I tried a natural 45p bathroom cleaning hack
But have you tried making your bathroom sink, bath and tiles sparkle like new, using a piece of fruit? I have, and it blew my mind. I'm the first to admit that I get sucked into these ridiculous trends on social media when it comes to household hacks – the cheaper (and weirder), the better, in my honest opinion. Because let's be honest, cleaning your house with the same old anti-bacterial spray, such as Flash or Zoflora, can get pretty boring, and that's coming from someone who cleans for a hobby. Can you make cleaner out of grapefruit? 45p bathroom hack that blew my mind So, when I came across a cleaning expert who recommended giving your bathroom suite a rub-down with a grapefruit and some salt, I quite literally jumped (up from the sofa) at the chance. My first thoughts were, is my bathroom going to turn into a giant bucket of Pimms-like sticky syrup, and will it attract every flying insect (I'm looking at you, wasps nest across the road) surrounding my house? I just had to find out, because there was no way a humongous 45p grapefruit from Tesco could replace my trusty method army – I was adamant this was even too weird for me. But do you know what, Nigel Bearman at Daily Poppins was right, it does clean your bathroom surfaces and it does one hell of a job without any harsh chemicals in sight. I actually ate the other half of grapefruit which wasn't used to clean my bathroom - don't judge (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) What stood out to me the most was how much it made the likes of my bathroom taps shine like they were straight out of a Wickes showroom. It even managed to get rid of a small build-up of limescale. Plus, I can't tell you how refreshing it was to have a natural, zesty scent take over my bathroom, a difference from the usual pungent anti-bacterial sprays. Although it looked a bit of a mess at first (I found it quite satisfying squeezing the inner grapefruit flesh over my sink and bath), it all washed away within seconds of pouring warm water on top. Best of all, after letting the grapefruit juice and salt soak, there wasn't a speckle of sticky residue, which was my ultimate fear. All that was left was a gleaming sink, taps and bath without any dust, grime or stains, and it only took 10 minutes to achieve. What do you usually clean your bathroom with? (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) How to use a grapefruit for cleaning When cleaning my bathroom with grapefruit and salt, this is the method I followed, thanks to Nigel's instructions: Cut the grapefruit in half and sprinkle it with coarse salt (like Epsom or sea salt) - I used normal cooking salt and it worked just fine Take one half of the grapefruit and lightly scrub it over the surface of your bath and shower Let it sit for a few minutes to help the citric acid work even harder on the stains (optional) Rinse the area with warm water and wipe clean if necessary So, what's the science behind grapefruit and salt being an excellent bathroom cleaner? Nigel explained: 'Grapefruit contains citric acid which helps to quickly break down soap scum and grime found in baths and showers. It acts as a natural cleaning agent and dissolves through tough stains while eliminating germs and bacteria. An unbelievable transformation if I do say so myself (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) 'The salt works as an abrasive to help scrub the grime away while you use it, while the grapefruit uses its natural acids and antibacterial properties to break down the buildup and leave your bathroom sparkling clean. It's a simple, eco-friendly solution that gives you a fresh, citrus-scented finish.' Recommended reading: Additionally, you can also make an all-purpose grapefruit spray – just squeeze the juice from the grapefruit into a spray bottle, add 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar, top it up with warm water, and give it a good shake. You can also use the leftover grapefruit peel to deodorise your bathroom bin or pop it in a pot of boiling water to naturally scent the whole room. If you fancy giving your bathroom a clean using this cheap grapefruit hack, let us know how you get on in the comments below. What a zest-tastic idea from Nigel, I owe you one.

I tried viral angel hair chocolate – what on earth is it?
