Bayern Munich rejected again! Brighton star the latest to snub Vincent Kompany's side after Nico Williams and Florian Wirtz

Bayern rejected again by a key transfer target Mitoma set to stay at Brighton Japanese winger not interested in joining Die Roten WHAT HAPPENED? Bayern have been rejected again, this time by Brighton winger Mitoma, who Bild reports had no interest in making the switch to Bavaria, instead opting to stay in England and sign a new contract with the Seagulls. Advertisement THE BIGGER PICTURE THE BIGGER PICTURE This marks another blow to Bayern's summer plans, after previously being turned down by Nico Williams, Florian Wirtz, and Luis Diaz. Mitoma was seen as one of the last top-tier winger options left on Die Roten's shortlist. The Japanese winger scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 36 league games last season, and has been a standout performer for the Seagulls. The club previously rejected offers from Saudi Arabia and his value continues to rise under Fabian Hurzeler. WHAT FABIAN HURZELER SAID Brighton's head coach Hurzeler made it clear in an interview with Sky Sports: 'I'm really looking forward to seeing him again on Thursday for preseason training. That's the plan.' Advertisement He added: 'We look forward to continuing to work with him and trying to improve him, because I still think he hasn't reached his limit yet.' WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN? WHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN? Mitoma looks set to extend his Brighton contract as one of the club's cornerstone players. For Bayern, the search for a top winger continues to drag on. With multiple high-profile rejections, the club may have to rethink its transfer priorities or widen its scouting net heading into the latter half of the window.

Brighton star reacts to Bayern Munich transfer interest

Brighton Determined to Tie Down Mitoma Amid Outside Interest Mitoma signals Brighton commitment Kaoru Mitoma has expressed his desire to remain at Brighton & Hove Albion, with the Japan international keen to extend his current contract. Despite two years left on his existing deal, both club and player are looking to move forward with discussions on improved terms. According to Sky Sports, Mitoma wants to continue under new head coach Fabian Hürzeler. Photo: IMAGO Advertisement The Seagulls have made it clear they value Mitoma highly and are eager to reward his impact since joining the club from Kawasaki Frontale. His electric performances down the left flank have caught the attention of major clubs, including Bayern Munich, while Saudi side Al Nassr failed with offers during the January window. Bayern and Saudi clubs monitoring situation Mitoma's name has surfaced as one of Bayern's targets for the left-wing position. That level of attention is hardly surprising after a standout campaign in the Premier League, where his mix of acceleration, composure and tactical awareness elevated Brighton's attacking play. Photo: IMAGO Advertisement Still, Brighton's resistance to selling remains firm. 'We try to keep our best players,' said manager Fabian Hürzeler. 'Mitoma played a great last season but it's only because we as a club worked together. Then you can shine as individuals.' Hürzeler focused on growth The club believe Mitoma's development is still far from complete. Hürzeler added, 'I still think his limit is not reached yet. That's our job, his job, the job of the whole club to get the best potential out of the players.' Photo: IMAGO With pre-season on the horizon, Brighton are determined to keep one of their most dynamic attackers within their evolving project. Our View – EPL Index Analysis For Brighton fans, this is welcome news and reassurance at a time when top players at Premier League clubs are frequently lured away by richer suitors. Mitoma's willingness to commit to the club, despite interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia, reflects a player who clearly values development, purpose and environment over money and glamour. Advertisement There is a growing belief at the Amex that this squad can push on under Hürzeler. Mitoma remaining at the core of that ambition makes sense. He is a player whose talents are still unfolding and who fits the Brighton ethos, high work rate, tactical intelligence and team-first mentality. Supporters will rightly feel proud that Brighton have resisted the temptation to sell quickly. It signals a level of ambition that aligns with long-term growth rather than short-term gain. Mitoma committing to a new deal would not just be about keeping a key player, it would symbolise the club's shift from being a stepping stone to being a destination.

Albion have no need to rush over Mitoma deal - as stars return to work

Albion are heading back to work – with the focus still on their Japanese winger. Fitness testing starts tomorrow, 40 days on from the 4-1 win at Tottenham which completed the 2024-25 season. That process continues on Saturday with pre-season training under way from Sunday. Advertisement Players who have been away on international duty can report back a little later. They include Under-21s Euros winner Jack Hinshelwood, who was back at the Amex yesterday as the club opened their enlarged shop and launched their new kits. With Joao Pedro's move to Chelsea now complete, transfer focus has switched to Kaoru Mitoma and Albion are reported by Sky Sports to be keen to offer him a new contract. It is unclear whether there are any such plans but Mitoma signed his current contract less than two years ago. That deal, signed in October 2023 and valid until June 2027, is likely to be financially attractive and take into account the part he played in a sixth-place finish and European qualification. Advertisement There is no suggestion of any current offers for his services - while hints at Bayern Munich interest have been played down - and Mitoma is known to enjoy his football with the Seagulls. Fabian Hurzeler gives verdict as Joao Pedro signs for Chelsea Hurzeler has faith - so how do Albion look in attack after Joao Pedro's £60m move? Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler was non-committal over suggestions of a new contract but convinced Mitoma can play a big part in the coming season for the Seagulls. Hurzeler said: 'I am really looking forward to seeing hm back and that is the plan. 'We are looking forward to continuing to work with him to try to improve him. 'I still think his limit is not reached yet.'

Kaoru Mitoma makes decision on future amid Arsenal transfer interest

Kaoru Mitoma has informed Brighton bosses that he has no intention of leaving the club this summer, according to reports. The 28-year-old winger enjoyed his best-ever season in the Premier League as he racked up ten goals and four assists to help Brighton to an eighth-placed finish last term. But Mitoma's eye-catching performances are understood to have caught the attention of a number of top teams around Europe and there has been some speculation that the forward could soon be on the move. Bayern Munich have been credited with a strong interest, with the Bundesliga champions scouring the market for a left-sided attacker to replace Leroy Sane, who joined Galatasaray last month. Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, meanwhile, saw multiple offers knocked back by Brighton for Mitoma in the January transfer window. There have also been rumours that Arsenal could launch a bid to prise Mitoma away from the Amex Stadium, with Mikel Arteta keen to bring in added support and competition for Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank. Earlier this summer, Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg reported that Mitoma had been identified by Arsenal's sporting director, Andrea Berta, as a potential alternative to the Real Madrid's Rodrygo – the Gunners' 'dream' signing. But according to a new report from Sky Sports, Mitoma has moved to reassure Brighton's hierarchy he remains fully committed to Fabian Hurzeler's project – and the Japan international is keen to pen to paper on a new contract. It's claimed the Seagulls plan to meet with Mitoma to talk over 'improved terms and an extension' in due course. Mitoma's current deal on the south coast is due to expire in June 2027. Speaking to Sky Sports, Brighton head coach Hurzeler said he was 'really looking forward' to meeting up with Mitoma again for pre-season training this week. 'Of course, we try to keep our best players and I think Mitoma played great last season,' the German said. 'But it's only because we as a club work together and then you can shine as individuals. 'I think that's most important, that all the players try to understand that and Mitoma understood it last season. 'I'm really looking forward to seeing him back tomorrow and that's the plan.' More Trending Hurzeler has no doubts that Mitoma will continue to play an 'important' role going forward for the Seagulls. 'We're looking forward to working with him, continue working with him, trying to improve him, because I still think his limit is not reached yet,' he added. 'That's our job, his job, it's the job of everyone in the club to get the best potential out of the players and that's what we're looking for in pre-season. 'I'm sure he will be an important part for us.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
