Sheikha Asma Al Thani summits Gasherbrum I, her tenth 8,000er peak
Sheikha Asma Al Thani announced the success of her latest summit, Gasherbrum I, located between Pakistan and China. Also known as Hidden Peak, Gasherbrum I stands at 8,080 meters above sea level and is the 11th-highest mountain in the world, making this her tenth summit over 8,000 meters. MoSY, QDA sign pact to promote health awareness among youth
QNA Doha The Ministry of Sports and Youth (MoSY) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Doctors Association to promote health awareness among young people. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties in implementing educational programmes and initiatives in the areas of mental health, proper nutrition, physical activity, and community health, contributing to building a health-conscious generation capable of effectively contributing to national development. Under the MoU, awareness workshops and seminars will be organised, educational content will be developed for youth, and youth initiatives in the health sector will be supported, in line with Qatar's National Youth Policy. This partnership between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Qatar Doctors Association reflects both sides' commitment to promoting public health among young people and providing a supportive environment that enables them to make informed health decisions, contributing to building a healthier and more sustainable society. In his remarks on the occasion, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri indicated that the signing of the MoU comes as part of the ministry's efforts to open up to all youth energies in various fields, particularly in the health sector, which is a fundamental pillar in building an informed and productive youth society. He said that the ministry believes that empowering youth health-wise is a direct investment in the nation's future, and reflects its commitment to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and the ministry's strategic objectives through qualitative partnerships with civil society organisations such as the Qatar Doctors Association. He added that such partnerships represent a significant value in achieving the ministry's strategic objectives and reflect its openness to the nation's youthful potential across various fields. They also diversify activities and events, contributing to attracting the largest possible number of young people and engaging them in quality programmes that enhance their role in national development and achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. For its part, the Qatar Doctors Association commended this national initiative, which comes within the framework of enhancing integration between the health and youth sectors, contributing to the development of a health-conscious generation capable of adopting healthy and sustainable lifestyles. Chairperson of Qatar Doctors Association Dr. Mishal Al Musaifri affirmed the association's commitment to harnessing its expertise and medical staff to support such initiatives, by providing scientific educational content and organising quality awareness programmes in line with the highest professional and knowledge standards. Summer innovation camp for entrepreneurs kicks off
Tribune News Network Doha The 2025 Summer Innovation Camp officially kicked off on Sunday, July 20, 2025. The camp is organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Club under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in collaboration with Qatar Chamber, with support from the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and hosted by Qatar University, with Snoonu as the innovation partner. The camp will run until August 12, featuring a variety of workshops and activities focused on startups, in addition to career exploration sessions targeting high school and university students. The camp's activities are held across multiple locations, including the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) and Qatar University. It aims to develop entrepreneurial and innovative thinking among youth, provide an interactive and educational environment for shaping ideas and entrepreneurial projects, enhance leadership and teamwork skills, and promote effective communication and critical thinking. It also offers valuable networking opportunities with entrepreneurs and industryprofessionals. Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri, director of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said: 'At the Ministry of Sports and Youth, we place great importance on empowering young people and enhancing their skills. The organisation of the 2025 Summer Innovation Camp falls within the Ministry's strategic plan to build a creative and entrepreneurial generation capable of actively contributing to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and implementing the National Youth Policy. 'This camp is part of the ministry's broader summer camp programme, implemented across all affiliated youth centers and institutions, aimed at providing interactive learning environments that strengthen youth capabilities and support their future aspirations. The Summer Innovation Camp embodies this vision by creating a supportive environment that encourages creativity, entrepreneurship, and teamwork, while offering real opportunities for learning and connecting with experts and business leaders.' Acting General Manager of Qatar Chamber Ali Boushrebak Al Mansouri affirmed the chamber's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and empowering Qatari youth. He emphasised that the chamber's support for this camp stems from its firm belief in the importance of developing the capabilities of the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators. 'This camp represents a comprehensive national platform that combines practical knowledge with real-world experience, helping to build an entrepreneurial mindset among school and university students in Qatar,' he said. He added that Qatar Chamber's support for entrepreneurship activities is a natural extension of its role in enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country and building strategic partnerships with various national entities to support youth-led projects and advance economic diversification in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Hala Ali Al Misnad, senior manager of SME Development Services at Qatar Development Bank, stated: 'The Innovation Summer Camp 2025, organised in collaboration with the Young Entrepreneurs Club, is part of QDB'S efforts to promote innovation among youth and build a new generation of innovators from among schools and universities students. MoEHE launches student activity centers for summer 2025
