Fans Hit Out At ‘Piece of S–t' Marilyn Manson After Disgraced Rocker's Video Tribute During Final Black Sabbath Show

Marilyn Manson was not part of the line-up for Saturday's (July 5) epic Back to the Beginning final concert by a reunited Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. While a murder's row of hard rock and heavy metal superstars took the stage at Villa Park in Birmingham, England to fête the Prince of Darkness in what was billed as Osbourne's last-ever show with original Sabbath mates guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, Manson beamed in with a video message paying homage. But based on some fan reaction to the gesture, it was not well-received by all. 'F–k that guy he's a rapist piece of s–t,' wrote one fan after video of the tribute was posted. In the clip, Manson (born Brian Warner), 56 — who was accused in lawsuits from four women of sexual assault and domestic abuse — said, 'It is a great honor to be here via this video,' according to the NME. 'And I'd like to say congratulations, and I love you very much, Ozzy.' 'Eurgh Marilyn Manson making an appearance on the sabbath stream. F–k that guy he's a rapist piece of s–t,' wrote one, with others adding, 'Marilyn Manson on the black sabbath stream f–k off' and 'disgraceful that he is on this otherwise outstanding Black Sabbath show.' According to British media reports, some fans at the show booed during the video or turned their backs on Manson's video. At press time a spokesperson for Manson had not returned Billboard's request for comment. It did not appear as if Manson, who performed on Ozzfest in 1997, 2001, 2003, 2017 and 2018, and, like many on the bill has long cited Osbourne and Sabbath as a formative rock influence, was invited to participate in Saturday's show. The feeling of some was summed up by another tweet that read, 'ew marilyn manson go away.' Manson has long denied the sexual abuse allegations, which have resulted in his being dropped by his label, manager and booking agent, and, most recently, the Oct. 29 One Assassination Under God tour kick-off gig in Brighton, U.K. getting cancelled at the urging of members of Parliament. In January, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced that it wouldn't file criminal charges against Manson in the cases, citing the expiration of the statute of limitations and insufficient evidence in the alleged incidents that prosecutors said happened between 2009 and 2011. Black Sabbath final show sparks backlash after 'scumbag' musician's appearance

Black Sabbath's farewell show was an emotional one for the band and fans alike but it has been tainted for some by one musician's inclusion. Various messages of thanks for the band were played on the screen throughout the gig, which saw the likes of Metallica and Slayer take the stage. One stood out for the wrong reasons for some fans as Marilyn Manson, 53, came on screen to speak about his love for Ozzy Osbourne and the band. 'It is a great honour to be here via this video, and I'd like to say congratulations, and I love you very much Ozzy,' he said in a pre-recorded message. Since 2021, there have been a slew of sexual abuse allegations levelled at Manson, real name Brian Warner. He has denied everything. 'Eurgh Marilyn Manson making an appearance on the sabbath stream,' wrote TrueBlueWhoDat on X. 'F**k that guy he's a piece of s**t.' 'ew marilyn manson go away,' added ThatMetalNessie as fanofwolvesetc said: 'Marilyn Manson on the black sabbath stream f**k off.' Ruemorgue blasted: 'Marilyn Manson speaking at the Black Sabbath farewell concert? Phil Anselmo performing? They really brought all the scumbags together.' Phil Anselmo, frontman for Pantera, previously shouted 'white power' while on stage in 2016 and did a Nazi salute, for which he later apologised. Manson's accusers include Evan Rachel Wood, who in February 2021 alleged he had abused her 'for years' while in a relationship. She became involved with him when she was 18 and he was 38 and said he 'essentially raped her' on camera while filming a music video. The Westworld star released her documentary Phoenix Rising in 2022, stating that the incident was 'traumatising' and that she 'did not feel safe'. 'I felt disgusting and like I had done something shameful, and I could tell that the crew was very uncomfortable and nobody knew what to do,' she alleged. 'I was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretences. That's when the first crime was committed against me and I was essentially raped on camera.' His lawyer called it an 'imaginative retelling' of the making of the Heart-Shaped Glasses music video and denied the accusation. Manson's own defamation lawsuit against Wood was thrown out of court, with the Disposable Teens singer paying her almost $327,000 (£238,303) in attorney fees. Other women have also accused Manson of abuse, including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco who filed aginst him on allegations of rape and sexual battery. An out-of-court settlement was reportedly reached 'in order to move on with her life and career', according to her lawyer. Another 2021 lawsuit, in which his anonymous ex-girlfriend claimed he raped her and threatened to kill her, was settled a week before the trial was due to start. He has previously stated his relationships 'have always been entirely consensual', and called the accusations 'horrible distortions of reality'. While Manson continues to deny the allegations, the Beautiful People singer recently had his Brighton show cancelled after protests. More Trending Brighton Pavilion MP Sian Berry wrote an open letter to Brighton and Hove City Council last month, calling for the show to be axed. Co-signed by various groups, it read: 'Many survivors in Brighton and Hove, and organisations supporting them, will have serious concerns about this booking and its wider impact on other people visiting the city centre, local residents and the wider community.' His shows in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Nottingham, Manchester, and London are still planned to go ahead. Metro has reached out to Manson and Black Sabbath's teams for comment. The appearance followed the cancellation of Manson's Brighton concert two weeks prior, due to pressure from campaign groups and an MP. Marilyn Manson sparks controversy as he appears at Black Sabbath's farewell show and pays tribute to Ozzy Osbourne in video message - after his UK gig was axed amid backlash

