Naidu calls for collective efforts to protect, nurture schools

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday appealed to people to collectively protect and nurture schools, 'which are modern temples of learning.' The Chief Minister was addressing a huge gathering of students, parents, and teachers at the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting 2.0 held at the ZP High School in Kothacheruvu of Sri Sathya Sai district. Mr. Naidu reiterated his government's commitment to usher in a knowledge-driven, morally groomed student community. Expressing a word of praise for Education Minister Nara Lokesh for 'successfully implementing the Mega PTM across 61,000 schools in the State,' the Chief Minister said that the landmark event saw the participation of 2.28 crore people. He said it would qualify for the Guinness World Record. Focusing on the importance of families in shaping a student's success, Mr. Naidu narrated a personal anecdote, crediting his wife Bhuvaneshwari for Lokesh's academic success at the Cambridge and Stanford, as 'I was unable to attend parent meetings due to official duties.' Acknowledging the importance of holistic progress cards, the Chief Minister urged for wider parental involvement in tracking students' multiple indicators of health, behaviour, and studies. 'The students and youth should not limit their prowess to getting jobs, but also extend their vistas and join politics and serve society,' Naidu said. Elaborating on the Thalliki Vandanam initiative, Mr. Naidu said that several lakhs of mothers had been supported to educate their children with dignity. The Chief Minister announced ₹2 crore for the construction of a stadium in district headquarters Puttaparthi, saying that the State government was focussed on strengthening and expanding infrastructure and resources in government schools. Drug trafficking The Chief Minister vowed to crush the menace of drug use and trafficking in the State, warning that the properties of offenders will be seized and welfare benefits withdrawn. 'It must be clear that there should be no future for drug peddling and consumption of drugs as they are the enemies to the development of youth,' Mr. Naidu asserted, faulting the previous YSR Congress Party government of encouraging ganja cultivation in the North Andhra region and its largescale peddling. Blaming the previous government for irresponsible and negligent handling of the education sector, Mr. Naidu said that his government could successfully conduct a Mega DSC to appoint 16,347 teachers in a fool-proof and transparent mode. Later, the Chief Minister along with Mr. Lokesh took part in the community lunch with students, parents and teachers. District Collector T.S. Chetan, SP V. Ratna, district MLAs and senior leaders of the Telugu Desam Party were present.

Over 2 crore to participate in Mega PTM 2.0 event in A.P.

The launch of the Mega Parent-Teacher Meet (PTM) 2.0, a landmark initiative by the Andhra Pradesh government, is set to witness the participation of over 2 crore people from across the State on a single day. Spearheaded by Education Minister Nara Lokesh, the programme aims to bring students, teachers, parents, school management committees, donors, alumni, and government officials together under one platform to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of school education. The flagship event will be held on Thursday at the Zilla Parishad High School, Kothacheruvu, in Puttaparthi Assembly constituency, and will be attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Lokesh, who will directly interact with students, parents, and teachers. Statewide celebration The State government has transformed this initiative into a Statewide celebration. The programme will be conducted in 61,000 educational institutions, including government, aided, unaided schools, and junior colleges. Participants include 74,96,228 students, 3,32,770 teachers, 1,49,92,456 parents and donors, adding up to a staggering 2.28 crore people coming together in what is expected to be a record-breaking community event in the education sector. What was once a norm limited to private and corporate schools — the PTMs — are now being mainstreamed into the public education system. Under the stewardship of Mr. Lokesh, the government has institutionalised the Mega PTM as an annual event. Now in its second year, the PTM has evolved into a State festival that bridges the gap between schools and families. The PTM 2.0 will offer parents insights into their children's academic progress, behavioural development, and social awareness. In a major step towards transparency and inclusivity, the government will be distributing comprehensive progress cards to parents during the event. The forum will also allow parents to share feedback and suggestions with the government. Discussions on school infrastructure, teaching quality, and student welfare are expected to take centre stage during this day-long engagement. The initiative not only reinforces the government's commitment to educational reforms, but also sets a national benchmark in participatory governance in the school system, according to a press release.

Eluru: District collector K Vetriselvi said that the Mega Parents-Teachers Meet planned by the state government should also be organised in all private schools in the district. She convened a meeting with the management of private schools at the Collectorate here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the state government has initiated the Mega Parents-Teacher Meeting (PTM) as part of the reforms in the education sector and that the Mega PTM 2.0 programme is being organised in all government, private aided, private unaided and junior colleges across the state on July 10. The programme will be organised in 1,810 government and 558 private schools in the district, a total of 2,368 schools, and 140 junior colleges. The management of private schools should be partners in this programme to make this programme successful. Steps should be taken to ensure that the students prepare invitations for the programmes to be held on that day and send them to parents and dignitaries. First, the students should welcome the parents and dignitaries, organise a salute to the mother to convey the importance of the mother, perform cultural programmes, and conduct a photo session with students and teachers. They should plant saplings with the students in the school premises and take steps to ensure that the students protect the planted saplings for three months. Green passports would be provided to the students who plant saplings. They should organise interactive sessions on mental health, awareness on cybercrime, anti-drug awareness messages, and child progress. Private school managements should take steps to organise Mega PTM in their other branches in the district as well, and it should be held in a festive atmosphere rather than as a formality, and schools that do not have a large space should hold it outside in a spacious area. Private school managements should upload photos and videos of not more than 30 seconds of Mega PTM events held in their schools on the Leap app. District Education Officer Venkata Lakshmamma, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan APO Pankaj Kumar, owners and staff of private schools participated in the meeting.
