Who Is Gunther's Wife? Personal Life Details of the WWE World Heavyweight Champion

Image via Getty Images Ask any WWE fan, and they will likely describe Gunther as one of the most intense and aggressive wrestlers in recent memory. Known for his thunderous chops and old-school European hard-hitting style, he has taken the WWE by storm, especially during his dominant second reign as World Heavyweight Champion on RAW. But beyond the ring, what is life like for the Austrian powerhouse? For those who may not know, Gunther is married to former professional wrestler Jinny Sandhu, whose real name is Jinny Hahn. She was a standout performer in WWE's NXT UK brand between 2018-2023, where Gunther famously held the title for a record-setting 870 days. Jinny also competed for promotions like Evolve and Revolution Pro-Wrestling (2016-2018) before a serious injury forced her to retire in 2023. All about Jinny Sandhu's Professional Wrestling Career and Personal Life As of July 2025, Jinny is 37 years old. She was born on September 28, 1987, in London, England, and is of South-Asian descent. The former pro-wrestler grew up in Knightsbridge and developed a passion for wrestling at the age of nine, as she shared in an interview with The British Wrestling Revival. She cited legends like Jushin Liger, Lita, Ted DiBiase, Sherri Martel, Victoria, and Trish Stratus as her early influences. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo In 2012, she earned a BSc in Psychology from Birmingham City University, as noted on her LinkedIn profile. She debuted in WWE on the NXT UK brand and beat the reigning AEW Women's World Champion, Toni Storm, in April 2017. Apart from that, Sandhu had memorable feuds with WWE mainstays like Rhea Ripley and Isla Dawn. Gunther and Jinny Sandhu got married in 2022 and celebrated their wedding with a ceremony attended by family and friends the following year, according to reports. The couple has known each other since their days on the independent wrestling circuit and began dating while working together in NXT UK. In December 2023, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy, and shared the news on social media. Coming back to Gunther's current run, 'The Ring General' is all set to defend his World Heavyweight title against Goldberg at Saturday Night's Main Event in Atlanta on July 12. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A recently released WWE star has commented on AEW running a show in his hometown, sparking conversation about his next move. The star in question is Joe Coffey, formerly of NXT's Gallus faction. AEW is scheduled to hold an episode of Dynamite in Glasgow, Scotland, in August. The event will take place at the OVO Hydro arena. Joe Coffey on AEW's Glasgow Show On a recent episode of the "Reffin' It Up" podcast (transcript from Fightful), Joe Coffey noted the significance of the upcoming AEW event. He pointed out that it is taking place in his hometown and in a familiar venue. "AEW have a show in my hometown in Glasgow on August 20th, which is very interesting," Coffey said. "And The Hydro, the same arena that ICW ran so, that's very interesting..." WWE Release and Scrapped Plans Joe Coffey, along with his Gallus stablemates Mark Coffey and Wolfgang, was released from his WWE contract on May 2, 2025. The Scottish faction had been a consistent presence on the NXT brand for several years. Following his release, Coffey revealed there had been discussions about Gallus moving to the main roster. The plan would have seen them working alongside fellow countryman Drew McIntyre. Joe Coffey's Current Status Despite the potential interest in the AEW Glasgow show, Coffey's immediate future has a significant hurdle. He has recently stated that he is "landlocked" in the United States. His work visa was tied to his WWE contract, complicating his ability to travel and wrestle internationally for now. Coffey first appeared in WWE during an NXT event at the Download Festival in 2018. He, his brother Mark, and Wolfgang officially formed Gallus on the January 9, 2019, episode of NXT UK. WWE broke into the United Kingdom wrestling scene, NXT UK, began with a championship tournament in January 2017, won by Tyler Bate. The brand officially launched its weekly show in October 2018, establishing a platform for European talent. NXT UK featured its own set of championships, including the prestigious United Kingdom Championship, famously held by GUNTHER (then WALTER) for a record 870 days. The brand developed future main roster stars like Rhea Ripley and Pete Dunne. In September 2022, the brand held its final event, Worlds Collide, unifying its titles with the NXT championships before going on hiatus. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

WWE champion Lyra Valkyria reveals star's horror injury was 'worst she's ever seen'

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstar Lyra Valkyria has hinted at the devastating extent of a recent injury. On Raw last week, Zoey Stark landed awkwardly and screamed in agony before being carried backstage, and it's not just fans who are concerned. Lyra, 28, exclusively told Metro that the painful moment was 'one of the worst injuries' she's ever witnessed. 'Everyone saw that. That was very, very shocking. I think that was one of the worst injuries, live, I've ever seen. And so my heart did break for her – and I've done my ACL. I know how tough it is,' she said. The current, and inaugural, Women's Intercontinental Champion – who is targeting a hometown moment in Dublin during WWE's Road To Clash In Paris Tour this summer – admitted the rest of the roster are waiting on an update. We haven't heard what the actual diagnosis of it is,' she added. 'Just going based off what it looks like, I really hope that she's okay mentally and physically coming through this.' Dublin-born Lyra has been through her own setbacks, tearing her ACL in 2021 on NXT UK against wrestling legend Meiko Satamura. 'I hope [Zoey] knows that the whole locker room is supporting her and hoping that she comes through this and somehow comes back,' she said. 'I can tell you from doing it once, my knee, that it's one of the hardest things that you'll ever go through mentally. Like, it's not even a physical thing.' For a wrestler, it's 'horrible' when you 'can't do the thing that you love'. She added: 'You're looking at everyone, you're dying to get back in there. When you feel like you can't do the thing that you were born to do, it's really horrible. But it also puts such a fire under you to come back better.' Lyra did just that, and made history as the first ever Women's IC Champ, before her short-lived WrestleMania dream team with Becky Lynch descended into an increasingly personal rivalry between the two Irish stars. They'll face off again at Money In The Bank on June 7, after a thrilling and physical battle at Backlash. 'That's probably the sorest I've been after any match,' Lyra laughed, reflecting on a bout that ended in victory, and a bloody nose. The clash was arguably match of the night on a stacked card, headlined by a 'last time ever' match between John Cena and Randy Orton. 'I'm getting extremely used to that feeling now of just knowing it's fight or flight, biggest show, biggest opportunity. I either have this or I don't, but I gotta just go,' she said excitedly. 'Randy Orton and John Cena [was a] full circle moment, considering they were two of the most highlighted people when I was growing up, two of the best to ever do this. 'But I was just looking at that card thinking, 'I have to hold my ground here and prove that I'm worthy of being on this. And then to have so many people saying 'match of the night', and to be commending it, I'm very proud of that one.' Lyra had no qualms about how real things got with Becky as they both went all-out in the ring, and she knows no other way. 'I'll sleep well at night if I know I've left everything I have in the ring,' she said. 'There's a certain level of confidence with that. When you know you're doing absolutely everything you can, it's almost like a peace of mind.' More Trending She's focused on building the Intercontinental Title's legacy, and August's SmackDown in Dublin, where she grew up watching house shows. 'Now, to be broadcasting live on Netflix, the 3Arena, it's going to be huge,' she beamed. 'I know exactly what it's like to be on the other side of the barrier. I hope I get to be a part of it.'
