Actor Mukul Dev's sudden death on May 23 at the age of 54 left the film industry in deep shock. He had reportedly been admitted to a hospital in Delhi for over a week, where his health deteriorated before he passed away. Those close to the family shared that Mukul had been deeply affected by the loss of his parents and had become increasingly withdrawn in recent years. He was preparing for a Bollywood comeback with Son of Sardaar 2. The film's teaser is out, and Mukul features as the character Tony, alongside Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, and a star-studded cast. He pointed out that many who were commenting on his brother's health had not been in touch with him for years. 'The people who are speaking out now weren't even in touch with him. They say he was unfit, but he ran half-marathons. Yes, he had gained weight — when someone stops caring about themselves, it shows… Who really stayed in touch with him between 2019 and 2024? Did they visit him when he was in the hospital or attend his prayer meet?" he rued.
