Masry appoint Tunisian coach Kouki as new manager - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side Masry have appointed Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki as their new manager, the Port Said-based club announced on Monday. Kouki replaces interim coach Mimi Abdel-Razek, who led the team through the end of the season following the departure of fellow Tunisian Anis Boujelbene. The 55-year-old spent last season with Algerian club ES Sétif, guiding them to a sixth-place finish in the domestic league. Kouki began his coaching career in 2010 and has managed several clubs across the region, including Al Hilal (Sudan), Al Faisaly (Jordan), Ittihad Tripoli (Libya), as well as Tunisian sides CS Sfaxien, Club Africain and Stade Tunisien. His only major title came with ES Sétif, winning the Algerian league in 2023. Masry finished fourth in the Egyptian Premier League and will represent Egypt in next season's CAF Confederation Cup alongside Zamalek. Ahly go top Egyptian league after 4-2 win over Masry - Egyptian Football

Ahly climbed to the top of the Egyptian Premier League with a 4-2 victory over Masry at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on Thursday, with three matches remaining in the season. The win took Ahly to 49 points, two ahead of title rivals Pyramids FC, who will have a chance to reclaim top spot when they face NBE Club on Friday. Masry took an early lead in the sixth minute when forward Salah Mohsen headed in a cross from Karim El-Eraki. Despite dominating possession, Ahly initially struggled to break down Masry's defence and failed to test goalkeeper Mahmoud Gad. Ahly eventually equalized in the 35th minute when Emam Ashour slotted home from a Wessam Abou Ali pass. Two minutes later, Abou Ali thought he had given Ahly the lead, but his effort was disallowed following a VAR review. The Red Devils went ahead five minutes before halftime after Gad fumbled an Achraf Bencharki cross, allowing Taher Mohamed to tap in from close range. Ahly extended their lead early in the second half when Gad misjudged a free kick, moving the wrong way as Abou Ali's effort found the net in the other direction. After winning the spot-kick, Ashour added his second goal of the night from the penalty spot in the 79th minute. It marked his 11th league goal of the season, putting him atop the league's scoring chart. Masry grabbed a late consolation through substitute Fakhreddine Ben Youssef, who scored with a well-placed header. Ahly next face Ceramica Cleopatra on Tuesday. Preview: Ahly seek to maintain winning rhythm against Masry in tough league clash - Egyptian Football

Defending champions Ahly will be desperate for a win on Thursday when they face Masry in a league game at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium, as the Red Devils cannot afford to drop any points in their tight title race with Pyramids FC Ahly currently sit second in the table with 46 points, just one point behind leaders Pyramids FC, who handed the Red Devils a boost by losing to Pharco FC on Sunday. Pyramids FC will also face a tough challenge on Friday when they visit Ceramica Cleopatra. Ahly will be without the support of their fans, after the competitions committee sanctioned the club to play two matches behind closed doors—a significant blow during this crucial period of the season. Nevertheless, Ahly capitalized on Pyramids' stumble by routing Harras El-Hodoud 5–0, narrowing the gap to just one point. The match featured a strong performance from the team under interim coach Emad El-Nahass, who took over from Swiss manager Marcel Koller last month. El-Nahass's debut was far from easy, as Ahly edged Petrojet 3–2 in a thrilling encounter before the dominant victory over Harras El-Hodoud. However, Masry present a tougher challenge than Ahly's previous two opponents. Even without their Algerian star Abderrahim Deghmoum, the Port Said-based team remains strong with players like Mahmoud Hamada, Salah Mohsen, and Mido Gaber. 'Our target is to maintain our winning rhythm in this difficult league campaign,' Ahly interim coach Emad El-Nahass told reporters. El-Nahass has a full squad available, with the exception of veteran defender Rami Rabia, who is likely to miss the game due to an injury sustained in the win over Harras El-Hodoud. On the other side, Masry are led by Tunisian coach Anis Boujelbene, a former Ahly midfielder during the early 2000s. Masry have already held both Pyramids FC and Zamalek to goalless draws in the playoffs and are hoping to secure another positive result against another title contender.