Marilyn Manson sparked controversy as he appeared at Black Sabbath's Back to The Beginning farewell concert on Saturday night. The rock star, 56, featured in a video message as the concert got underway and paid tribute to his 'friend' Ozzy Osbourne on his final ever show. In the pre-recorded message, he gushed: 'It is a great honour to be here in this video and I'd like to say congratulations and I love you very much Ozzy,' according to footage shared online. However, his inclusion left some fans unimpressed after his upcoming gig at Brighton Centre in October was cancelled after pressure from campaigners. Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, was accused by a dozen women of sex abuse, rape, and torture. He has vehemently denied all the allegations. In January, US prosecutors announced that they would not be pursuing charges against Marilyn following a four-year investigation due to lack of sufficient evidence. Despite this, some fans were still unimpressed by Manson's video message airing at Villa Park and took to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their fury. Comments included: 'F*** Marilyn Manson, he's a piece of s***'; 'Ew Marilyn Manson go away'; 'Disgraceful that he is on this otherwise outstanding Black Sabbath show'; Marilyn Manson speaking at the Black Sabbath farewell concert?'; 'Marilyn Manson on the Black Sabbath stream f*** off.' MailOnline has contacted Marilyn's representatives for comment. Ozzy is performing at his final ever live show on Saturday night amid his ailing health and the show - which also features performances from other major rock bands - is also being aired via an online stream. Last month, it emerged that Manson's concert in Brighton on October 29 - the first show in his UK tour - had been cancelled after a public backlash. Fans received a message from Ticketmaster informing that that 'this event has been cancelled' and the show was also removed from Manson's website. Instead, Manson's tour, titled One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1, will now begin in Bournemouth on October 31, followed by another four UK dates. The cancellation followed an open letter to Brighton and Hove City Council calling for the concert to be axed. In the letter, Green Party MP Sian Berry wrote: 'Many survivors in Brighton and Hove, and organisations supporting them, will have serious concerns about this booking and its wider impact on other people visiting the city centre, local residents and the wider community.' The letter was co-signed by the University of Sussex's students' union and some victim support groups. 'The council has a responsibility to take action where there are risks of discrimination, harassment and victimisation,' Berry added. According to The Guardian, Manson's supporters argued that the decision infringed on freedom of speech given the singer has not been found guilty of allegations against him. In January, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that his office would not be pursuing charges against Manson. He said: 'We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations and we cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt. 'We recognize and applaud the courage and resilience of the women who came forward to make reports and share their experiences, and we thank them for their cooperation and patience with the investigation. 'While we are unable to bring charges in this matter, we recognize that the strong advocacy of the women involved has helped bring greater awareness to the challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.' Howard King, Brian Warner's attorney, told in a statement: 'We are very pleased that, after a thorough and incredibly lengthy review of all of the actual evidence, the District Attorney has concluded what we knew and expressed from the start - Brian Warner is innocent.' Manson settled lawsuits by two women including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco in 2023. Bianco spoke out after the announcement, saying she was 'deeply disappointed but not surprised'. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigated Manson for 19 months before turning its evidence over to prosecutors in 2022. His ex-girlfriend, actress Evan Rachel Wood, also accused him of sex crimes but never filed a lawsuit, with Manson vehemently denying all accusations. Manson filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood and her friend, Illma Gore, over what he called 'malicious' and 'false' sexual abuse allegations which 'derailed his successful music, TV and film career'. In March 2022, Manson filed the suit against the Westworld actress prior to the release of her HBO documentary Phoenix Rising: Don't Fall. In the two-part documentary, Wood said Manson, who she was engaged to at one point, sexually assaulted and emotionally abused her during the time they were in a relationship from 2006 until 2010. Manson subsequently faced further allegations of abuse from more than 12 women after the documentary aired. A judge threw out parts of Manson's lawsuit in August of last year, and Manson then dropped the case in November.

Controversial singer's UK tour date cancelled after sex abuse allegations

Marilyn Manson's Brighton show has been cancelled following his sex abuse allegations. The Tainted Love hitmaker, 56, was due to perform at the Brighton Centre on October 29 to kick off his One Assassination Under God Tour. But mounting pressure from concerned music fans and protests has led to the show being axed. A slew of sexual abuse allegations were levelled against the singer, real name Brian Hugh Warner, since 2021, including a rape case brought by an ex-girlfriend, known anonymously as Jane Doe. The singer settled the case one week before it was due to begin, and last year signed a new record deal with Nuclear Blast. Manson has denied all the claims, stating his relationships 'have always been entirely consensual', and called the accusations 'horrible distortions of reality'. A message on the Ticketmaster website about the event reads: 'This event has been cancelled. 'Ticket sales have stopped, but there may be tickets available for other dates.' Brighton Pavilion MP Sian Berry wrote an open letter to Brighton and Hove City Council earlier this month calling for the show to be axed. Co-signed by various groups, it read: 'Many survivors in Brighton and Hove, and organisations supporting them, will have serious concerns about this booking and its wider impact on other people visiting the city centre, local residents and the wider community.' Additional Marilyn Manson shows in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Nottingham, Manchester, and London are still planned to go ahead. Per GB News, Liberal Democrat leader Millie Earl told a Bournemouth council meeting that the International Centre shows should be cancelled to 'reinforce the message that violence against women and girls isn't something that's acceptable in our community.' In January, it was announced that US prosecutors would not file charges against the Beautiful People singer following investigations into allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that the allegations lacked sufficient evidence to bring charges and were deemed too old under the law. Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco and Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood were among the accusers. With regards to Bianco's lawsuit, Manson settled out of court, while parts of Manson's own defamation lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood were thrown out of court. More Trending Manson then dropped the defamation lawsuit and paid her almost $327,000 (£238,303) in attorney fees. Wood previously shared her allegations of rape and abuse In 2017, when the #MeToo movement gained momentum, before giving testimony to a Congressional committee in 2018, both without naming anyone. In a lengthy Instagram post in 2021, she finally named Manson and claimed that he groomed her as a teenager and said that he 'horrifically abused her for years'.
