Punjab: Jalandhar drug peddler's house demolished
Jun 29, 2025 07:52 AM IST The Jalandhar Municipal Corporation (MC), in coordination with the police, on Saturday demolished an illegal construction belonging to a drug smuggler in Basti Gujan area on Saturday, officials said. The structure was razed by the authorities as part of the state government's ongoing drive to demolish encroachments under 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' (anti-drug war). Cops were deployed at the site to assist municipal officials during the drive. MCworkers at work in Basti Gujan area of Jalandhar on Saturday. Two Indonesian nationals with weed worth ₹21.55 cr arrested
Jun 29, 2025 07:34 AM IST MUMBAI: Two Indonesian nationals were arrested by the Oshiwara police on Thursday with 21.552 kg of hydroponic weed, valued at around ₹ 21.55 crore in the illicit market. (Shutterstock) Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a premises in Jogeshwari and seized the contraband. The accused arrested were identified as Budi Wiyono, 44, and Rakhmat Ardi Hidayat, 39. Hydroponic weed, or hydro weed, is cannabis typically grown indoors using a hydroponic method in a fully controlled environment, said officials. The police are trying to find where the accused had procured the weed from and where they planned to supply it. Indian arriving from Bangkok held with weed Customs officers apprehended an Indian national at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Friday after he arrived from Bangkok and recovered 5.119 kg of hydroponic weed from his checked-in baggage. They seized the contraband that carried an estimated illicit market value of ₹ 5.119 crore. The narcotics were seized as per the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The passenger was immediately arrested.

Jail commando in Ferozepur held for smuggling heroin concealed in shoe
Ferozepur: In a significant seizure under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Ferozepur police recovered 20 grams of heroin from a commando jail staff of Ferozepur Central Jail on Saturday. The accused security Commando has been identified as LR/HC Sukha Singh, a resident of village Malluwal under Jabbal police station in Taran Taran district. According to police sources, information was received from Tarsem Singh, assistant superintendent of the Central Jail, Ferozepur, who reported that commando LR/HC Sukha Singh, was found carrying narcotics during a security check while entering the entrance gate of the jail. The accused was discovered to be in possession of 20 grams of heroin from the sole of his left shoe. The matter is under investigation and a case has been registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. Further investigations in the case are on with Gurdeep Singh, assistant sub inspector, City police station, who is investigating officer (IO) in this case.

Srinagar Police attaches Rs 50 Lakhs worth property of notorious drug peddler under NDPS Act
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 28 (ANI): In yet another decisive action against the menace of drugs in society and to dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics network, Srinagar Police attached a residential property--comprising a two-storeyed house along with land--worth approximately Rs 50 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Bilal Ahmad Wani, under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS ) Act, as per a release. The accused person is involved in the case FIR No. 05/2025 under sections 8/20, 29 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj. The said property has been established as having been acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the immovable property has been formally seized and attached. The said property has been attached as per proper procedure under law. Furthermore, the said property shall not be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority. The accused person has a history of drug peddling and was actively involved in supplying narcotics, especially targeting the local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety. This action is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police's continued crackdown on drug trafficking networks. By targeting and dismantling the financial infrastructure of such networks, Police aim to curb the spread of narcotics and safeguard the community. Srinagar Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to eradicating drug abuse and appeals to the public for continued support. In another development, the Srinagar Police removed graffiti resembling a foreign flag painted on the road outside the Imambara Zadibal on June 24 and identified three local teenage girls as being involved in the act, according to an official statement. Acting promptly, a police team arrived at the scene and ensured the immediate removal of the Israeli flag to uphold communal harmony and maintain public order. A preliminary enquiry revealed the involvement of three local teenage girls (names withheld due to their age), all students and residents of the area. Given their age and the sensitivity of the incident, their parents were called to the police station, and the minors were counselled in their presence. As per the statement, the girls were made aware of the implications of such actions and were sensitised to the importance of upholding communal harmony and responsible civic behaviour. Legal action will follow, strictly in accordance with the juvenile justice framework. (ANI)
