Report: WWE Has Discussed Turning Top NXT Talent Heel
It seems that the babyface run for a top talent in WWE NXT could be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Last month, Blake Monroe (FKA AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May) made her WWE NXT debut to much fanfare. It appeared at the time that the company had big plans for her as a babyface. But that has seemingly changed. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), a heel run for Blake Monroe is already being discussed in NXT. While Sapp isn't sure when the turn will take place, it was discussed to take place in the 'near future.' Monroe had successful runs as both a heel and a babyface while part of the AEW roster. Despite it seeming like WWE is unsure what to do with Monroe, there are reportedly long-term plans for her character in NXT. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available. Tommy Dreamer Compares Recent WWE Signing To Joining The New York Yankees
Recently, WWE signed one of the hottest free agents in town. It was none other than former AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May. The Glamor now goes by the name Blake Monroe in NXT. Following her appearance on the Tuesday Night show, former WWE Hardcore Champion Tommy Dreamer compared her arrival on NXT to a baseball player getting signed by the New York Yankees. While speaking on the latest episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast, Tommy Dreamer shared why professional wrestlers want to sign with WWE. He also compared the signing to athletes wanting to join legendary sports teams such as the New York Yankees. Because they're the oldest, they've been around, it's the 'Pride of the Yankees. They've always been glamorized as the 'it' team.' Mariah May's New WWE Name Revealed
Mariah May finally has her WWE name, and it's bound to be divisive. The former AEW Women's World Champion was featured in a vignette this evening on WWE NXT, which gave off severe vibes of Timeless Toni Storm meets Barbie before revealing May's new name: Blake Monroe. Advertisement You can check out that vignette in the embedded post below: This name was revealed on social media before the segment aired on television, as WWE updated her social media account name minutes before the reveal. May getting a new name in WWE was inevitable following her NXT debut last week when the commentators refused to mention her by name. The company did a similar thing with Ricky Starks a few months ago. However, he would be allowed to keep the Ricky name and eventually became Ricky Saints. Monroe's first feud is currently unknown. However, it seems clear WWE intends to fast-track her into a match against NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne. Report: AEW Star Signed To New Long-Term Deal
Willow Nightingale isn't going anywhere anytime soon. According to a new report from Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp, Nightingale has re-signed with All Elite Wrestling on a multi-year contract. The exact terms of the deal are unknown, but Fightful's report notes that Nightingale is 'very happy' with the company, and wanted to stay with AEW. Advertisement Prior reports noted that Nightingale was in a contract year with the company. However, Fightful's previous report also mentioned that AEW was keen on keeping the star around. Throughout her career with AEW, Nightingale has been a mainstay in the company. She's a former AEW TBS Champion, and also won the 2023 Women's Owen Hart Cup. Currently, she's a member of The Conglomeration, alongside Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, and Tomohiro Ishii. With Nightingale's contract situation wrapped up, eyes now turn elsewhere. Former AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May is also in a contract year. Her status remains unknown, with many believeing the star to be bound for WWE. THE WWE have been caught in a major blunder after their new glamorous wrestler was accidently names after a PORN STAR. Mariah May is joining the WWE, having moved on from rival league the AEW. 7 7 The stunning blonde made her debut in the WWE on "NXT" but did so anonymously. Monroe, 26, has now been announced as the league's next wrestling star. However, due to the WWE being keen to secure the rights to the wrestler's names, she was given a new identity. This is where the gaffe has been made, as she was unveiled as Blake Monroe. Fans reacted to the botch job in the comment section of the post unveiling Monroe. One posted: "Blake Monroe? C'mon, WWE, you can do better than that." A second wrote: "Oh brother. What a horrible name change." A fourth said: "The name isn't giving but congrats to her."
