7 Greek restaurants in Dubai that transport you straight to the Aegean

Dubai's culinary landscape offers globetrotting foodies an impressive array of international flavors—no passport required. For those craving the sun-drenched simplicity of Greek cuisine, where olive oil flows freely and feta is treated as a way of life, the city boasts an impressive selection of tavernas, high-end eateries, and lively spots where plate-smashing is practically mandatory. From creamy tzatziki to smoky grilled octopus, these seven restaurants bring the authentic taste of Greece to your table with remarkable authenticity. GAIA View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gaia Dubai (@gaia__dxb) A crown jewel in Dubai's dining scene, GAIA by acclaimed chef Izu Ani elevates Greek-Mediterranean fare to an art form. The sophisticated, neutral-toned space—accented with tasteful pops of color—sets the stage for a menu that changes with the seasons. This summer's offerings sing with Mediterranean brightness: think tomato salad drizzled with Cycladic olive oil, marinated peppers with roasted garlic, and a sea bream carpaccio that's as photogenic as it is delicious. The modern take on moussaka is a revelation, while the hidden NYX Bar (a celebrity favorite) offers an exclusive nightcap spot. Perfect for: Special occasions when only elevated Greek will do. OPA View this post on Instagram A post shared by OPA Dubai (@opadubai) If your ideal Greek experience involves dancing on tables and shouting 'Opa!' at the top of your lungs, this is your spot. More than just a restaurant, OPA is a full-blown celebration of Hellenic hospitality, complete with Zorba dancing, napkin-twirling, and the occasional plate smashed in jubilation. The vibrant, foliage-filled space sets the scene for a feast of shareable classics—creamy tzatziki, slow-cooked lamb, grilled halloumi—best enjoyed with a group of friends and a bottle of ouzo. Perfect for: Late-night revelry and unforgettable group dinners. Avli by tashas View this post on Instagram A post shared by Avli by tashas (@avlibytashas) From renowned restaurateur Natasha Sideris, Avli brings a touch of Grecian elegance to DIFC. This chic spot is ideal for everything from power lunches to romantic dinners, with a menu that balances tradition and modernity. Start with an array of dips (the taramasalata is a must), then move on to grilled octopus or tender chicken souvlaki. The adjoining Galaxy Bar makes it easy to transition from dinner to cocktails in style. Perfect for: Impressing clients or dates with refined Greek flavors. Mythos Kouzina & Grill View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mythos (@mythosdubai) Despite the influx of new Greek spots, Mythos remains the gold standard for no-frills, authentic Hellenic cuisine. The original JLT location (now joined by a City Walk sibling) feels like a cozy taverna straight out of Mykonos, complete with a charming terrace for cooler evenings. The menu is a greatest-hits compilation of Greek comfort food: gemista (stuffed tomatoes), moussaka layered with velvety béchamel, and a mixed grill platter featuring succulent lamb chops. The baked feta, drizzled with honey and sesame, is legendary. Perfect for: A comforting, home-style Greek feast that won't break the bank. Taverna Greek Kitchen Tucked into the picturesque waterways of Souk Madinat Jumeirah, this relaxed spot offers a taste of Greece with a side of Dubai's signature waterfront charm. The menu sticks to the classics—crispy calamari, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, flaky cheese pies—with ingredients imported directly from Greece. The laid-back atmosphere makes it ideal for a leisurely lunch or a casual dinner after exploring the souk. Perfect for: A low-key Greek meal in one of Dubai's most scenic settings. AMMOS With its whitewashed walls, airy interiors, and marina views, AMMOS channels the breezy elegance of a seaside Greek taverna. The kitchen sources most ingredients directly from Greece, ensuring an authentic experience—standouts include the orzo seafood and perfectly grilled Greek sea bass. The weekly Greek Night brings an extra dose of authenticity (and plate-smashing) to the mix. Perfect for: A relaxed yet sophisticated taste of the Aegean. OIA Greek Restaurant Named after Santorini's most famous village, OIA brings a slice of the Cyclades to Dubai with its blue-and-white terrace, olive trees, and views of Ain Dubai. The menu is packed with Aegean flavors—grilled meats, fresh seafood, and mezze—all at surprisingly reasonable prices (even the ribeye stays under AED 200). The bright pink bougainvillea adds a pop of color, making this one of the city's most Instagrammable Greek spots. Perfect for: Affordable Greek with vacation-worthy vibes. Whether you're craving a refined seafood supper or just a simple plate of moussaka that tastes like a Greek grandmother made it, Dubai's Greek restaurants deliver it. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram Images: Supplied & Feature Image: Pinterest

Love pours in for Ronan O'Gara after Lions commentary debut

The Lions continued their winning ways in Brisbane as they ran in another eight tries to beat the Queensland Reds 52-12. It was a shaky start for the Lions as they conceded two first half tries but with Gibson-Park on debut the Lions' attack looked dangerous with himself and Finn Russell keeping the game at a high pace. This speed was crucial as the Lions ran in three first half tries through Tommy Freeman, Andrew Porter and Duhan van der Merwe. Duhan Van Der Merwe. Pic:Andy Farrell's halftime team talk worked again as his side came out full guns blazing in the second half, with captain Itoje leading the charge with a try just after the break. The Lions asserted their dominance thereafter as player of the match Jac Morgan, Huw Jones, Tommy Freeman again and Garry Ringrose all ran in scores as the Lions stomped to victory. An off-field noteworthy story from the match was the commentary debut of Ronan O'Gara. The former Munster man had just landed down under following some time off after the end of the Top 14 season on June 7, which saw his La Rochelle side fail to reach the playoffs. He was joined by former Welsh Internationals and Lions Dan Biggar and Sam Warburton alongside Miles Harrison on Sky Sports. His commentary went down a treat with his fascinating insight into the intricacies of what the players were doing and how mistakes that the Lions got away with against the Reds could be costly come the Wallabies tests. Jamison Gibson-Park. Pic:It was refreshing to have such an esteemed player and coach give their knowledge to the viewer. Many took to twitter to praise O'Gara. Gorgeous villa was perfect base to enjoy stunning Greek isle blessed with beautiful beaches and stunning coastline

A villa holiday offers freedom and space to enjoy everything the island has to offer GREECE IS THE WORD Gorgeous villa was perfect base to enjoy stunning Greek isle blessed with beautiful beaches and stunning coastline Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) YOU'LL want to stay forever if you're lucky enough to enjoy a week on the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia. Well, my wife Jackie and I certainly did after enjoying one of the best holidays of our life luxuriating in an ultra-modern villa in Trapezaki. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 12 The beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia Credit: Alamy 12 Villa Select has 77 properties to choose from on the island - we picked Notos for its stunning views and sleek interior 12 Views from the pool were to die for Credit: Supplied We'd been looking for a relaxing week and couldn't have found a better haven to do that in than Villa Notos. After a quick and faultless Jet2 flight from Glasgow we collected our little Fiat Panda right next to the airport and were on our way for our first journey on this gorgeous island. The first thing you notice are the narrow bending roads — that's after you've remembered to drive on the right-hand side of them! From airport to our villa took just over 30 minutes, so no complaints there. And wow, what a location. One of Villa Select's 77 one-to-five bedroom villas on the island, ours was simply stunning. Just one year old, the two-bedroom villa Notos was immaculate and bright inside. 