Projecting the rookie seasons for Alabama's 2025 NFL draft picks

This past spring, the Alabama Crimson Tide saw a total of seven players selected during the 2025 NFL draft, as well as a few others sign with professional teams in the days that followed as undrafted free agents. Since then, each of those players have participated in mini camps, and are now currently in training camp as we inch closer to the official start of the 2025 NFL season. Taking a deeper look at each name in particular, what potential role could each of Alabama's NFL rookies play during the 2025 season? Will some start from day one, or will each likely serve as depth options? Here is a current projection as to what each Alabama rookie's role is expected to be entering the 2025 NFL season. Jalen Milroe, Quarterback - Seattle Seahawks Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round, Milroe is currently projected to enter his rookie NFL season as a backup. In Seattle, veteran Sam Darnold is cemented as the starting quarterback, along with Drew Lock likely No. 2 on the depth chart, which means that Milroe is third-string at best entering the season, making just how much, if any, action he sees in 2025 a question mark. Robbie Ouzts, Tight End - Seattle Seahawks Ouzts is a teammate of Milroe previously, as the former Alabama tight end was selected by Seattle in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. The former Alabama tight end could find playing time very early this season with Seattle, as Ouzts could potentially be the Seahawks starting fullback as a rookie. CJ Dippre, Tight End - New England Patriots Dippre is the first Alabama rookie mentioned here who went undrafted this past spring, signing as a free agent with the New England Patriots. The former Alabama tight end is likely a depth option entering this season with the Patriots, and could potentially be a practice squad player. Tyler Booker, Offensive Guard - Dallas Cowboys Alabama's first player selected in the 2025 NFL draft, Booker, a first round pick, currently projects as a starter for the Dallas Cowboys along the offensive line in year one. As to what position that comes at, Booker will likely see time at either left or right guard. Tim Smith, Defensive Tackle - Indianapolis Colts Smith, selected in the sixth round by the Indianapolis Colts, is likely a depth option entering his first NFL season. As for how much time Smith could see, the former Alabama defensive tackle is likely a rotation option to begin the year. Que Robinson, Outside Linebacker - Denver Broncos Robinson was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft, taken by the Denver Broncos. Entering year one with Denver, Robinson likely projects as a depth, or rotation, option at outside linebacker this season who should be used primarily in pass rushing situations. Jihaad Campbell, Inside Linebacker - Philadelphia Eagles Campbell was the second of those two aforementioned Alabama first round picks, landing with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles at pick No. 31 overall. Sitting behind the likes of Nakobe Dean and Zach Baun on the depth chart, Campbell might not necessarily begin the season as a starter, but will undoubtedly play significant snaps this year as a rookie. Malachi Moore, Safety - New York Jets Moore was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft, landing with the New York Jets. The former Alabama safety might not start for New York this season, but will still likely see action as a backup, while also a special teams option. James Burnip, Punter - New Orleans Saints Concluding with Burnip, the former Alabama went undrafted this past spring, signing as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints. Burnip will compete for the Saints starting job in training camp. Contact/Follow us @RollTideWire on X, and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Alabama news, notes and opinion.

Looking back, Sam Darnold has still earned the Seahawks an 'A' grade in free agency

The Seattle Seahawks shook up their quarterback room in March. They signed Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract days after trading Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. The move drew positive reviews initially. It looks even better now. Darnold's contract isn't fully guaranteed, and the Seahawks can cut him with a post-June 1 designation next year that would save them $27.5 million. If they're comfortable with rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe's development, this contract could be perfect for Seattle, says Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. The deal looks even better now. Signing Darnold, who could start for another decade or more, was a low-risk, high-reward move. Seattle then got itself a developmental Plan B when it drafted Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in Round 3. Milroe may be on the unpolished side but has the ceiling of an elite dual-threat quarterback in the mold of Lamar Jackson—who head coach Mike Macdonald saw plenty of as the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator. If Darnold maintains his Pro Bowl form in Seattle, great. At worst, he'll give the Seahawks time to develop and evaluate Milroe while examining options in future draft classes. Knox gave the signing an "A", an upgrade from his colleague Gary Davenport, who gave the signing an "A-" initially after the signing. It feels like another fair deal for Darnold. If he outperforms expectations, he could set himself up for an extension from the Seahawks or earn an even bigger payday from another team if Seattle wants to move on to Milroe. Darnold is still only 28, and he possesses all the physical attributes needed in an NFL quarterback.

