Centre under PM Modi spent Rs 2L cr in 11 yrs on TG farm sector: BJP

Hyderabad: BJP State Spokesperson Rani Rudrama stated that the NDA government at the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has invested approximately Rs 2 lakh crore into the agriculture sector in Telangana. Addressing the media on Friday, she said that neither the current Congress government in Telangana nor the previous BRS government can develop agriculture with the same clarity and direction demonstrated by the Modi-led government at the national level. From 2014 to 2025, the NDA government has allocated lakhs of crores of rupees to the agriculture sector in Telangana. Notably, Rs 57,556 crore was spent on cotton purchases alone. In 2014, the expenditure on cotton was Rs 3,404 crore, while for the 2023-24 season, Rs 20,998 crore has been budgeted for a single season. During this period, the Centre has invested Rs 57,556 crore in cotton purchases, while the Cotton Corporation of India has bought cotton worth Rs 58,000 crore from farmers in Telangana to date. Rudrama pointed out that when the Congress government came to power, it promised a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for 14 crops. However, the bonus was only announced for three crops and distributed to only half of the farmers, leaving the rest without any compensation. Even after declaring that the bonus would be provided to only half of the farmers, the process remains incomplete, which she described as a fraud committed by the Congress party.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi places Constitution above all: Gujarat chief minister

Ahmedabad: Speaking at an event to mark 50 years since the Emergency was imposed in the country, chief minister Bhupendra Patel termed the Emergency as a "blemished event" in the country's history. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed the Constitution above everything else in the country's interest. A programme was organised in Gandhinagar to mark 'Samvidhan Hatya Divas' on Wednesday. Speaking at the event, Patel recalled that the values of the Constitution were undermined and emphasised the need for current and future generations to be aware of this blot and to uphold the honour and dignity of the Constitution. The CM said that during his tenure as chief minister, Narendra Modi honoured the Constitution on the occasion of its 60th anniversary by placing it on an elephant's back during the 'Constitution Pride Yatra'. Kharge says country facing

New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using the 50th anniversary of the Emergency to divert public attention from issues like unemployment, inflation and demonetisation. Kharge said the Modi-led government was trying to cover up its 'failures and repeated lies' by marking the day as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' and focusing on a chapter of history that had ended decades ago. Addressing a press conference, Kharge said, 'We are facing an undeclared emergency in the country today... The BJP got rattled by our 'Samvidhan Bachao Yatra' and started talking about 50 years of Emergency. Those who could not do much during their tenure, also could not give any answers on issues of unemployment, inflation and demonetisation, are doing this (marking 50 years of imposition of Emergency as Samvidhan Hatya Diwas) to hide their failures and repeated lies.' He criticised the Prime Minister for instructing states to officially observe the Emergency anniversary. 'The PM on behalf of the government has taken out a circular directing all states to mark the 50 years of Emergency as Samvidhan Hatya Diwas,' Kharge said. He also questioned the BJP's commitment to the Constitution, accusing the party of having had no role in India's independence movement or the drafting of the Constitution. 'I only want to say that those who are talking about saving the Constitution now are only trying to raise the issue that had ended in the past. Those who did not have any role in the Indian independence movement and the making of the Constitution are talking about it now. They had even burnt images of Gandhi ji, Ambedkar ji and others,' he further alleged. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised the Emergency, describing it as an 'era of injustice' driven by the Congress party's 'hunger for power'. He said the Modi government had declared June 25 as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' to ensure future generations understand the dangers of dictatorship. In a post on X, Shah said, 'The 'Emergency' was an 'era of injustice' driven by Congress's hunger for power. The Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975, caused immense pain and suffering to the people of the nation. To ensure that the new generation understands this, the Modi government has named this day Samvidhan Hatya Diwas. This day reminds us that when power turns into dictatorship, the people have the strength to uproot it.' He further added, 'The Emergency was not a national necessity but a reflection of the anti-democratic mindset of Congress and one individual. The freedom of the press was crushed, the judiciary's hands were tied, and social activists were thrown into jail. The people of the nation raised the battle cry of 'Vacate the Throne' and overthrew the dictatorial Congress. Heartfelt tributes to all the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in this struggle.' Earlier in the day, the Union Cabinet observed a two-minute silence in memory of those who lost their constitutionally guaranteed rights and endured 'unimaginable horrors' during the Emergency. The Cabinet passed a resolution paying tribute to their 'exemplary courage and valiant resistance'. Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the resolution was passed to mark 50 years since the Proclamation of Emergency. The resolution read, 'The year 2025 marks 50 years of the Samvidhan Hatya Diwas - an unforgettable chapter in the history of India where the Constitution was subverted, the Republic and democratic spirit of India was attacked, federalism was undermined, and fundamental rights, human liberty and dignity were suspended.' It further said the Emergency was an attempt at 'subversion of the spirit of the Indian Constitution' that began in 1974 with efforts to suppress popular movements like the Navnirman Andolan and Sampoorna Kranti Abhiyan. 'It is as important for the young as it is for the old to draw inspiration from those who resisted dictatorial tendencies and stood firm to defend our Constitution and its democratic fabric,' the resolution said. Reiterating India's commitment to democracy, it added, 'India, as the Mother of Democracy, stands as an example of preserving, protecting and safeguarding constitutional values. Let us, as a Nation, renew our resolve to uphold our Constitution and its democratic and federal spirit.' The Emergency, declared by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975, lasted for 21 months and is remembered for widespread curbs on civil liberties, press censorship, and mass arrests of political opponents. The BJP continues to mark the day each year as a reminder of what it calls an assault on democracy. (ANI)