12 The views continued in the livingroom at Villa Notos 12 It was a joy waking to the view from Villa Notos It had everything we could possibly require for our stay, including a tremendous welcoming pack to start us off. Milk, eggs, butter, honey, cheese, ham, bread, yogurt, olives, bottles of water, juice and a bottle of wine. Yamos! Our bedroom featured a huge bed and the bright bathroom also had all the essentials, including a super powerful overhead shower. The other bedroom had the same features and in between them was the large sitting area with a huge Smart TV, dining island, and a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. It also had very welcome air-conditioning, super reliable Wi-Fi, beach bag and towels. With full-length glass doors we couldn't wait to get our first view of the outside area and what a spectacular sight it was. Sun World -See Kefalonia Fully tiled terrace with four loungers, covered sitting area, dining table and chairs, sun parasols, fab barbeque — and our very own pool! And we looked right down on the beautiful Ionian Sea and across to Zante, another of the Greek islands. An early scouting walk took me to the village's supermarket in ten minutes and also to my first Mythos beer at the Trapezaki Restaurant. And my return walk set me up for my first dip in the infinity pool — bliss. Most of the following day was a lazy one as we were happy to just relax and enjoy the magnificent villa. We also had a visit from the resort manager Kara, with her wealth of knowledge of Kefalonia, she highlighted places that were well worth visiting. Her friends included local wine-makers Mr and Mrs Panagis Tavianatios and we managed to get a couple of bottles of their lovely Valsamo. We ventured along to the Trapezaki Restaurant that evening where the local staff were friendly and helpful. 12 Trapezaki Restaurant become a firm fav for Allan and his wife Credit: Supplied The highlight for both of us was the classic Greek stew Beef Stifado, tender meat with slow-cooked shallots in a rich tomato sauce served with rice, right. It was difficult to drag ourselves away from the villa but after a night of surprisingly heavy rain, some sightseeing was in order. Around 30 minutes drive away is Skala, a popular spot with holiday-makers, thanks to its sandy beach, clear water and a good choice of bars and restaurants. Afterwards we took in Kefalonia's green and lush interior as we enjoyed breathtaking views on a drive up through Porus to Sami on the east coast of the island. 12 Stunning Sami harbour is worth a visit Credit: Getty 12 The beautiful sandy beach of Trapezaki, Kefalonia, has beautiful turquoise sea. Credit: Alamy We enjoyed lunch seated outside one of the restaurants with a super view of the sea and bobbing boats in the harbour. The return journey was just as spectacular with pine tree-clad mountains and gorgeous olive groves. Arriving back home we found the Select Villas pool man there to clean up after the earlier rainfall. what fab service. Next morning we drove down to the popular Trapezaki beach, where we drank in the views along with some lovely coffees. Back at the villa we lazed and splashed about for the rest of the day, enjoying all the comforts that come with having a home from home on your hols. 12 Allan cooked up a storm on the villa's BBQ Credit: Supplied Al fresco dining that evening meant kebabs and burgers from our own fabby BBQ, along with some of that local wine hitting the right spot at sunset. Another drive offered up coastal views going up through Lassi to Argostoli, the capital of the island, where we wandered through the pretty streets to the waterfront. We sat across from the 'I Love Kefalonia' sign capturing more views of the turquoise Ionian Sea. The sign could have been specially made for us! 12 The famous sign in Kefalonia's capital Argostoli Credit: Supplied 12 Argostoli Bay in Kefalonia Credit: Getty Back at base we became regulars at the Trapezaki Restaurant where the dishes — including a super burger stuffed with feta cheese and tomato — never disappointed. This lovely village, with its welcoming locals, became our own little slice of paradise. And we couldn't have asked for anywhere better to enjoy it all than from Villa Notos. We loved every minute we spent there. While we've stayed in plenty of hotels, including some pretty spectacular ones, the freedom and space your own villa offers cannot be beaten. It ended all too soon though and sadly we had to make our way back to the airport where we sat in the lovely outside seating area, enjoying our final views of the Ionian Sea in the sunshine with a couple of drinks — and plotted how we might miss our flight and become permanent residents on this idyllic isle.