Seahawks could target Pittsburgh QB Eli Holstein in 2026 NFL Draft amid uncertainty around Sam Darnold and Jalen Milroe

Eli Holstein could be Seattle's next QB target in 2026 (Image via: Getty Images) The Seattle Seahawks completely revamped their quarterback room in 2025, parting ways with veteran Geno Smith. In his place, they signed Sam Darnold to a three-year deal, drafted former Alabama standout Jalen Milroe in the third round, and also brought back Drew Lock via free agency, indicating a full reset at the most important position. Why Eli Holstein could be on Seattle's Radar in 2026 Despite the current trio, speculation about the Seahawks drafting another quarterback in 2026 is gaining traction. According to Pro Football Network's Max Dorsey, Seattle may use a third-round pick on Pittsburgh's Eli Holstein, a promising but unproven signal-caller who transferred from Alabama in 2024. Holstein, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback, put up decent numbers in his first season with Pittsburgh—throwing for 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 61.9% of his passes. He also showcased some mobility with three rushing scores. Though not yet a top-tier prospect, Holstein's size, arm strength, and ability to play within the pocket make him an intriguing Day 2 option for the 2026 NFL Draft. "Being Compared To Dan Marino..." Pitt Freshman QB Eli Holstein Is On Pace For A HISTORIC Season 👀 The Seahawks are clearly building a quarterback pipeline. Darnold is the present, but not necessarily the long-term answer. Milroe, while physically gifted, remains raw and inconsistent. If he flashes potential in his rookie season but fails to fully lock down the job, Seattle could find themselves looking for another developmental option next April. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 해외 대란 "특허성분" 바르자마자 주름/기미 안보인다!? 콜라겐 300배 "이것" 피부 재생 특허원료 Undo Holstein fits that mold—young, coachable, and with upside to eventually challenge for the starting role. Selecting another quarterback just a year after drafting Milroe could raise eyebrows. Teams typically give rookie quarterbacks more than one season to prove themselves, especially those taken in the top three rounds. If Milroe shows real growth, it's unlikely Seattle burns another Day 2 pick at the same position. Seattle has shown a willingness to stack talent at quarterback. With the NFL's increasing reliance on depth at the position and uncertainty around Darnold's long-term value, keeping options open makes strategic sense. Alabama Football: 2025 Crimson Tide Season Preview and Prediction

Alabama Football: 2025 Crimson Tide Season Preview and Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Alabama fans were willing to cut coach Kalen DeBoer some slack for a 9-4 debut season after he navigated a transition from Nick Saban that shocked players and sent some key pieces to the transfer portal. But there is only so much patience in Tuscaloosa, where winning national championships is the standard. There is greater comfort and stability around Alabama in 2025, but expectations have risen accordingly. That's the question for Alabama as it transitions away from Jalen Milroe at quarterback after two seasons. Milroe's electric running ability, especially in the red zone, was a staple of the Tide's offense the past two seasons. But the passing game was inconsistent and a far cry from what Bryce Young, Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa had produced in previous seasons. Advertisement Head coach Kalen DeBoer spent the spring evaluating his three options to replace Milroe — fourth-year junior Ty Simpson, third-year sophomore Austin Mack and 5-star freshman Keelon Russell — and said he wanted a 'playmaker' and not just a game manager. DeBoer is also reunited with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who called plays for a Washington attack that produced some of the nation's top passing numbers behind Michael Penix Jr. If Alabama can find a more capable passer to replace Milroe, it has one of the most talented receiver rooms in the country — led by superstar Ryan Williams — to catch those passes. That gives second-year coordinator Kane Wommack a solid base to build upon with a group that improved as the 2024 season progressed. Alabama's defense struggled in a loss to Vanderbilt last season, but it was hard to blame that side of the ball for losses against Tennessee, Oklahoma or Michigan. Replacing James Burnip, who became one of the nation's best punters, will be the biggest challenge, and the Tide plucked Colorado School of Mines punter Blake Doud from Division II as one option. Conor Talty, one of the nation's top high school kickers two years ago, will get his chance for Alabama after sitting behind Will Reichard and then Graham Nicholson the past two seasons.
