Drinkwitz, Harper on ‘Zou to You tour
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Lets talk Mizzou Tiger athletics. The annual 'Zou to you tour swung through Springfield Thursday afternoon. Football coach Eli Drinkwitz, assistant basketball coach Dicky Nutt and new women's basketball coach Kellie Harper met with Mizzou fans at lunch time. It was Harper's first trip to Springfield since she got the Mizzou job back in mid-March. She was the Lady Bears coach for six seasons and led Missouri State to two NCAA tournaments. Eli Drinkwitz' football team was 10-3 last season and won the Music City Bowl. Both coaches say it's important to get out in the Show-Me State and meet the fans. 'We're appreciative of the fans. They drive on Saturdays from a long way away to come watch us play. For us to be able to make that trip easy for them to come to celebrate their passion is exciting,' said Drinkwitz. 'It's always good to touch base with your fan base. They need to hear you. They need to see you. We do not take for granted. When they're in the stands it matters and it makes a difference. It does and we don't take that for granted. This is our way of getting out and saying hello to our fans,' said Harper. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Former Mizzou Tiger Marcus Denmon arrested in KC for armed robbery charge in Tulsa
A former University of Missouri basketball player and his brother were arrested in Kansas City in connection with an armed robbery charge in Tulsa, Oklahoma, according to court records. Marcus Denmon, 34, and Malik Denmon, 29, are charged in Tulsa County District Court with robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to online court records. The two men were arrested in Kansas City Thursday, court records show, and an extradition was ordered in Jackson County Circuit Court Thursday for the men to be in Oklahoma to face charges. Marcus Denmon played basketball for four years as a Mizzou Tiger. A Kansas City native, he graduated from Hogan Preparatory Academy. He earned first team All-Big 12 honors in 2011 and went on to be drafted 59th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2012 NBA Draft. The armed robbery charge stems from an incident on Jan. 17 when police were called to an 'ambush' at an apartment complex in Tulsa. According to court records, the victim said she was preparing to travel to a friend's bachelorette party in Kansas City when two men with weapons took around $16,000 in cash and other belongings from her. Police determined through surveillance footage that a white Chevrolet Malibu that left the apartments in Tulsa was rented by Marcus Denmon from a car rental business in Platte City, Missouri, court records said. The car was seen with its tinted windows while in Oklahoma but was returned without tint to the Platte City rental business, according to court records. Investigators discovered a series of suspicious deposits made at ATMs in Kansas City the last two weeks of January. Prosecutors charged Marcus Denmon and Malik Denmon in connection to the robbery on Feb. 28 in Tulsa County District Court. Their bonds were set by an Oklahoma judge at $50,000 each.
