‘JI will resist compromise on Kashmir'

RECORDER REPORT: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman has said that if the government and the establishment compromise on Kashmir to appease Trump, the nation will resist. He said the govt & opposition are engaged in politics of personal gain rather than principles and both come together like close allies when it comes to serving their own interests. He said they are united on Bajwa's extension & on increasing their own salaries. In Karachi, establishment prevented JI from having its mayor elected & imposed PPP mayor instead, he said. Those who trade Kashmir for business and dollars will be made a lesson by the nation, he said and added despite being repeatedly deceived by India, the rulers continue to fall for its traps. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views during the concluding address at a training session for party workers from Sheikhupura and Nankana districts, held at Mansoorah, Lahore. He said the American stooges have halted work on the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline, while Iran has already completed its part. Had the rulers truly cared about the people's hardships, the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline would have been completed by now, and oil would also be imported from Iran, he said. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that mega corruption scandals have already emerged in KP and Punjab, while Sindh has long been self-sufficient in corruption. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI government is in its 12th year, yet there is still no proper rescue system for those who drown in the Swat River. Politics has been hijacked by feudal lords, landlords, and capitalists. They come to power with the support of the establishment, and when they lose power, they start criticizing it, he elaborated. He said that Pakistan is facing a governance crisis. The entire judicial system is held hostage. Fake verdicts are obtained from the Supreme Court to serve political interests. Through a shameful decision, the Supreme Court distributed reserved seats among the ruling alliance, even though those seats rightfully belonged to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he said. Now it remains to be seen whether those who talk about principled politics will accept these seats or not, he added. He added that Jamaat-e-Islami's mandate was stolen in the general elections. Several of their won seats were given to other parties. The mayorship of Karachi was also stolen, said Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. He added that Syed Ali Geelani endured imprisonment and hardships for the freedom of Kashmir and spent his entire life fighting Pakistan's cause, yet our rulers never gave him the recognition he truly deserved. He stated that our ruling elite is afraid that if the real heroes are brought to light, there will be no place left for the fake ones. He further said that Emir Jamaat-e-Islami in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Abdul Hameed Fayaz, Asiya Andrabi, her ailing husband Qasim Faktoo, Yasin Malik, the ailing Shabir Shah, and hundreds of other leaders of the freedom movement have been imprisoned in Indian jails for years. Yet, the government of Pakistan is not raising their plight on any forum, which is not only regrettable but also condemnable, he concluded. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

JI urges govt to convene emergency OIC summit on ME

LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has urged the government to immediately convene an emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad, in light of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. Speaking at Mansoora on Friday, he stated that the recent acts of aggression in Gaza and Iran are being carried out under the patronage of the United States — a country he described as an enemy of the Muslim world. He stressed that the Muslim Ummah, along with peace-loving nations, must urgently adopt a joint strategy to counter US-Israeli aggression. 'After wreaking havoc in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US now appears determined to replicate the same destruction in Iran,' said Rehman. 'It [the US] continues to support India's blatant human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. Without Washington's backing, Israel holds no power — and yet, despite overwhelming international support for a ceasefire in Gaza, the US vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution aimed at ending the conflict. This is a deliberate push toward global warfare.' The JI chief reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan stand firmly with the people of Iran. He called on governments of Muslim countries to reject fear of American pressure and boldly represent the sentiments of the Ummah. Criticizing Islamabad's silence, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman noted that despite clear threats of an expanding war — including Israel's attacks on Iran and the US signalling deeper military involvement — the government has failed to take concrete steps. 'The entire Muslim world is looking to Pakistan for leadership,' he said. 'Islamabad must rise to the occasion and play a decisive role on the issues of Gaza and Iran. If the flames of war continue to spread, it will not only engulf the Middle East but also South Asia and beyond — a catastrophe that will be impossible to contain.' Rehman called on Muslim nations to set aside individual interests and unite for the collective good of the Ummah. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Kashmir dispute: JI advocates participation of Kashmiris in talks

