Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have lunch in Florida. Could an Aerosmith reunion be next?

It was just another sunny day on Florida's west coast — until two rock legends showed up for lunch. Singer Steven Tyler, 77, and guitarist Joe Perry, 74, of Aerosmith were spotted grabbing a bite and posing for a photo together at Morton's Gourmet Market, a longtime specialty food store in Sarasota. The market opened in 1969 — just a year before Aerosmith launched the career that would eventually land the band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. In the photo shared by Morton's on social media, Tyler — wearing a sheer black shirt, patterned pants, layered necklaces, and holding a Morton's bag — stands smiling next to two employees in branded black shirts. To their right is Perry, in a burgundy button-down shirt, ripped jeans, beaded jewelry, and his signature wild hair, completing a snapshot that must have delighted fans and likely surprised a few unsuspecting shoppers. Why did Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith visit Morton's in Florida? A manager for Morton's — which opened more than half a century ago when Ted Morton purchased Marable's Market — could not be immediately reached for comment. However, the gourmet grocery store revealed on social media that the rock stars, once known as the 'Toxic Twins,' dropped in for a bite to eat. 'Never a dull moment at the market!' Morton's posted on Thursday, June 19. 'Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith dropped by for lunch. Awesome guys!' Of course, Sarasota has deep ties to Aerosmith, with Perry owning a home on Longboat Key. But appearances by the guitar hero remain rare — especially ones where he's accompanied by his longtime lead singer and songwriting partner, a duo responsible for such classic rock anthems as the Aerosmith hits 'Walk This Way,' 'Same Old Song and Dance,' and 'Back in the Saddle.' Could an Aerosmith reunion be happening? Aerosmith retired from touring last year after Tyler suffered a vocal cord injury. But Perry is preparing to get back on stage with his namesake group — and some familiar faces are joining him. The Joe Perry Project's eight-date run kicks off Aug. 13 at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Event Center and features fellow Aerosmith members Brad Whitford and Buck Johnson, along with Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes and Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz of Stone Temple Pilots. Could Tyler make a surprise appearance? The Sarasota sighting certainly fuels the speculation. Perry's publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Eating Around Saratoga Springs New York

Saratoga Springs is a city in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The name reflects the ... More presence of mineral springs in the area, which has made Saratoga a popular resort destination. Winter can be harsh in Upstate New York: think multiple feet of snow blocking your driveway. So, the area's denizens sometimes hunker down for dinner. So, luckily for Saratoga Springs' residents, the town famous for its Triple Crown racetrack, offers solid food both in and out of racing season. Saratoga Springs is known for its Triple Crown racing. Most of the standout restaurants are local, single-location places and even the Morton's here is somewhat swanky. A handful of new wine, and cocktail, bars have opened the town's wine lists offer some unusual gems if you cherry pick them. Bubbles Galore The inside of Bocage. A new wine bar that runs NYC hours just opened. It is serving up bubbles from all over the world--as well as great still wine--in a swank setting accompanied by bumps of caviar. Bocage Champagne Bar would not be out of place in Brooklyn, and I mean that in a good way. The couple who owns the bar are slated to open another place called Standard Fare this spring, which will feature even later opening hours. The small sliver of Skidmore students, whose campus is up the hill from downtown Saratoga, who are of drinking age will no doubt love this place. While the Saratoga Morton's is unfortunately based in a casino, the steaks are good. And the DeToren Fusion V was better. It is one of my favorite Cape Blends--riffs on Bordeaux blends that may also contain wildcards like Syrah and Pinotage—from the Stellenbosch region. Vineyard landscape at sunset with mountains in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town, South Africa. wine ... More grapes on vine in vineyard, Another wine highlight was the Dole Des Monts, a Swiss wine based on the grape of the same name, found at Seneca. Swiss wines are rarely seen on lists stateside as production is low, prices are high and the Swiss themselves are very fond of their own wines. This wine actually worked perfectly with a dish of fried perogies. Other Bites Around Town Fried chicken at Hattie's. Hattie's, one of Saratoga's historic restaurants, serves up some nice fried chicken and savory Gumbo. The hours here are not as flexible as at Bocage, so come early for brunch or chow down quickly. The Spanish-influenced restaurant, Boca Bistro, serves up a nice selection of salads. They also had a good, tomato-based seafood stew swimming in clams and shrimp. The wine by the glass selection is limited, but there are a few Spanish offerings. The oddly named Hamlet & Ghost is considered one of the best restaurants in town. During racing season locals say it is tough to get a reservation here. The cozy, buzzy restaurant serves up some interesting small plates such as burrata fondue and chicory salad but doesn't seem to have a lot of structure to its menu. Once again, these upstate wine buyers are finding some gems and we thoroughly enjoyed a great bottle of Chinon my last night. Saratoga Springs is a city in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The name reflects the ... More presence of mineral springs in the area, which has made Saratoga a popular resort destination. The town is also home to a number of local tasting rooms such as the Thirsty Owl, which I sadly didn't get to visit. The Finger Lakes' wine appellations are sadly a three-hour drive away. The town has slow-as-molasses train service on the scenic route from Montreal and can also be reached by Albany airport.

Ole Miss coach Chris Beard turns March Madness talk to hot dogs and salads

ATL,ANTA (AP) — Chris Beard has shifted his culinary focus from salads to hot dogs. The Mississippi coach had recently commented on the abundance and quality of the food served during the NCAA Tournament, saying it reminded him of the salad bars at Brazilian steakhouses. Speaking Thursday on the eve of the Rebels making only their second appearance in the Sweet 16, Beard was asked about the salad at his latest team meal. But he quickly pivoted to the franks served at a famous Atlanta fast-food joint, the Varsity, which has been around since 1928. 'I think the Varsity hot dog is arguably the best, in my opinion,' said Beard, who grew up in suburban Marietta. 'It's Coney Island, it's the Varsity, and then it's the old baseball game hot dog. Different than football, different than basketball, different than a concert.' Beard was just getting warmed up. 'If you go to a baseball game at any level, high school, summer ball, all the way to the major leagues, if the hot dog is served in tin foil, that's the key,' he said. 'Not a big fan of the hot dog where they pull it with the tongues right off the deal, drop it in water. That's not my deal. If I'm at a baseball game and I see that there's tin foil involved in a hot dog, that's where we roll.' Quite a review, but let's get back to the salad. Beard, whose team meets Michigan State on Friday night in the South Region semifinals, noted that the Rebels held a team dinner at Morton's, a high-end steakhouse in downtown Atlanta. 'Morton's had the Caesar salad,' the coach said, 'but the food was so amazing after the salad, that myself included, not a lot of us went with the salad. They got the shrimp cocktails on the table and the crab cake -- I guess you call them balls — with a little stick in it. "It's hard to get fired up about the salad knowing what's coming down the line.' ___ AP March Madness bracket: and coverage: Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season.
