Glam hip-hop artist to perform in Perth for the first time

Saweetie will grace Australia with her icy queen presence in two weeks, kicking off her debut tour in Perth with a one-night-only show. The 32-year-old US rapper, real name Diamonte Harper, is preparing to travel to the other side of the globe for her first Perth show on June 30 at Metros in Northbridge. She will also bring her signature style, viral hits and superstar energy to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for shows during the first week of August. Fans can expect a stacked setlist featuring hit songs and fierce choreography. The Aussie tour comes as the My Type singer is set to drop new single Boffum on Friday — her first solo song for the year. Produced by hitmaker J. White Did It, the track features bold energy, clever wordplay, and a nod to Young Buck's early 2000s classic, Shorty Wanna Ride. In the visual teaser shared on social media, Saweetie struts in a white bikini and fur boots, confidently delivering lyrics that double down on her 'why choose when you can have both' mentality. Sean Young added: 'I have actual chills.' Known for transforming iconic tracks into modern hits, Saweetie has become known for putting her original spin on classic songs, like she did with My Type and Tap In. Perhaps there is more Saweetie magic on the way after she told Call Her Daddy earlier this year that her debut project will land in 2025. 'I feel like I finally know myself,' she said. 'I felt like I was constantly in this weird transition phase… like, 'What am I even talking about?'' Saweetie rose to fame in 2017 after she began posting videos online of herself freestyling old-school rap beats in her car. After her freestyle over Khia's 2002 hit My Neck, My Back (Lick It) went viral, her persona 'ICY GRL' was born. She released a studio version with an official music video in October 2017 which has since amassed more than 20 million views. Tickets to her Perth show are still available for $89.90 and can be purchased here.

National Gree Tribunal orders closure of polluting casting yards and ready-mix cement plants inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park's eco sensitive zone at Ghodbunder Road in Thane

Navi Mumbai: The 's (NGT) western zone bench has ordered the closure of two casting yards and ready-mix cement (RMC) plants operating within the eco-sensitive zone of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) at Thane's Ghodbunder Road. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now NGO Vanashakti had filed the petition in NGT on the ground that this eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) was being destroyed due to the casting yards and RMC plants of J Kumar firm, which supplies reinforced concrete, girders and other heavy-duty infra works for projects, such as the tunnelling of Metros. A representative of SGNP, which is one of the respondents, was present in the tribunal when the order was given. Environmentalist D Stalin of Vanashakti said: "We welcome the NGT is sad how various state departments and agencies did nothing while the forest was being damaged by J Kumar's RMC plants and casting yards." When asked if the order will be a setback for any Metro projects, Stalin said: "There will not be any slowdown in infra projects because the firm can easily access land at Mogarpada in Thane. Also, the ESZ notification came in 2016, so all govt departments were aware that such a polluting industry cannot operate inside a green zone." "At the Ghodbunder site of the casting yard, a board has been installed that this is adivasi land taken on rent. Can a tribal land be actually leased for a polluting industry inside an ESZ?" asked Stalin. "Every department which is a part of the ESZ monitoring committee failed to take steps to stop the degradation of the forests and to stop the pollution. We were forced to file a petition after repeated requests failed."

Mexican police arrest suspect in killing of five band members

Police in Mexico have detained a man known by the alias of M-47, whom they suspect of ordering the murder of members of the band Grupo Fugitivo. The bodies of four musicians from the band and their manager were discovered on Thursday in Tamaulipas state, four days after the men had been reported missing. Their relatives had reported receiving ransom demands in the days after the men's disappearance. While kidnappings for ransom are not uncommon in violence-wracked Tamaulipas, the way band members were apparently lured to an abandoned lot by their kidnappers with the promise of a gig at a private party and then killed has shocked locals, who held rallies demanding their release. Police said they arrested M-47 during raids on three properties, in which they also seized drugs, weapons, cash and suspicious vehicles and detained two other suspects. Federal officials said they suspect M-47 of being one of the bosses of a gang known as "Metros", which forms part of the Gulf Cartel. The Gulf Cartel has its stronghold in Tamaulipas state and engages in the smuggling of drugs and migrants across the US-Mexico border, as well as kidnapping for ransom. It is not clear why the members of Grupo Fugitivo were targeted. The singer - who survived because he was late on the night - told local media that his band had been hired to perform at a private party and given an address. The singer said that when he made his own way to the location they had been given to meet up with his fellow musicians, he found the address to be a vacant lot and no sign of the band members or their SUV. The band's SUV was found abandoned three days later a few kilometres away. The trailer with their instruments and sound equipment was also found dumped at another nearby location. Investigators believe the five were taken by their captors to a property, where they were killed. Grupo Fugitivo were known for playing norteña music - a genre characterised by catchy lyrics often sung to a polka-inspired rhythm - which has been targeted by criminal gangs. Some bands rely on income early in their careers from being hired to play at private parties, many of which are hosted by people involved in or with connections to the cartels. They sometimes also compose songs praising drug lords and there have been instances in the past when singers of such songs, known as "corridos" have been threatened and even killed by rival gangs. In total, 12 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of the members of Grupo Fugitivo so far.