Now, between me and you, I still haven't tried Dubai chocolate, but when I saw Tesco was now stocking the Noesis Angel Hair Chocolate bar, you bet I got hold of one within a matter of hours. The sweet treat (currently on sale for £4.50 with a Clubcard) is made of ruby and white chocolate, but inside it has pistachio cream and cotton candy (also known as candyfloss to us in the UK). This week, I have watched endless amounts of people eat the chocolate bar on TikTok during my evening hourly doom scroll. Many have compared it to what can only be described as 'eating a carpet' due to the candyfloss "fibres", so I had no idea what to expect, and I think I actually scared myself. Truth be told, I'm still asking, what the hell did I eat? In fact, I can't stop thinking about it, as it might be the weirdest thing I've digested in 2025 so far. As soon as I unwrapped the Noesis Angel Hair Chocolate bar, there was an almighty waft of white chocolate, now this sweet scent of vanilla was a delight to get started with. But then came the real fun part, it was time to snap the chocolate bar in half to see what was waiting for me inside. Have you seen this viral angel hair chocolate at other supermarkets in the UK? (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) Alas, I was greeted by a mass of literal hairy pink and white fibres, and my brain almost exploded – was I really about to eat such a bonkers-looking substance? I know it's candyfloss, but my mind could hardly accept it as it was so dense. Anyway, I got a grip and took a bite - my mouth was instantly filled with a very bizarre texture, I almost felt like I'd bitten into a tea towel and I froze. But after only a few seconds later, I carried on rapidly chewing and noticed it was dissolving. All of a sudden, it turned into a pleasant chocolatey mix so I began to relax. I don't think I will eat anything as weird as an angel hair chocolate bar for the rest of the year (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) I was surprised at just how lovely it tasted, there was a balance of flavours between the creamy ruby and white chocolate, as well as the candyfloss. Recommended reading: Tesco has 'the best' prawn cocktail crisps according to shoppers - do you agree? M&S strawberry sandwich customers are fuming 'it's only half a sandwich' Nestle says 'sorry' as it discontinues KitKat described as 'dream snack' Sadly, I thought the pistachio flavour lacked a little for my liking - in my opinion, there could be more of it. What I will say, is that this bar is only 70g, and although quite thick, it's awfully small for the price (after about two bites each between me and my partner, it was gone). Would I eat it again? Absolutely. But it might be the first and last time I spend near enough £5 for a smaller-than-average bar of chocolate that left my taste buds with such confusion.

I ate a giant 15-inch sausage roll 10x bigger than Greggs
Well, I have, and it blew my mind. As a northern girl who grew up on Poundbakery and Greenhalgh's creations (to name a few), that's quite a statement. This 'ultimate' sausage roll from Valley Bakery weighs a whopping 1.3kg and is 15 inches long. Pretty impressive compared to the size of a standard sausage roll from Greggs at just 103g. But does it have all the mouth-watering qualities similar to an iconic sausage roll from one of the nation's beloved bakeries, and does it beat it by a hefty sausage-mile? I had to find out. So, what exactly is the 'ultimate' sausage roll made by Valley Bakery? The giant sausage roll has returned for a limited time only to mark Father's Day on Sunday, June 15, via Prestige Hampers. You might have even heard of the Valley Bakery creation as it's been featured on ITV's Good Morning Britain and 'enjoyed' by Piers Morgan, who claimed: 'Now this is what I call a sausage roll.' Is this the biggest sausage roll you have seen? (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) The bakery explains: 'Beautifully handcrafted in the heart of Yorkshire our artisan bakers have handcrafted our famous sausage roll, using the finest British pork from responsibly hand-reared pigs. 'Encased in delicious locally churned all-butter pastry, seasoned with a carefully selected blend of herbs by our pastry experts to create unforgettable flavour in every bite. 'Our bakers follow traditional, small-batch methods, resulting in a carefully curated and delicious gift.' It's been almost a week since it was delivered to my house (which was very well packed with ice bags) and I still can't get over the size of the sausage roll. The giant sausage roll has lovely all-butter pastry (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) I have no idea how one even creates a recipe for such a meaty beast, but it works. The pork inside the well-baked, glorious, buttery, flaky pastry might well be the best I've ever tried – no fat, no gristle and certainly no dripping grease. Just full of flavour with all the usual herbs you would expect in a sausage roll and not overpowering in the slightest. You could certainly tell it was made from the 'finest' pork and I have to admit, it's a league above Greggs'. But that does come with a price, as the 'ultimate' sausage roll will set you back £29.99 (currently on offer). Yet I think it's pretty reasonable because there's no doubt it's the biggest I've ever seen and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into sourcing the quality of the meat. What a perfect gift just in time for Father's Day (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) Plus, although it's back for Father's Day and would make the perfect gift if the fatherly figure in your life can't resist a pie or sausage roll (and trying new meaty bakes), it could also be ideal for upcoming family gatherings. I gave five people in my family two servings each and there was still enough for double that, if not more. Recommended reading: 'Iconic' Greggs sausage roll to be 'immortalised' at Madame Tussauds in London I ate all that Greggs had to offer and here's how they ranked from worst to best Greggs' summer 2025 menu features new pizza slice and sandwich range from £1.55 I'll also let you into a little secret – pop it in the oven to warm up before eating to get the best of the all-butter pastry, and pair it with a sweet or savoury chutney (I went for caramelised onion). Who knows, I might try dipping a Greggs sausage roll into some chutney next time. Prestige Hampers' Father's Day Ultimate Sausage Roll is priced at £29.99 (on offer instead of £49.99) and available to preorder for delivery online at now (a link to which can be found above).