LAHORE: A Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Majlis-e-Shura resolution while stressing immediate start of negotiations on Kashmir issue and including the real party Kashmiris in the dialogue process has demanded Pakistan to adopt a clear stance that no solution to Kashmir dispute is acceptable without the participation and will of the Kashmiri people. In result of the inclusion of the real party the dialogues will be more effective and result oriented, the resolution said, adding if this is not happened then the peace of South Asia will be destroyed due to the confrontation of the two nuclear armed powers and its effects will last for a long time. The resolution was presented by Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr Muhammad Mushtaq Khan. The three-day meeting of the newly elected Majlis-e-Shura chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman concluded on Sunday at Mansoorah. The Shura declared that India only understands the language of power and not negotiations. The resolution says that it has been proved in the recent war that India wanted to divert the world attention from Kashmir. It said India considered itself powerful but Pakistan's timely response not only resulted in its humiliation but also exposed its disgusting character at the international level. The resolution says that Pakistan in these circumstances instead of expressing any kind of weakness should speed up its efforts at diplomatic and armed front in favour of legitimate right of Kashmiris. It said that this is the opportunity for securing which the nations have to wait for years. It said that the Kashmiris expectations have been increased due to the excellent opportunity granted by Almighty Allah to Pakistan. At any level of negotiations the first and unwavering demand would be that India should restore prior 5th August 2019 (Article 370 and 35-A) position so that the Kashmir dispute should remain as dispute in front of the world. The Shura demanded that Pakistan should stress that if respect for the international peace, principles and justice is required then the Kashmiris should have to be given the right to self-determination, which has been guaranteed several times by United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The resolution says Pakistan and India temporarily agreed on ceasefire due to international pressure but India is an unpredictable country which has never fulfilled its promises. The resolution says that Pakistan while participating in any negotiation process should demand that India should end military siege of Jammu and Kashmir while considering it a basic issue. It said that India should end the human rights violations and allow entry of the human rights organizations and independent media in the state. The Kashmiri leadership incarcerated in detention centers from last many years should be released, India should quit efforts to construct damns to limit Pakistani share of water while respecting the Indus Water Treaty (IWT). The resolution says in the negotiations the international monitoring and mediation of IWT should be stressed. The resolution says that the meeting hopes that Pakistan will not let go in waste the best opportunity of freedom of Jammu and Kashmir. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

JI warns govt against using PECA

LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has emphasized the need to curb fake news but warned the government against using the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) as a cover to advance its malicious agenda. Talking to a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) led by its President Kazim Khan, he stressed that freedom of expression must be safeguarded at all costs. He announced that the JI would fully support journalist community in their struggle against the PECA law. 'Jamaat-e-Islami will participate in all journalist-led activities against the PECA Act.' The CPNE delegation included Secretary General Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Senior Vice President Ayaz Khan, Deputy Secretary Tanveer Shaukat, Chairman Media Freedom Committee Irshad Arif, former Secretary General Ijazul Haq, and Punjab Joint Secretary Waqas Tariq. JI Secretary General Ameerul Azeem and Information Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Turabi were also present at the meeting. Rehman stated that while the nation is currently unified and motivated following Pakistan's recent victory against India, laws like PECA would only breed unrest and disunity. He urged the government to immediately withdraw PECA and initiate broad-based consultations to draft new legislation through national consensus. Praising the role of Pakistani media during the recent India-Pakistan conflict, he said, 'Our media displayed professionalism and responsibility, unlike the Indian media which became a global laughingstock.' Kazim Khan and other CPNE delegates remarked that prior to the conflict, campaigns were being run against Pakistani media accusing it of irresponsibility and undermining national security. However, after the war, government and military spokespersons publicly acknowledged that Pakistani media acted with remarkable responsibility. Even the DG ISPR expressed gratitude to the media for its role. The JI leader also raised the issue of timely and fair salary payments to media workers, to which Kazim Khan agreed and assured that CPNE would include this demand in its official agenda.
