Love Island's Ellie Brown reveals she's engaged to her boyfriend as she shows off sparkling engagement ring

LOVE Island star Ellie Brown has revealed she's engaged. The 27-year-old villa beauty announced her happy news on Instagram this afternoon. 5 She showed off her huge sparkling ring as well as loved-up snaps with her mystery fiancé as they celebrated on a yacht in the United States. Ellie wrote: "My most confident yes." Ellie, who starred in the 2018 series of the ITV2 reality show, went public with her man last January as they puckered up during a windswept outing to the seaside. Since her time on series four of Love Island, Ellie hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to romance. In the villa, she fell for London socialite Charlie Brake. The couple continued with their relationship on the outside, before he reportedly dumped her on Instagram while she was sat in the cinema with her pal Laura Anderson. Ellie went on to enjoy a relationship with fellow Love Island alumni Michael Griffiths, who starred in the 2019 series. The pair hit it off after they filmed Ex On The Beach together but their romance was rocky. Days after Michael said Ellie was The One, the couple split. They briefly rekindled their romance, but it wasn't to be and they broke up for good. Then, in 2021, Ellie found herself in the headlines thanks to a night out with England footballer Jack Grealish. The pair were seen chatting together at a party before hitting the clubs in Manchester. But it was all innocent, with Jack's childhood sweetheart Sasha Attwood confirming days later that they were still very much together. 5 5 5

Garden expert shares how to make effective weed killer at home with two ingredients

Gardening expert Michael Griffiths has shared his simple two-ingredient recipe using common kitchen items for an 'effective homemade weed killer' that he says 'actually works' Garden weeds have a knack for sprouting back swiftly at this time of year, despite our best attempts to banish them from our lawns and patios. With that in mind, a gardening expert has shared how you can whip up an effective weed killer yourself using two common ingredients you might already have in your kitchen. Michael Griffiths, who regularly imparts his horticultural knowledge on TikTok, assures this solution "actually works" well. "The first ingredient to use is distilled vinegar," he began in a video, explaining that it acts as a herbicide. The other item you'll need from your cupboards is bicarbonate of soda. Michael continued: "Don't add too much of it at once [to the vinegar] or it will fizz everywhere. Instead, add it slowly mixing it as you go." He reassured his followers this method will create a "more effective weed destroyer". Michael concluded: "Make sure it's all mixed together and add it to a spray bottle. Give the weed a good soaking and it will be finished before you know it." He also provided further details in his video's caption, explaining: "I used a 2:1 (2 parts vinegar, 1 part bicarbonate) solution. "Mix together until the solution is completely clear otherwise it will clog your spray bottle." In response to concerns about the ingredients of his mixture, Michael took to the comments section himself to clarify: "If you're going to say mixing the two neutralises itself (I know). "The outcome of a 1:1 mix would create a neutralised solution. Becoming sodium acetate, Co2 and water. I imagine a 2:1 mix means you're left with a distilled vinegar, sodium acetate and water mix. Sodium acetate has a much lower impact on soil than sodium chloride." He further explained: "It has a minimal impact on soil structure and degrades in the soil quickly. So what you have is a salty, acidic mixture that doesn't have long term effects on the soil as if you were using vinegar and sodium chloride (edible salt)." He also recommended: "Give the weed a really good soak. This is best used on young weeds." Reacting to this, one TikTok user shared their own technique: "I use vinegar and salt plus put in a splash of washing up liquid so the mixture sticks to the plants. It works wonders." Similarly, another person revealed: "I make my own weed killer - vinegar, a small squeeze of dish liquid, a small teaspoon of salt - give it a good shake, works a treat." You can also buy weed killer from supermarkets, garden centres or online stores such as Amazon, but this is a good natural alternative.

Ride out in memory of legendary Pontypool motorsport champ

Selwyn Griffiths, who sadly passed away in January at the age of 83, was a respected figure in the motorsport world. Popular in the local community, his passion for biking and motorsports was evident in his work at Pontypool-based garage Ray Cowles Motorcycles. A well-loved member of the Pontypool community at least at least 160 bikers were present during his funeral procession. To honour his legacy, a special ride out took place on 14 June 2025, starting in Pontypool and ending at Pembrey Circuit in Llanelli, where a corner of the track was officially named 'Selwyn's' in his memory. At the circuit, a raffle and silent auction offering motorsport-related prizes was held to boost donations even further — with all proceeds going directly to the Wales Air Ambulance Charity. A total of 85 participants attended. The event drew a strong turnout from riders and supporters alike. Michael told the Argus: 'We had a great turnout, managed to dodge the rain showers on the way and raised a tremendous amount for a good cause in memory of dad. 'He was always a great admirer and supporter of Pembrey Circuit and their staff, the home of Welsh Motorsport naming a corner in his honour is a great tribute by Circuit Manager Phil Davies and his team.' The section of track dedicated to Selwyn at Pembrey Circuit (Image: Michael Griffiths) Motorsport has always been an integral part of the Griffiths family legacy. Michael added: "I met my wife Kelly at the TT Races on the Isle of Man years ago, Motorcycle Road Racing has been a big part of my whole life thanks to dad. 'Myself, Kelly and our two daughters Siobhan and Alexia will do our best to keep dad and his achievements in business and racing remembered." Michael thanked all involved in the emotional event. He said: "Thank you to all who took part, helped, contributed and donated.'

