukri nahi thi aisi. Agar aap Rs 1800 mahine ka kamate ho aur aap 22-23 saal ke ho aur aapko apna ghar chalana hai, aapke paas option nahi hai. " (He asked me, 'What are you signing?' I was going to receive between rupees 1200 to 1400 in the contract. At that time, I was working as a cleaner at McDonald's, earning Rs 1800 per month. So, earning Rs 1200 per day was much better for me than Rs 1800 per month. I didn't have another job then. When you're 22-23 years old, earning Rs 1800 per month and supporting a household, you don't have many options). The much-anticipated reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is set to premiere from July 29 at 10:30 PM. 'Maa' Box Office collection day 12: Kajol's mythological horror film touches Rs 33 crore despite slow second week

Kajol's new film 'Maa' may not be smashing records, but it is still holding its own at the Indian box office. This mythological horror story has taken a slightly slow yet steady journey, managing to keep audiences interested even as bigger titles compete for attention. A decent start, but sudden dips in week two 'Maa' began its theatrical run on a good note. The first week brought in fairly healthy numbers, collecting around Rs 26.5 crore. According to early estimates shared by Sacnilk, the film earned approximately Rs 0.85 crore on its 12th day, taking the total to nearly Rs 33.15 crore by the end of Tuesday, July 08, 2025. Facing tough competition The film's run at the box office is even more interesting when you look at the tough competition. Aamir Khan 's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and Anurag Basu 's multi-starrer 'Metro... In Dino' are also playing in cinemas. Even with these big films around, 'Maa' is still managing a decent run. Night shows are stronger Looking at the numbers for Tuesday, July 08, 2025, 'Maa' had an overall 22.42% Hindi occupancy. Morning shows were quite low at just 8.81%, but the film did better as the day went on. Afternoon shows had 20.48% occupancy, evening shows jumped to 25.32%, and night shows were the strongest with 35.08%. About the film: Kajol's new avatar 'Maa' is a mythological horror drama that brings a fresh twist to Kajol's career. She plays Ambika, a mother who goes through a frightening spiritual change. Her transformation, inspired by Goddess Kali, happens so she can save her daughter from a supernatural danger. It's a story that mixes horror with deep emotions of motherhood, giving fans something quite different to watch. 'Maa' movie review TOI gave the film 3 stars. Their official review says, "Kajol delivers a compelling performance as a mother pushed to the edge, balancing vulnerability with fierce resolve. Kherin Sharma and Rupkatha Chakraborty are both impressive as young girls caught in the storm of ancient evil. Ronit Bose Roy lends solid support as the village sarpanch. While it doesn't reinvent the genre, the film delivers a mythologically rooted horror tale that makes for a decent one-time watch. "
