Admin assistant claims trial to insulting modesty of female intern
KUALA LUMPUR: A 37-year-old administrative assistant at a government department pleaded not guilty in the Magistrates' Court here Friday (July 25) to a charge of insulting the modesty of a female student undergoing industrial training, three months ago.
Mohamad Aznee Osman was charged with committing the offence against the 23-year-old victim at a government office here at 1.58pm on April 4.
The charge was framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan allowed Mohamad Aznee bail of RM2,500 in one surety and required him to avoid harassing the victim.
She set Sept 3 for mention of the case.
Mohamad Aznee, who was not represented by counsel, pleaded for a small bail sum.
"I am a civil servant earning RM2,000 a month. I have three school-going children and one of them is a person with disabilities, while my wife is unemployed," he said.
The prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer Insp Nangai. - Bernama