Doha The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) on Sunday launched the Student Activity Centers for Summer 2025. The activities, which will continue until August 7, target Qatari and resident public schools students, as well as Qatari students in private schools, aged 6 to 18. The centers will be located in eight summer centers across the country, four for boys and four for girls. The ministry said that the launch of these centers comes within the framework of its commitment to investing students' free time during the summer vacation in quality and integrated activities that contribute to developing their personalities, honing their skills, and promoting the values of citizenship and responsibility within a safe and attractive educational environment that meets their psychological, social, and educational needs. MoEHE noted that the summer programme will run from Sunday to Thursday, with daily sessions held from 9 am to 1 pm. The programme features a diverse array of educational, cultural, artistic, sports, and technical activities, all designed within a comprehensive framework that fosters creativity, encourages innovation, and enhances leadership and life skills. It also aims to strengthen national identity, support mental and physical well-being, and cultivate a culture of sustainable learning and continuous self-development. The ministry has designed the programme's themes to cover modern and diverse fields, including: value education, cultural activities, digital solutions, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, arts and design, as well as themes of public health, sustainability, and the environment, to meet the aspirations of generations and enrich their summer experience. The programme's activities are organised in cooperation with several supporting entities, including ministries, national institutions, and educational and cultural centers. These include the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Qatar National Library, Qatar Museums, Aspire Academy, Qatar Scientific Club, Dar Katateeb, and the Qatar Red Crescent. The summer centers were carefully selected to ensure comprehensive geographic coverage. The boys' centers include: Omar bin Al Khattab Secondary School, Khalifa Secondary School, Al Wakra Secondary School, and Abdullah bin Ali Al Misnad Preparatory School. The girls' centers include: Umm Salama Primary School, Amna bint Wahab Secondary School, Sawda bint Zamaa Preparatory School, and Al Khor Preparatory School. This year's programme features specialised activities and initiatives, including cybersecurity and facility security awareness, religious lectures to promote Islamic values, public speaking, leadership, and volunteering programs, and workshops in the arts, science, and technology. The programme also includes the launch of the "School Innovation Incubators" initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Qatar Scientific Club. This initiative provides an interactive learning environment equipped with advanced technologies, enabling students to transform their ideas into real-life projects, while offering specialized training in robotics, 3D printing, and entrepreneurship. The programme includes field visits to several national institutions and cultural landmarks, including the Qatar National Museum, the Qatar Media Corporation, the Equestrian Club, and the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, with the aim of enhancing practical and applied learning and connecting learning to reality. The programme concludes with a celebratory day at Lusail Hall, featuring an exhibition of student activities, the final matches of the football league, and a ceremony honoring the participants in the presence of senior officials and representatives of supporting entities. A visual presentation documenting the educational impact of the program is also featured. In a statement on this occasion, Aisha Al Kaabi, Head of Programmes and Activities at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, emphasised that the summer programme aims to provide quality activities that meet students' aspirations and contribute to developing their skills and discovering their talents within an integrated educational and recreational environment. She stated that the centers offer programmes that focus on creativity and innovation, personal and social development, leadership and volunteer skills, along with training workshops in literature, arts, technology, sports, and health. They also include religious activities that promote positive values and behaviors, as well as weekly educational and recreational trips. She added that through these centers, the Ministry seeks to provide an integrated educational experience that contributes to building students' personalities, developing their capabilities in various aspects, and instilling the values of citizenship and excellence in serving the nation. The ministry called on parents to register their children through the "Maaref" portal for public services to take advantage of this unique opportunity, affirming its commitment to providing a safe and inspiring environment that enables students to discover their potential and direct them toward excellence and creativity. These efforts are part of the Ministry's strategy to build an integrated educational system that supports the comprehensive development of students and contributes to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 by strengthening human capital and empowering generations to face future challenges with confidence and competence.