Check out our full Ammos review here GAIA Credit: GAIA One of the best Greek restaurants in Dubai, and one of the best-known, GAIA is from acclaimed chef Izu Ani, who's a popular name in the city. A super-smart restaurant, this is all neutral tones with pops of colour and it's a really stunning space. It has high-end, fancy vibes (one for a special occasion) and there's even an exclusive hidden bar, NYX, which is a favourite with celebrity guests. When it comes to dining, the sea bream carpaccio is one of the most Instagramble dishes out there, but the quality is as good as it looks, while the modern take on moussaka is also a highlight. The terrace is the prime place to sit here, overlooking the show, while inside there's a fish market-style counter and an open kitchen. Coming from a celebrity chef you can expect quality ingredients, but at a higher price point, making this one for special occasions. Make sure to pick from the seafood counter and have your catch prepared how you like it, while there are Grecian-inspired mixed drinks and bottles of grape, too. Licensed. OIA Greek Restaurant Credit: OIA Greek Restaurant With blues and whites (and its name) stolen from the hillsides of Santorini, OIA is a cute new addition to Dubai's ever-popular Greek dining scene. The terrace is the main draw, with bright pink bougainvilleas and olive trees adding a pop of colour, and views over the now-revolving Ain Dubai. It's taverna-style dining here, with a menu packed with Aegean flavours. The most expensive main, a grilled ribeye, is still under AED200, so this is one of the best value Greek restaurants in town. Check out the full OIA Greek restaurant review here OPA Credit: OPA A lively venue that's as much about the vibe as the food, OPA is the place to go for a party with Grecian flair. The restaurant is decked out with foliage, flowers and every other Instagrammable accent you could wish for, while the atmosphere is fun-loving and energetic. Head here for a late-night dinner and you won't be disappointed as you twirl napkins round your head, join in Zorba dancing and throw plates on the floor to cries of opa! Check out our full OPA review here Shimmers Credit: Shimmers A longstanding spot at Jumeirah Mina A'Salam, Shimmers is adored by many, not just for the food. The setting is spectacular, set on the beach and with a prime view of Burj Al Arab for that picture-perfect moment. It's ideal for a date night or when you have visitors in town. But that's not to say the food isn't top-notch too. Order from a range of mezze, raw dishes and salads, and follow it up with an indulgent lobster orzo to really make your night special. Four New Ways To Battle The Cthulhu Mythos Across Time And Space

The creatures of the Cthulhu Mythos are timeless foes. They were around when humanity first stood upright and they will be around when the last of our most important discoveries crumble into dust. Yet there are those who fight a hopless battle hoping to scrtach out one more day before their darkness consumed the world. Games like Call of Cthulhu, Arkham Horror Card Game and Delta Green give tabetop fans a chance to battle these horrible forces in thrilling ways. Here's a look at their latest offerings along with a new version of a classic party game tainted by the Mythos. These games are available online and through Friendly Local Game Stores. One of the most exciting parts of investigating the Cthulhu Mythos are cases that span different moments in time. Cthulhu By Gaslight is one of the most popular settings for Call of Cthulhu which opens up London in the late Victorian era as a new front for players and Keepers. The 7th Edition version features two new books, one geared for each side of the table. Cthulhu by Gaslight: Investigators' Guide offers players a fantastic resource on the historical details of the era. The rules allow investigators of every social class and how to bring them together for a game of supernatural mystery. It also includes extensive details on the rigid social classes of the era, who was breaking them and why. For more information on the darker side of the era, Cthulhu by Gaslight: Keepers' Guide deals with secret societies and the fascination with the occult many people had at the time. There are also Mythos cults and creatures that can be used in any game. The book rounds out with example scenarios ready to kick off a campaign. Cthulhu's first appearance came in H.P. Lovecraft's short story 'The Call of Cthulhu' pubkished in 1928. One of the segments of the story dealt with a sailor's encounter with The Great Old One on an island city called R'lyeh. The nightmare corpse city sank beneath the waves at the end of the story but it rises once again. The Drowned City Campaign Expansion sends Arkham Horror Card Game players to this horrible place. The storyline changes based on the decks they use and feature a final confrontation with Cthulhu. It's a climactic campaign option that long time fans will love. Players looking for the most up to date additions to their decks should check out The Drowned City Investigator Expansion. There are six new investigators to choose from including two that are entirely new to the Arkham Horror line. This set also introduces specialist cards that key off of specific traits for powerful game effects. Love Letter is a modern classic card game that tests players' powers of deduction in a fast, simple game that's easy to learn. It's a great choice for board game parties or as a game that can be brought to a pub. Arkham Horror: Lovecraft Letter puts a spooky spin on the game play making it a great choice for a Halloween party or fans of scary board games The major change is an extra layer of sanity versus insanity that's a core of many Mythos games. Players have to be careful in playing Mythos cards because while they offer more powerful abilities, they can eliminate a player from a round much more quickly. It's a great choice for fans of the original looking for a new dimension of game play. The agents of Delta Green form a conspiracy within the US Government to keep the world safe from Cthulhu Mythos incursions. This game mixes classic Cthulhu mysteries with modern conspiracies. It also shows the horrible effects a double life has on these brave, doomed humans. The most recent cases have been collected into a volume called God's Hunt. They can be used to expand the game's most recent campaign called God's Teeth or as stand alone investigations. In addition to hunting monsters, the scenarios also deal with real world issues like police corruption and mass shooting.
