Create Account Bradley McMichael, a farmer in the small town of Jones suffered deep lacerations in the attack Friday night, Jones Police Chief Bryan Farrington said in a statement. The animals were so aggressive that first responders couldn't get to the victim at first, he said. One water buffalo was euthanized immediately and the other was put down after it became increasingly agitated and threatening, Farrington said. Police say they believe McMichael had purchased the two animals a day earlier and became trapped inside in an enclosure while he was tending to them. McMichael's former wife, Amy Smith, said caring for livestock was his passion. 'The cattle farming, that's his thing,' Smith told television station KFOR. 'He's been here his whole life, and he's done that his whole life. 'So he's an experienced cattle handler and a farmer.' Although water buffalo are not commonly raised in the U.S., they are known for their milk production and lean cuts of beef, according to the Arkansas Farm Bureau. (Image via Getty: Connor McMichael) A breakaway goal is when an NHL player with possession of the puck goes ahead of all the defending players and faces only the goaltender, and in that moment, he attempts to score a goal! Precisely what the 24-year-old Canadian professional ice hockey center for the Washington Capitals , Connor McMichael , did! He found the unoccupied puck and attempted to take it towards the Carolina Hurricanes ' net! Watch here! An X user commented, 'What a beauty by McMichael! Perfect finish on the break. Operation Sindoor Operation Sindoor: 'India won't give face-saving exit to Pak army chief Asim Munir' Pak def min gives absurd excuse for army's failure to withstand Op Sindoor '1971 war was not remotely as terrifying': Residents of border areas shell-shocked This kid's got serious potential.' Go team. ', and a third fan said, 'Man of the wolf ' Connor McMichael opens Round 2 Game 2 with a breakaway score, and his team, the Washington Capitals, wins against the Carolina Hurricanes by a riveting score of 3-1 Sometimes, the confidence you carry in the first few minutes of the game matters a lot! It's the kind of confidence that leaves a condescending mark on the opposing team! It somehow affects the opposing team, and they carry a laid-back attitude during the entire game. Exactly what Connor McMichael did! He carried confidence! And, the Carolina Hurricanes couldn't stand a chance against the Capitals! - In Game 2 of Round 2 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs . And the best part about intimidating a goaltender? Connor McMichael faced Frederik Andersen with a loose puck. Before Andersen could even predict, analyze, and implement his actions, McMichael aimed for the goal crease! And his puck went straight above Andersen's head, hit the goal crease, and landed on the Carolina Hurricanes' net! Wow! What a breakaway goal. Connor McMichael talked about his breakaway goal with My San Antonio(MySA) news, 'The first game didn't go our way, weren't too happy with that. Got outplayed pretty bad there. So I think it was a really good response by our group. We were moving pucks quicker. I think we weren't hanging onto it and looking for the perfect play. We were kind of just getting it out of our zone and forcing them to make plays.' 'He kept us in the game. He gave us confidence.' WWE and AEW Legends Mourn Death of Former Four Horsemen & NFL Hall of Famer
Steve "Mongo" McMichael has died at the age of 67. After a long bout with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), McMichael passed away in Joliet, IL, in the same state where he starred for the Chicago Bears in the late 1970s and through the 1980s. After McMichael's Hall-of-Fame football career ended, he had a successful career in professional wrestling, first as a broadcaster and then as an in-ring competitor and member of the legendary Four Horsemen faction. Several former professional football players and wrestling legends took to social media to pay their respects to McMichael. Getty Images North America Ric Flair, who has consistently posted updates about Mongo's condition posted a touching tribute to McMichael: WCW legend Sting also posted a tribute to McMichael reflecting on his final conversations with him. All Elite Wrestling posted this classy tribute image and post. WWE Raw General Manager, Adam Pearce paid homage to McMichael with an image and reflection on Mongo's professional accomplishments. WWE legend, Brian Heffron aka The Blue Meanie posted an image and a memory of a conversation he had with McMichael. Wrestling icon, Missy Hyatt also posted about McMichael. McMichael battled the disease since being diagnosed in 2021. Despite his declining health, he remained a source of strength and inspiration for fans of both football and wrestling. His story resonated beyond the ring or the field—it became a message about resilience, loyalty, and legacy. Advertisement McMichael's impact spanned two arenas—football and professional wrestling—each of which felt his presence in different ways. In the NFL, he was one of the anchors of the famed 1985 Chicago Bears defense, a Super Bowl-winning team etched into football history. McMichael was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024. In wrestling, he was both a surprising and successful crossover, eventually joining one of the sport's most iconic stables. His personality, toughness, and charisma translated in ways few athletes have ever managed when crossing over from one entertainment field to another. As a Chicagoan who was in love with that 1985 Bears team, I am especially sad to cover the news of Mongo's passing. Expect WWE to acknowledge McMichael on Friday's episode of SmackDown as AEW did on Wednesday night for Dynamite. His presence meant enough to professional wrestling to be universally recognized. Gary Police work with FBI to investigate teenage girl's disappearance, offer $20K for information
For Dalia Guerrero, a new update in the investigation to find her granddaughter gives her hope. 'We're happy that they're doing something and just not doing anything,' Guerrero said. 'We don't want this to be a cold case, by any means.' The Gary Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation announced Monday that the two agencies are working together to find Ja'Niyah McMichael, a 14-year-old girl who has been missing since Aug. 12, 2024. The two agencies are also offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved with McMichael's disappearance. The city of Gary and FBI are both offering $10,000 each. A news release from the two agencies said investigators believe McMichael might be the victim of foul play, and the search remains an active and ongoing investigation. McMichael's 14th birthday was Monday, Guerrero said. 'She should be like any other 14-year-old today,' Guerrero added. 'She should be having a birthday party with her friends and family.' Jasmine McMichael, Ja'Niyah McMichael's mother, first reported her daughter missing from their home in the 1900 block of Malcolm X Drive in Gary. McMichael was seen wearing a black hoodie, black pajamas and red and black Air Jordans. The city of Gary first released an update on McMichael's disappearance on Oct. 5, 2024. In October, the city said it was working with the FBI and Department of Child Services to investigate the case, reported tips and leads, according to the city's website. 'We strongly urge the public to refrain from sharing unvetted information as this can severely impede the ongoing investigation,' Gary's October news release said. 'Our actions to date have been aimed at ensuring compliance with the law and preserving the integrity of the investigation.' The city of Gary has not included another update on McMichael's investigation online since October. In September, Darnell Compton Jr., 31, was charged with starting a brawl during a search party for McMichael, according to Post-Tribune archives. He was charged with three counts of battery, one count of strangulation and three misdemeanors. Darnell has a hearing scheduled for the end of May, according to online court records. Jasmine McMichael said Compton showed up uninvited with several family members and wanted to take their other children with him, according to Post-Tribune archives. Compton fought multiple people, including Jasmine McMichael, her aunt, Dequan Jones, and tried to punch an officer as he was arrested. McMichael was originally reported as a runaway, according to Post-Tribune archives. Guerrero said in January that the family didn't believe that theory. Representatives from the city of Gary did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday, including about why the reward money was now announced. Police Chief Derrick Cannon has continually communicated with Guerrero, she said Monday. 'They're still working on (McMichael's investigation),' Guerrero said. 'We're just missing her and wish someone would speak.' Anyone with information is urged to come forward, according to the release from the FBI and city of Gary.
