Cultural and artistic events continued on Friday as part of the fifth edition of the Jordan Summer Festival 2025, organized by the Ministry of Culture. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Nidal Al-Ayasrah, said the festival serves as a cultural, artistic, and touristic occasion. Held weekly, the festival is part of Jordan's cultural industries and provides a platform to showcase Jordanian artists and creators. He added that the event includes a book fair aimed at encouraging reading and making books accessible to all social segments. The fair is an extension of the Family Library initiative, with books sold at symbolic prices below cost. Festival activities include face painting, traditional bazaars, balloon shows, DJ sessions, children's entertainment, and musical concerts. Friday's lineup featured performances by artists Yasmin Ahmad and Basil Khreissat, alongside a folkloric dance by the Yaman Al-Khair Cultural Association troupe. In Zarqa, the second week of festivities launched at Prince Mohammad Stadium, while in Ajloun, events at Al-Hussein Youth Camp drew families into a joyful atmosphere. Director of Ajloun Culture, Samer Freihat, emphasized the festival's role in boosting cultural tourism and supporting home-based businesses, offering them space to showcase their products. In Jerash, activities at Al-Hashimiyah Square attracted both official and public participation. Cultural Director Dr. Aqla Al-Qadri noted that the events cater to families and individuals, featuring folkloric shows, art exhibitions, and local handicraft and food stalls in collaboration with charities and local producers. The evening concluded with drone shows that lit up the sky with images of Jerash's ancient landmarks, the Jordanian flag, and notable local tourist sites. Meanwhile, in Mafraq, festivities kicked off at Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein Stadium with strong community turnout. The evening included face painting, bazaars, balloon releases, and children's entertainment, as well as musical performances by Fadi Rafat and Samer Anwar, and a traditional dance by the Sawt Al-Urdon troupe. Attendees expressed their gratitude to organizers for offering diverse programming that appeals to all age groups, enabling families to enjoy memorable and meaningful cultural experiences. — Petra News Agency

Amman & Governorates – The cultural and artistic events of the 2025 Jordan Summer Festival officially began on Friday evening, marking the launch of the festival's fifth edition, organized by the Ministry of Culture. Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the festival, first launched in 2019, aims to provide Jordanian families with a space for cultural and recreational engagement. Events include folkloric performances, concerts by local artists, children's activities like face painting and games, and bazaars featuring handicrafts and traditional products that support local families. Al-Ayasrah explained that the festival's events are held every Friday, rotating between the northern, central, and southern governorates, and will run through August 29, 2025. This year's program features diverse cultural and entertainment content designed to enrich community engagement. In Amman, venues hosting the events include the Roman Theater, Al-Jubeiha Gardens, the Royal Tank Museum, and Prince Mohammad Stadium. In Zarqa, events will be held at Russeifa Park; in Balqa at the Aqaba Bin Nafi Square; in Jerash at the Hashemite Square; in Ajloun at Al-Hussein Youth Camp; in Irbid at Al-Hassan Youth City; and in Mafraq at the Municipal Stadium. Southern governorates will host events at Prince Hashem City in Madaba, the Castle Square in Karak, Tafileh Sports Stadium, Princess Haya Sports Complex in Ma'an, the Petra Visitors Center, and the Great Arab Revolt Square in Aqaba. Jordan Summer Festival has become one of the Kingdom's most prominent cultural summer events, fostering community interaction and supporting the local cultural movement. On Friday evening, the festival lit up the Aqaba Bin Nafi Square in downtown Salt with a range of vibrant cultural and artistic performances. Mona Al-Saud, Director of Culture in Balqa, described the event as a cultural, artistic, and touristic occasion that is part of Jordan's cultural industries. She emphasized the festival's role in showcasing Jordanian artists and creators through folklore groups, bazaars, and children's entertainment—all offered free of charge and open to all age groups. Activities included face painting, heritage bazaars, balloon shows, DJ sessions, children's games, and musical performances by artists Martina Majdi and Amir Salah, as well as a folklore show by the Mafraq Arts Troupe. Meanwhile, the festival also launched in Ajloun at Al-Hussein Youth Camp with a festive atmosphere. Samer Freihat, Director of Culture in Ajloun, noted that the events aim to boost cultural and tourism activity while celebrating the rich cultural and heritage diversity of the governorate. Ammon News - The Director General of the National Library, Professor Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah, presented on Saturday evening a symposium on the Golden Jubilee of the National Library, organized by the Irbid Cultural Forum. The session was moderated by Dr. Khaled Al-Sharairi in the Forum building. Al-Ayasrah spoke about the National Library in terms of its origin and foundation, its role in preserving the national intellectual production, and the library indexes, as the indexes are used in the National Library in both the Library Services Directorate and the Documents and Documentation Directorate, and the book is searched for through the electronic library "the National Library Index and the Unified Jordanian Index." He pointed to the achievements, publications, and projects that the National Library has accomplished during the previous years.
