2025-26 Tennessee men's basketball nonconference schedule

The 2025-26 men's basketball campaign will mark the 11th season for Tennessee under head coach Rick Barnes. He has compiled a 232–109 (111–66 SEC) record since 2015. Barnes guided the Vols to back-to-back NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearances from 2024-25. Tennessee will open its 2025-26 basketball season on Nov. 3 versus Mercer at Food City Center. "Each year, we work to create a nonconference schedule that best sets our team up for success and prepares us for SEC competition,' Barnes said. 'We feel we have once again done just that. In addition to four tough games we'll get on planes for, we look forward to playing nine here in the Volunteer state, including eight on our home court, in front of our incredible fans.' The 2025 NBA draft will be held Wednesday-Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, home of the Nets. The draft will be televised at 8 p.m. EDT by ESPN with the first round taking place Wednesday and the second round slated for Thursday. The first round will also be televised by ABC. Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier is projected as a second round pick. ESPN projects the former Vol to be selected No. 38 overall by the San Antonio. He played for the Vols during the 2024-25 season under head coach Rick Barnes, after transferring from North Florida. Lanier holds Tennessee's program record for three-point field goals made during a single season (123). He eclipsed Chris Lofton's record of 118 set during the 2007-08 season. He averaged 18.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game for Tennessee, helping the Vols reach the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight for the third time in school history. Lanier was a Second-Team All-SEC selection and was named SEC Newcomer and the Year. He was also a finalist for the John R. Lady Vols advance to Elite Eight for second consecutive year No. 10 seed Tennessee (20-7) advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA women's tennis tournament for a second consecutive season. The Lady Vols defeated No. 7 seed Virginia (22-6), 4-0, Friday at Boar's Head Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Lady Vols have advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight four times in program history. "Virginia is a great team, but I loved that we were able to come out here knowing what we are capable of," Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said. "For us to get the doubles point and have the fan support that we had was huge. In singles, you saw all six courts play really solid tennis. I am looking forward to going back and watching film. Could not be more excited about the team and where we're at." Tennessee will next face No. 2 seed Texas A&M in the Elite Eight.