Love Island star CONFIRMS romance with EastEnders actress with slew of loved up snaps following months of relationship rumours

Love Island Michael Griffiths has confirmed his romance with EastEnders actress Rukku Nahar following months of relationship rumours. The reality star, 33, who appeared on the ITV show back in 2019, shared a slew of loved up snaps with the stunner, 29, as they watched Oleksandr take on Daniel Dubois for the heavyweight boxing championship at Wembley Stadium. Michael and Rukku first set tongues wagging back in October when they attended the London premiere of Venom: The Last Dance together, but until now have not until gone Instagram official. The lovebirds could not keep their hands off each other as they packed on the PDA and shared a smooch while watching the big fight. In the caption Michael gushed over Rukku, who played Habiba Ahmed in the BBC soap until 2020, and said: 'Her first official fight night. And what a night it was, here's to many more adventures'. Michael was vilified by the Love Island viewers when he dumped fellow Amber Gill for Joanna Chimonides in dramatic scenes from his series. But in 2020 told MailOnline that he didn't hold any 'grudges' against his former flame after she went onto win the £50,000 cash prize. 'There's no point in me holding grudges and what happened in the past, happened in the past. If you hold onto it it's just going to upset you even more,' he said. Amber was mortified after Michael returned from Casa Amor with another woman – but the brutal dumping earned her the respect of the nation. Amber went on to become one of the most lucrative islanders from the 2019 series, following high-profile deals with the likes of Misspap and Littlewoods. Michael admits he has 'no regrets' from his time in the villa and he's happy to remain single for the foreseeable future. He said: 'I don't regret anything from that point of view. 'After Love Island, I found it difficult to date, right now the way I see it I just have to concentrate on myself and becoming the best version of myself I can be by concentrating on work and my career. After the show, Michael moved from his native Liverpool to Essex where he lived with former co-stars Jordan Hames, Chris Taylor and Danny Williams. The boys starred together in MTV's Living The Dream, a digital series filmed during the pandemic. In the caption Michael gushed over Rukku and said: 'Her first official fight night. And what a night it was, here's to many more adventures' Meanwhile the latest series has seen Harrison Solomon's treatment of Lauren Wood and Toni Laites condemned by viewers. But much to Harrison's dismay, Women's Aid also criticised his actions by releasing a damning statement claiming his behaviour 'reinforces a culture that excuses and trivialises violence against women and girls.' The Derby-born Islander had a relationship with US waitress Toni before embarking on a new romance with Lauren after meeting her in rival villa Casa Amor, with the couple becoming the first to have sex on the ITV2 show this series. But Harrison then sparked outrage by convincing Toni, who was unaware he had slept with Lauren, to rekindle, leaving the distraught influencer in floods of tears. Shortly after their bedroom antics were exposed, Lauren was dumped from the villa and followed out the door by Harrison, who was quickly informed of Women's Aid's criticism which left him dumbstruck. Breaking his silence in an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Harrison insisted the charity was wrong to call him out and claims the nature of the statement upset his family. He said: 'I have seen the backlash and it's hard to digest. I would disagree with a lot of it in terms of my respect for women, I do respect women. 'The worst has been from Women's Aid. I know myself and the girls on the show too, Toni said she knows I'm not a bad person, just went about situations in the wrong way, but the Women's Aid statement wasn't nice... it's not nice coming out of the villa to my mum upset by that so I would say that's been the hardest.' He added: 'To the women I have hurt, I am obviously sorry. 'I got it wrong and the back and forth between the two connections caused more harm than I ever intended. 'It wasn't ever an ego thing. I am not proud of how I handled things and I'm not going to make excuses. 'I just want to own it. If people can give me the space to grow from it, I will do everything I can to be better and that's the only thing I can do. 'There is no handbook for how to be on a show like Love Island. It's instincts and intentions. I got some of it right, but I know I got a lot of it wrong, and I know that now.' Harrison said the statement issued by Women's Aid, which commented on women being 'lied to, slut-shamed, and laughed at behind their backs' was particularly detrimental given the close relationship he shares with his mother and younger sister.
