EV charging stations installed at Guldhar, Duhai Namo Bharat stations

After Sahibabad RRTS station, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have now been installed at Guldhar and Duhai Namo Bharat stations along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor . The National Capital Region Transport Corporation ( NCRTC ), which is implementing the corridor, plans to expand e-vehicle charging facilities at other stations as well. "With Guldhar and Duhai added, the total number of EV charging stations on the corridor has increased to three. These new fast-charging stations will offer improved and quicker charging," said an NCRTC official, adding that expansion at other stations is also underway. Each fast charger supports 50 kW high-voltage charging, enabling four-wheelers to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes. The Guldhar station can charge one vehicle at a time, while Duhai's station can charge two simultaneously. Both stations are equipped to serve various types of e-vehicles. Users can access these facilities via the "ElectreeFi" app, available on Google Play and Apple App Store. The app handles registration, slot booking, real-time charging status monitoring, and secure digital payments. "This initiative underscores NCRTC's commitment to clean energy and improved last-mile connectivity. It will benefit commuters and encourage EV adoption in nearby areas," the official added. Aligned with sustainability goals, NCRTC aims to meet 70% of the corridor's energy needs through solar power. Solar plants are being installed at all elevated stations and depots, targeting generation of about 11 MW of renewable energy . A 55-km stretch from New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) to Meerut South, comprising 11 stations, is already operational, with trial runs ongoing on the remaining corridor. Delhi-Meerut RRTS trials start, line may open soon

Ghaziabad: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the agency executing the 82-km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project, said the project is in the final stages with safety inspections underway for non-operational sections. It is likely to be operational for passengers soon, the corporation added. Officials said that safety inspections on different non-operational sections are underway and a formal inauguration will follow. (Sakib Ali/HT Photo) 'Recently, we conducted a successful trial run for the entire 82km corridor, and the train arrived at all stoppages between Sarai Kale Khan (in Delhi) and Modipuram (the last station in Meerut) in less than an hour. As things are progressing fast, we are hoping that the system will be operational very soon,' said NCRTC's chief public relation officer Puneet Vats. The 82-km project is aimed at connecting the cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut with Namo Bharat trains, and the project was scheduled to be completed in June, 2025. The train's journey from Meerut to Delhi will take 55 minutes once the entire 82km route gets operational. Currently, the train services are operational on a 55km stretch from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut (south), covering 11 stations with two in Delhi, eight in Ghaziabad and one in Meerut. The entire project has 24 stations, with 13 in Meerut. The Namo Bharat trains have four stations in Meerut, while the local Metro will operate on all 13 stations on the same infrastructure. Officials said that safety inspections on different non-operational sections are underway and a formal inauguration will follow. Safety inspections and final approval by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety are prerequisites before the commencement of any passenger operations, they added. 'The safety approval for a section from Meerut (south) to Shatabdi Nagar has been received, while inspections have started for the remaining section from Shatabdi Nagar to Modipuram. Likewise, the safety inspections from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Sarai Kale Khan are also in the final stages. The inspections for stations of the local Metro module in Meerut are also scheduled soon,' said an officer aware of the development. Officials said the main entry/exits at 13 non-operational stations are ready for passenger operations while the additional work will continue. The entire RRTS project is being built at a cost of ₹ 30,274 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid its foundation in Ghaziabad on March 8, 2019.

RRTS deadlock holds up new metro line's Cyber City station in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: Uncertainty over the exact location of the proposed rapid rail (RRTS) station at Cyber City has derailed integrated planning for the Gurgaon Metro project. The Gurgaon Metro station at Cyber City is to be integrated with RRTS and the existing Rapid Metro network. NCR Transport Corporation, which is building rapid rail, initially planned to construct the RRTS station on the green belt along the expressway near Shankar Chowk. But the industrial authority has shown reluctance in handing over the land, citing concerns over congestion, sources said. Th Gurgaon Metro station at Cyber City will be constructed under Phase 2 of the project. GMRL invited bids for geotechnical investigation on the 16km section of Phase 2 between Sector 9 and Cyber City last month. But with the RRTS stations caught in a bind, the location of Gurgaon Metro's station at Cyber City has not been decided. This is a key interchange. Planning for integration between the three systems — RRTS, Gurgaon Metro and Rapid Metro — is affected." NCRTC told TOI on Friday the location of the station at Shankar Chowk is "currently being discussed" in consultation with all key stakeholders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Outdoor Clothing | Designed to Perform. In Feb, senior officials from NCRTC, GMRL and HSIIDC visited Shankar Chowk to explore options for creating an integrated transport hub. The idea was to allow seamless passenger transfers between RRTS, the new metro corridor from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City and the existing Rapid Metro. Originally approved by Haryana govt in 2019, the alignment of the RRTS corridor, which followed the Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road, was revised in Aug 2023 to run along NH8. This realignment prompted GMRL to shift its metro route from the initial Rao Gajraj Singh Marg to an alternate alignment via Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road and Shankar Chowk Road. The move would reduce land acquisition hurdles, avoid defence land and boost ridership. However, the revised alignment hinges on the finalisation of the RRTS station location at Shankar Chowk. NCRTC requested land from HSIIDC for an underground station, but officials raised concerns about the impact on already heavy traffic volumes in the area, which caters to commuters from Udyog Vihar, Manesar and the Golf Course Road. Some of the greenbelt near Shankar Chowk was handed over to NHAI during the widening of the surface road. The new alignment includes 22 stations, passing through Cyber City, IFFCO Chowk and Signature Towers. However, the revised detailed project report is still awaiting approval from the Union cabinet. In Aug 2023, authorities decided to develop the Delhi-Gurgaon-SNB RRTS corridor in two phases—first from Sarai Kale Khan to Dharuhera and later extending to SNB. However, in a meeting chaired by Union minister for housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar and co-chaired by Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini last year, it was decided to develop the entire corridor at once. Meanwhile, momentum is building on other fronts of the metro project. A joint venture of Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting (DBEC) and Hill International has been shortlisted for the role of general consultant (GC) for the Gurgaon Metro. "Negotiations with the consortium were held in Chandigarh on Friday and the contract will be awarded shortly," the official said.

Namo Bharat: Lost and found centre opened at Ghaziabad station

NEW DELHI: The NCRTC on Tuesday launched a Lost and Found centre at Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station to help reunite commuters with items accidentally left behind or lost on trains or at stations along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. 'To date, more than 160 forgotten valuables of commuters have been returned to their rightful owners. The items include laptops, smartphones, watches, documents, wallets, earbuds, Bluetooth devices, luggage, iPads, keys, books, and clothes,' NCRTC official said. Namo Bharat train operations began in October 2023 and currently run along a 55 km stretch from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South. The government has also introduced the Namo Bharat Connect App, which enables commuters to report and track lost belongings through its 'Lost and Found' feature. Once an item is identified, owners can retrieve it at Ghaziabad station after verification or contact station controllers via the app or helpline (08069651515) for immediate assistance. 'Items lost at the station can be claimed within 24 hours,' the official added.
