Trichy: In its monthly meeting on Monday, the Trichy Corporation passed a resolution setting rent and deposit rates for shops at the Panjapur truck terminal, located on the Trichy-Madurai National Highway near the Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT). The local body has requested support from the Trichy city police to enforce the diversion of trucks and heavy vehicles currently parked on city highways and service roads to the new terminal. The council was informed that the terminal has 51 shops on the ground floor and 28 shops-cum-office spaces on the first floor. Rent has been fixed at Rs 132 per square foot, following government guidelines, while deposits range from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, depending on shop size (250 to 1,001 sq ft). The shops and amenities, including dormitories and sanitary complexes, will be leased out through a tender process. CPI councillor K Suresh emphasized the importance of police cooperation, stating, "If trucks parked on city roads are not regulated and diverted to the terminal, the project will fail." Councillors highlighted ongoing issues with truck parking on East Boulevard Road and near Gandhi Market, which cause significant traffic congestion due to poor enforcement. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Uber luxury living at Hyderabad's billionaire junction Sumadhura Group Learn More Undo Mayor Mu Anbalagan assured that police would be directed to streamline on-street truck parking and ensure vehicles are redirected to the Panjapur terminal. Trichy district court complex gets new road at Rs 50 lakh

Trichy: After 20 years, the roads inside the Trichy district court complex in Cantonment are being relaid at 50 lakh by Trichy corporation. The funds for the roads were sanctioned under the MLA constituency development scheme by municipal administration minister K N Nehru. The minister and mayor Mu Anbalagan inspected work on Friday. Mayor Mu Anbalagan said that advocates made a representation with the minister seeking repair of roads inside the court complex. Though the roads have to be laid by the public works department, the local body volunteered to relay the roads as water stagnation during the monsoon affect the accessibility within and outside the court campus. Trichy corpn to relay 115 km of damaged roads at Rs 80 crore

Trichy: The Trichy Corporation council was informed on Friday that 115 km of damaged roads across five zones will be relaid at a cost of Rs 80 crore in two phases. The roads were damaged due to ongoing underground drainage (UGD) and drinking water projects. Some stretches will also get new stormwater drains, and the work is expected to be completed before the northeast monsoon in October 2025. DMK councillor V Porkodi of Ward 63 raised concerns over incomplete UGD work in her ward and the poor condition of roads. In response, Mayor Mu Anbalagan said Rs 67.9 crore had already been sanctioned under various schemes—including the Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Project (TURIP) and the Central Finance Commission (CFC)—to relay 107 km of roads. "A tender has been floated, and construction will be completed in two months," he said. An additional Rs 12 crore has been allotted to lay 8 km of roads with stormwater drains under a separate phase. Of the 50 resolutions passed in the council meeting, a proposal to outsource maintenance of the Oyamari and Karumandapam crematoriums drew opposition from a section of councillors, including the CPM. The mayor said he would consider their demand to retain control over the crematoriums. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo CPI councillor K Suresh flagged that 11 urban wellness centres launched two years ago remain non-functional due to delayed staff appointments. Corpn floats tender for maintaining Panjapur terminus

Trichy: Trichy corporation has floated a tender to identify a private agency to operate and maintain the upcoming integrated bus terminus (IBT) at Panjapur for 15 years under public private partnership (PPP) mode. Amid concerns over outsourcing the maintenance of the terminus, the local body has introduced key performance indicators (KPIs) in managing the air-conditioned terminus built at Rs 246 crore, and any deficiency in the service will incur penalties for the concessionaire. The maintenance of the terminus includes overseeing electrical and mechanical equipment, waste management, parking management, and collection of rents from shops. The local body has suggested the private agency use automated number plate reading (ANPR) cameras to monitor the movement of buses and other private vehicles. The agency will submit a monthly report to Trichy corporation including one on complaint management. "The terminus will get a reception desk to guide passengers to the bus bays," said an official source. The concessionaire will set up water bottle and cloth bag vending machines in six locations inside the IBT. As per the agreement, the local body said the outsourcing agency will be penalized Rs 10,000 a day if the circulation area and platforms are not cleaned. The agency has to clean the common access areas three times a day. Lapses in waste collection will incur a penalty of Rs 2,000. The penalties will be increased by 15% once every three years. Penalties will be deducted from the payment to the agency for it services. However, no penalty has been announced for lapses in maintaining the air conditioning system.
