Inside Malcolm-Jamal Warner's split from Regina King and death of longtime love following his shock passing
Malcolm-Jamal Warner has kept his personal life out of the spotlight in recent years, prior to his shock death at the age of 54. The Cosby Show alum died in Costa Rica on Sunday, after drowning while swimming off the coast, according to local authorities who spoke with ABC News. Before his passing, Warner navigated a life filled with both significant Hollywood achievements and profound personal heartbreaks. He previously had a very public relationship with actress Regina King, 54, whom he dated from 2011 to 2013. Their relationship came to an abrupt end when Warner reportedly blindsided King by ending their two-year partnership. He also suffered loss when his longtime love Michelle Thomas, known for her role as Justine Phillips on The Cosby Show, passed away from cancer four years after their split. In March, King took to Twitter to deny any relationship issues with Warner. 'Hey everybody PLEASE don't believe everything you read. Me & MalcolmJamalWar are good. Life happens. Forward motion. Godspeed,' she wrote. However, in 2015 she revealed that one of her famous exes broke up with her on Valentine's Day, while speaking with Us Weekly in 2015, hinting that it was Warner. 'Someone broke up with me on Valentine's. Yeah. I'm serious,' she said. 'Then he actually sent me flowers that said, "I still love you," and I threw the flowers in the trash, and he was upset that I threw them in the trash, and I was like, 'F*** you."' 'I love flowers, but he thought that was right. What an a**, right?' King suggested that Warner was the ex, hinting that fans would 'know' who she was referring to. Prior to their split, Warner called his romance with King 'very special.' 'We like to protect what we have because it's very special and very precious,' he told BET in October 2011, according to New York Daily News. Private schools in Dubai have confirmed their readiness to implement the decision allowing remote learning on Fridays throughout the holy month of Ramadan. They have also emphasised their flexibility in ensuring a smooth transition between in-person education for those who prefer it and distance learning, helping students balance academic performance and family commitments while honouring the spiritual essence of the month. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Michelle Thomas, Principal/CEO of GEMS Al Barsha National School, highlighted, 'Providing the option for remote learning on Fridays allows students to balance their academic commitments with spiritual and family time, fostering a more holistic learning experience,' she said. Thomas assured that the school fully supports this initiative, which reflects the leadership's commitment to student well-being and family unity during Ramadan. 'For families who prefer in-person learning, our school will remain open and fully operational, ensuring students continue to receive structured, high-quality education in a supportive environment,' she added. In a frenetic, increasingly inter-connected world, it can feel like there's no escape. Thankfully, more of us are recognising the symptoms and seeking help — and it's out there. A growing number of wellness centres are offering tailored burnout breaks; examples include a 28-day immersive programme at Clinic Les Alpes in Switzerland and a digital detox at The Burnout Recovery Journey at the Sanctuary Beach Resort in Monterey County, California. The latter targets tech-fatigue with a 'disconnect to reconnect' approach, alongside sleep hypnosis. Michelle Thomas, meanwhile, founded Portuguese retreat centre, Quinta Carvalhas.
