RACA holds workshop on launch of private charity bodies
QNA Doha The Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) organised the first workshop on the commencement of private charitable organisations, following the successful completion of institutional and organisational modernisation requirements. Representatives of the organisations and several RACA officials participated in the workshop. In a statement on Wednesday, RACA said that the workshop included introductory presentations from its various departments, and detailed explanations of the latest updates, work mechanisms, and operational procedures, with the aim of enabling institutions to begin performing their duties within an organised and transparent work environment. In his speech during the opening of the workshop, Director of Licensing and Support at RACA Rashid Al Nuaimi said that this workshop represents a new starting point for a more organised and effective charitable role, commending the development efforts achieved during the past period. The Qatari society eagerly awaits the return of these institutions to the field of charitable and humanitarian work, and places great hopes on them to consolidate societal cohesion and promote sustainable development paths, he noted, expressing the authority's commitment to providing all forms of support and cooperation to enhance the efficiency of charitable and humanitarian work and enhance the readiness of institutions to carry out their roles in accordance with the highest standards of governance and transparency. Director of the Risk and Compliance Department at RACA Mohammed Al Qaed addressed the department's responsibilities, and the pivotal role it plays in promoting a culture of compliance within institutions, ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory framework, particularly with regard to corporate governance, and measures to mitigate risks related to illicit financing. Other officials at RACA addressed several topics, including the axis of the obligations of private charitable institutions in light of the decisions of the Supreme Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, in addition to individual application forms as well as the process on the electronic portal, licensing requirements, and project implementation, along with a review of services and how to access the portal. For her part, Director of Supervision and Control Department at RACA Eiman Al Absi gave a comprehensive presentation on the department's responsibilities, emphasising its vital role in monitoring institutional performance and assessing actual compliance, thus ensuring transparency in the implementation of charitable projects.

Bahrain: Eight new services launched to speed up building permits
Bahrain - Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak yesterday announced the launch of eight new services on the Benayat electronic building permit system ( It has been launched in co-operation with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), as part of efforts to enhance service efficiency and streamline procedures for investors and stakeholders. The new services include renovation, fencing, subdivision, merging, land and marine reclamation, change-of-use and modification permits for new buildings. These services support both investment and residential projects and are fully digitised, reducing processing times and the number of entities involved. The minister noted that the ongoing collaboration with iGA aims to enhance municipal services in Bahrain by simplifying procedures, improving efficiency and raising satisfaction among customers, investors and engineering offices. He added that the ministry continues to provide support and guidance to engineering offices, ensuring effective service delivery. The platform reflects the government's commitment to digital transformation across sectors, offering citizens and investors an efficient way to manage permit applications. The new services are also designed to increase procedural chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed commended the ministry's commitment to digital transformation, in line with government directives and the decisions of the ministerial committee for information and communication technology. He underlined the importance of the strategic partnership between the ministry and iGA in strengthening Bahrain's digital infrastructure, particularly in real estate and investment sectors. Mr Al Qaed noted that the new services deliver an integrated experience for engineering offices, property owners, government entities and developers. The fully digital process shortens permit issuance times and reduces the number of government entities involved, while improving user interfaces and enabling automated fee payments and permit issuance. Bahrain: Nine government apps to be merged
Bahrain - Plans to merge nine government applications into the recently launched MyGov app in the eGovernment App Store at will be completed within a year. Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed said the plan focuses on merging existing government apps into three main apps: MyGov for individuals, Al Tajir for businesses and Bahrain app for visitors, while keeping a few apps such as eKey 2.0 as a supportive feature due to its nature. He said the first quarter of 2025 witnessed the implementation of the first phase of developing the MyGov app, including the announcement of the integration of BeAware Bahrain app services and its discontinuation. Additionally, the services of Bahrain Post and Electricity and Water apps were merged, with a gradual phase-out of these two applications based on user experience analysis. Mr Al Qaed clarified that during the second quarter of the year, phase two will focus on integrating the services of the eTraffic and Islamiyat apps into the MyGov app to be followed by services of the Sehati, Wejhati and eShabab apps. He added that the decision to merge these applications was based on their high usage rates. Mr Al Qaed pointed out that in conjunction with the integration of applications 19 additional eServices will be added to MyGov app, in addition to displaying other documents and certificates in the second phase, which will be announced at a later stage. He also stated that a unified payment feature will be made available through the MyGov app for several services, including criminal order payments and traffic violation payments.