‘Undeclared Emergency@11': Congress hits back with ‘five-fold assault' charge against BJP

In a counter-attack, the Congress, taking a jibe at the Modi-led government Wednesday, alleged that over the past 11 years (since 2014) — the Indian democracy has been under 'systematic and dangerous' five-fold assault over the past 11 years (since 2014) — a period it described as an 'Undeclared Emergency@11'. This comes after the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) went all-out on the grand old party (Congress) on the 50th anniversary of the imposition of the Emergency by the then Indira Gandhi-led government. 'No Indian will ever forget the manner in which the spirit of the Constitution was violated during the Emergency,' Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X. In a statement, Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh alleged that the Modi government is 'weakening Parliament' and has consistently shredded parliamentary norms. The MPs, who have raised mere issues of public concern, have been arbitrarily suspended. 'Key legislations are bulldozed through. Parliamentary committees have been by-passed,' he added. Congress leader further accused the government of spreading 'unbridled hate speech' and 'a crackdown on civil liberties'. Our statement on the five-fold assault on Indian Democracy that has led to the Undeclared Emergency@11 — Jairam Ramesh (@Jairam_Ramesh) June 25, 2025 During these 11 years, the ruling establishment protesting farmers were labelled 'Khalistanis', and advocates of caste census were dismissed as 'urban Naxals', the statement said. 'The killers of Mahatma Gandhi are glorified. Minorities live in fear of their lives and property. Dalits and other marginalised groups have been disproportionately targeted, and ministers making hate speeches have been rewarded with promotions,' he claimed. Ramesh's remarks came as the government observed 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' to mark the Emergency anniversary. He also accused the BJP of using money power to topple Opposition-led state governments. 'The office of the Governor has been misused to block bills in opposition-ruled states and to interfere in university appointments. The Centre has bypassed constitutional fiscal arrangements by overusing cesses to deprive states of their rightful revenue share,' he said. In another series of attacks, the Congress general secretary claimed the 'Election Commission of India's integrity has been compromised severely.' He said, 'Poll timings and phases are tailored to benefit the ruling party. The Commission has remained silent in the face of divisive rhetoric from the Prime Minister and senior BJP leaders,' he alleged.' Ramesh also accused the BJP-led government of 'damaging the judiciary' and said there has been a definite policy of quiet threats to the judiciary, primarily through delayed elevations, punitive transfers, post-retirement sinecures for pliant judges, and selective implementation of collegium recommendations. He added that investigative agencies — including the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department — have been 'rampantly misused' to harass and defame Opposition leaders. 'Those who switch parties and join the BJP automatically become ED-mukt and CBI-mukt,' he alleged.
