Admin assistant claims trial to insulting modesty of female intern
Mohamad Aznee Osman was charged with committing the offence against the 23-year-old victim at a government office here at 1.58pm on April 4.
The charge was framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan allowed Mohamad Aznee bail of RM2,500 in one surety and required him to avoid harassing the victim.
She set Sept 3 for mention of the case.
Mohamad Aznee, who was not represented by counsel, pleaded for a small bail sum.
"I am a civil servant earning RM2,000 a month. I have three school-going children and one of them is a person with disabilities, while my wife is unemployed," he said.
The prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer Insp M.Alli Nangai. - Bernama

Body of missing six-year-old boy from Johor found in Rompin, suspect arrested
SEREMBAN: Police have discovered remains believed to be those of a six-year-old boy reported missing in Johor Baru last week. State police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof stated that the victim's remains were found buried in an area in Rompin, Jempol, this evening (July 28). AGC appeals sentence for motoring influencer and brother in false report case
KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has filed an appeal against the Muar Magistrates' Court's decision to sentence motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin and his brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, to one month in jail and a RM1,500 fine for lodging a false report. In a statement, the AGC confirmed the appeal was filed against the sentence given to Tengku Abdul Aziz, who pleaded guilty under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant. The appeal also covers Tengku Nizaruddin, who admitted to abetting the offence under Section 109 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 182. 'This department refers to the Muar Magistrates' Court decision on July 25, 2025, which imposed a sentence of one month's imprisonment from the date of conviction on July 25, 2025, and a fine of RM1,500, in default three months' imprisonment on both offenders, Tengku Abdul Aziz and Tengku Nizaruddin.' The AGC added, 'After examining and considering the decision of the Muar Magistrates' Court, this department has filed a notice of appeal today against the sentence handed down to both offenders.' On July 25, the court sentenced Tengku Nizaruddin, 38, also known as 'Ija', and Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, to one month's jail and a RM1,500 fine after both pleaded guilty. Theft by addicts main factor in index crime spike
ALOR STAR: Theft by drug addicts has become the leading cause of rising index crime rates in Kedah, said police chief Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah. From Jan 1 to yesterday, Kedah recorded 2,852 index crime cases, with 47 per cent involving theft linked to drug addicts, he said. "Kedah police will maintain the focus outlined by former police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh, which is to eradicate drug-related crime. "We believe that if drug issues can be tackled and eliminated as much as possible, the overall index crime rate in Kedah can be brought down," he said. Adzli was responding to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail's recent comments in conjunction with the 2025 National Anti-Drug Day celebration held in Jitra last Friday, urging the Kedah government to step up efforts to remove the state from the top four nationwide for drug addiction rates. On a separate note, he said Kedah police are stepping up border security measures despite the ongoing Thailand-Cambodia conflict occurring far from the state's northern border. "Precautionary steps are being taken by strengthening security at Malaysia's border checkpoints," he said, adding that despite growing support from agencies such as the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency, constant vigilance remains essential. "We must not let our guard down. We are committed to ensuring the country's borders remain secure," he said. Earlier, Adzli attended the rank insignia presentation ceremony for the Kedah police chief and deputy police chief, along with the handover ceremony for the deputy chief post, witnessed by Special Branch director CP Datuk Ibrahim Darus at the police contingent headquarters. Adzli, who was the acting police chief, was officially appointed to the role and promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP).
