
RACA holds workshop on launch of private charity bodies

The Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) organised the first workshop on the commencement of private charitable organisations, following the successful completion of institutional and organisational modernisation requirements.
Representatives of the organisations and several RACA officials participated in the workshop.
In a statement on Wednesday, RACA said that the workshop included introductory presentations from its various departments, and detailed explanations of the latest updates, work mechanisms, and operational procedures, with the aim of enabling institutions to begin performing their duties within an organised and transparent work environment.
In his speech during the opening of the workshop, Director of Licensing and Support at RACA Rashid Al Nuaimi said that this workshop represents a new starting point for a more organised and effective charitable role, commending the development efforts achieved during the past period.
The Qatari society eagerly awaits the return of these institutions to the field of charitable and humanitarian work, and places great hopes on them to consolidate societal cohesion and promote sustainable development paths, he noted, expressing the authority's commitment to providing all forms of support and cooperation to enhance the efficiency of charitable and humanitarian work and enhance the readiness of institutions to carry out their roles in accordance with the highest standards of governance and transparency.
Director of the Risk and Compliance Department at RACA Mohammed Al Qaed addressed the department's responsibilities, and the pivotal role it plays in promoting a culture of compliance within institutions, ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory framework, particularly with regard to corporate governance, and measures to mitigate risks related to illicit financing.
Other officials at RACA addressed several topics, including the axis of the obligations of private charitable institutions in light of the decisions of the Supreme Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, in addition to individual application forms as well as the process on the electronic portal, licensing requirements, and project implementation, along with a review of services and how to access the portal.
For her part, Director of Supervision and Control Department at RACA Eiman Al Absi gave a comprehensive presentation on the department's responsibilities, emphasising its vital role in monitoring institutional performance and assessing actual compliance, thus ensuring transparency in the implementation of charitable projects.

MoT undersecretary inaugurates Qatar's 1st maritime training, simulation centre at UDST
DOHA: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport HE Mohammed Abdullah Al Maadeed and President of University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi have inaugurated the Maritime Training and Simulation Center (MTSC) at the UDST. The MTSC, the first of its kind in Qatar, is designed to empower current and future maritime professionals with internationally accredited skills and hands-on simulation experience, positioning Qatar as a regional leader in maritime training and innovation. The MTSC provides an interactive learning environment with modern classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art simulation technologies of Classes A and C, featuring navigation and full-mission engine simulation rooms, and maritime safety training facilities including for firefighting and first aid. The MTSC offers specialized training programs recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Following the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by multiple high-profile Qatari officials and maritime industry experts, Al Maadeed toured the facility and was briefed on its services. He also attended an interactive presentation on some of the cutting-edge simulation technologies. The inauguration followed the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Transport and UDST, formalizing a long-term partnership to advance Qatar's maritime capabilities. Signed by Al Maadeed and Dr Al Naemi, the MoU reflects a mutual commitment to developing a future-ready workforce through specialized training programs, international certifications, and collaborative research. It also lays the foundation for sustained cooperation in knowledge exchange and capacity building, driving the growth, resilience, and regional and global competitiveness of Qatar's maritime industry. On this occasion, Al Maadeed said, "Inaugurating the MTSC today marks a significant milestone embodying Qatari educational institution's commitment to enhancing the country's maritime infrastructure and capabilities through such training facilities equipped with state-of-the-art world technologies. As the global maritime landscape evolves, preparing our workforce to lead with expertise and resilience is essential.' Today's MoU with UDST, he added, 'is a cornerstone of MoT's broader action plans that aim at further enhancing our maritime transportation ecosystem to contribute to achieving sustainable development of that vital industry.' The Undersecretary thanked those in charge of those initiatives at UDST and thought the day was a promising day for the future of Qatar's maritime industry. Qatar, European External Action Service hold round of political consultations
DOHA: The fourth round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European External Action Service (EEAS) was held in Doha. The Qatari side was headed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and the European side was headed by EEAS Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs Olof Skoog. The political consultations discussed relations and ways to support and enhance them.

QCB announces changes in one riyal banknote
DOHA: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced changes in the one riyal denomination of the fifth series of banknotes. The new edition will include changes in the official state emblem, arabic numerals, and issue date, QCB said. QCB said the previous edition of the Qatari riyal (Fifth Series) will remain in circulation, and the change will be applied to other currency denominations at a later date. The change was implemented to align with the laws in force in the country, QCB further said.
