CONFIRMED: Another one bites the dust at Kaizer Chiefs!

Kaizer Chiefs have been making signings and releasing players ahead of the beginning of the transfer window. This in what is expected to be a seen where Chiefs rebuild their squad in an attempt to reclaim the glory days. There have been quite a few rumours with regards to who Chiefs are targeting. But before those players come in, they're moving quickly to free up some space. Last week, they announced the departures of academy products Sabelo Radebe and Njabulo Blom. Following that, they have now confirmed the release of striker Ranga Chivaviro. The names of Tebogo Potsane, Mduduzi Mdantsane and George Matlou have also been touted for an exit. It has gone quiet on Potsane and there looks to have been a U-turn on Matlou, it's different for Mdantsane. That is because Chiefs have confirmed that the playmaker has become the latest player to be released by the club. 'Kaizer Chiefs and midfielder, Mduduzi Mdantsane have mutually agreed to part ways. The 30-year-old player joined Amakhosi from Cape Town City at the beginning of the 2023/24 season. Last season, in order to accumulate some game-time after recovering from injury, he spent the latter part the campaign on loan at Richards Bay FC. During his time with Chiefs, Mdantsane made 16 appearances across all competitions. We wish Mdu all the best!' Wrote the club on their website. Mdantsane joined Chiefs from Cape Town City two seasons ago. This was a move that had Amakhosi fans excited. It also marked a return to the club for the Bafana Bafana international who is their academy product. In the end it ended up being anticlimax with the player failing to score and assisting twice in 16 appearances. Chiefs fans, do you feel that it was the right decision to let go of Mdantsane? Mdantsane joined Chiefs ahead of the start of the 2023/24 campaign, but failed to nail down a place as a first team regular. Not many Chiefs appearances He made just 16 appearances for Amakhosi in all competitions. Mdantsane joined Richards Bay on loan from Chiefs in January, in order to get more regular game time. This did not materialise, however, as he made just three substitute appearances for the Natal Rich Boyz, who opted not to sign him on a permanent deal. Mdantsane, 30, is now a free agent and will hope to find himself a new club before the 2025/26 campaign kicks off. Mdantsane's 16 appearances for Chiefs all came in the 2023/24 season, and he suffered a blow before the new campaign as he broke his jaw in a car accident. 'Too much pressure' 'The team I come from (Chiefs) has too much pressure, there's no chance. So, when you come from a situation where you were disturbed, when you come back they expect you to perform now. They don't care where you come from with your situation, they want things to happen now,' Mdantsane told Ukhozi FM after moving to Richards Bay. Bobby to meet with Kaizer Chiefs' R3 million flop

Kaizer Chiefs are set to part ways with midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane after just two years. The 30-year-old joined the Soweto giants in June 2023 for a reported transfer fee of R3.5 million from Cape Town City but failed to settle. He made 13 league appearances for Amakhosi during the 2023/24 season; however, he failed to make a single appearance for the club last year. Mdantsane was subsequently loaned out to Richards Bay FC in January this year, but only featured three times. It is believed that Chiefs are looking to seal the midfielder's fate in the coming days. According to KickOff , the former Cape Town City star is set to meet with Amakhosi Football Manager Bobby Motaung over his future. 'They are still finalising a few things before Kaizer Chiefs announce his departure. The club is set to meet the player before the end of this week to shake hands and do a proper farewell,' a source told the publication. Kaizer Chiefs have released four players this past week as part of their efforts to revamp the team for next season. The players released are Edmilson Dove, Sabelo Radebe, Njabulo Blom, and Ranga Chivaviro. On Tuesday, Amakhosi announced that the Mozambican defender, Edmilson Dove, is no longer contracted to the team after three years with the club. 'Kaizer Chiefs and defender Edmilson Dove will part ways when his contract expires at the end of June,' the club said in a statement. Amakhosi are set to jet off to the Netherlands for their pre-season training. Kaizer Chiefs midfielder to restart his career in KZN?

Mduduzi Mdantsane has been forgotten as a Kaizer Chiefs footballer. New reports suggest the dream is over. The 30-year-old attacking midfielder from Leandra, Mpumalanga, first made his name at Baroka FC in 2017 before playing his best football at Cape Town City FC in 2019. Kaizer Chiefs came calling in 2023. With only 16 appearances at Kaizer Chiefs, Mdantsane was surprisingly loaned out to Richards Bay FC in January. The skilful attacker played no more than three games at the Natal Rich Boyz as he looks ahead to preseason with Amakhosi. Nevertheless, reports say Richards Bay are keen to sign Mdantsane from Kaizer Chiefs. 'He didn't play much this season after joining the team in January but it's believed that the technical team is interested in keeping him after the loan deal ends,' Soccer Laduma reported. 'Apparently, they believe he has a lot to offer to the team because of his experience. 'I don't think it will be a problem from Kaizer Chiefs' point of view as even in this past season they were willing to let him go permanently but at that time there was not much interest in signing him permanently. 'But apparently at the moment Richards Bay have shown interest and it's believed it will all depend on the talks and negotiations. But the interest is there from Richards Bay,' the insider concluded. Cape Town City's struggles continue as key player losses and coaching changes hamper performance

The loss of key players over the past 18 months seems to be at the heart of Cape Town City's current problems, as their downward spiral continues unabated. City took leave of key players like Mduduzi Mdantsane (94 caps), Khanyisa Mayo (50), and Keanu Cupido (116), and their absence has left a significant gap that the club has struggled to fill. The poor results during the early season raised concerns about the club's capacity to contend effectively in the league this season. During the off-season, City chairman John Comitis was a busy man. He made a host of signings to bolster the squad. It was one of the most active transfer windows in the Premier Soccer League, as City aimed to fill the void left by the departing talents. Retired Cape Town Spurs midfielder Michael Morton, who has over 250 Premiership appearances while playing for Bidvest Wits, Maritzburg United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu, is now a football analyst. He has been keeping an eye on local soccer and has been an admirer of City. "It is a fantastic football club with great people in it and a good support base in Cape Town. It's absolutely vital that they stay in the PSL and avoid relegation," said Morton. "Whatever the guys have to do, let's hope they do it and survive." At the start of the season, Morton said City looked like a club that would dominate the upper echelons of the Premiership standings this season. "At the beginning of the season, I thought they had a balanced squad. I ranked them as a team I thought would finish in the top four or five places. I thought they looked strong," said Morton. "But looking back now, throughout the season, it seems they didn't have the firepower they needed. They didn't have goal scorers up front. "Selling Mayo took away a lot of their goal-scoring threats. They looked underpowered, and Mdantsane was a big loss as well. With these players, they lost a lot of their goals." In January, City fired their coach Eric Tinkler, who had been at the helm for three seasons. However, the team continued with a string of poor results. He was replaced by the highly experienced Muhsin Ertugral, who also struggled to steer the ship to safer waters. "There was a question of players being used correctly. I think the main issue was they had multiple coaches this season. It calls for changing and adapting to different playing styles, in line with the different coaches' instructions," said Morton. "It hasn't been easy at all from that point of view for the players." Losing (defender) Cupido in January as well was a massive blow, but again, I don't think the problems lie at the back. I think the problems are more in terms of goal-scoring and chance creation." "Once they lost Eric and then the Ertugral move didn't work, he wasn't supposed to coach because he came in as technical director for the following season. City could not have predicted things to go so wrong." "It's down to the senior players and everybody else to try to pull together to get that club over the line."
