Real Madrid star Rodrygo has no interest in joining Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a deal for Real Madrid star Rodrygo. But in a big blow for Spurs, the 24-year-old has no interest in joining the North London outfit, per Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna. The Lilywhites reportedly made an inquiry for the Brazilian, but no talks are ongoing as the player is not keen to join them. Rodrygo's future at Madrid has become doubtful following the arrival of Xabi Alonso as manager. The forward was a key first-team member for Carlo Ancelotti, but barely featured in the FIFA Club World Cup under Alonso. Rodrygo has three years left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, but the Spanish giants are open to letting him leave. Tottenham have signed Mohammed Kudus, Matheys Tel, Luka Vuskovic, Kevin Danso and Kota Takai so far this summer. But they are not done yet as they aim to bring in further reinforcements for Premier League and Champions League campaigns in 2025-26. Son Heung-min is expected to leave Tottenham amid interest from MLS side Los Angeles FC. Spurs are ready to cash in on the South Korean, who has just a year left on his contract. With Son expected to depart, Tottenham are looking to make a marquee addition to the squad. They identified Rodrygo as an ideal option, but it appears the 24-year-old has no intention of joining them. Stats from Transfermarkt

Ranked: Every Arsenal player to wear 14 since Thierry Henry

Viktor Gyokeres is closing in on a move to Arsenal and the forward is understood to be set to wear an iconic shirt. Gyokeres has reportedly chosen to wear the number 14 shirt, best associated with Thierry Henry. Henry scored a club-record 228 goals for the Gunners over two spells in North London, winning a joint-record four Premier League Golden Boots. Arsenal will hope Gyokeres can prove similarly prolific, in the shirt that Henry popularised during his time with the club. Ahead of the announcement of Gyokeres's move to Arsenal, we've ranked the player to wear the number 14 shirt for the club since Henry's exit in 2007. All stats are while wearing the number 14 shirt Ranked: Every Arsenal player to wear 14 since Thierry Henry 3. Eddie Nketiah – 106 games, 25 goals The Hale End graduate was given the number 14 shirt ahead of the 2021/22 campaign. Despite a prolific record for Arsenal and England at youth level, Nketiah struggled to break in as a first-team regular with the Gunners. He made just 27 league starts over three seasons wearing the number 14, before departing to sign for Crystal Palace in 2024. 2. Theo Walcott – 326 games, 100 goals Theo Walcott dealt with inevitable Thierry Henry comparisons from the moment he signed for Arsenal from Southampton. The forward's game contained similar traits to the Gunners great, most notably the electric speed to get away from defenders. Walcott never quite reached the initial heights expected upon his emergence, but he was a fine servant for Arsenal. He made almost 400 appearances for the North Londoners in all competitions and netted a century of goals after inheriting the 14 shirt. 1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 163 games, 92 games Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became Arsenal's record signing after arriving from Borussia Dortmund in a £56m deal in January 2018. The Gabon international made an instant impact, scoring on his debut against Everton and netting 10 times in his first 13 league appearances. Aubameyang posted a prolific record during his time at Arsenal, scoring 92 times in 163 games before an unceremonious exit. That return included winning the Premier League's Golden Boot in 2018/19, becoming one of just two Arsenal players, alongside Robin van Persie, to win the award since Henry. Report: Gunners tracking three attacking options for final summer move

Arsenal Eye Triple Attack Boost: Rodrygo, Eze and Gordon on Arteta's Radar Ambition Still Burning Bright at Arsenal Despite an already proactive summer transfer window, Arsenal remain firmly on the front foot in the market. As reported by CaughtOffside via journalist and Gunners expert Charles Watts, the North London club 'are looking' at three more attacking options: Real Madrid's Rodrygo Goes, Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze, and Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon. With four key additions already secured—Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga—the Gunners are clearly not content to stand still. The club are also 'on the verge' of securing a deal for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. Focus on Left-Sided Creativity According to Watts, Arsenal's next move could centre around a left-sided attacker. He stated: 'We know they are looking at options for that left-sided attacking role, with Eberechi Eze, Rodrygo and Anthony Gordon believed to be of interest.' Photo IMAGO Each of the three names brings a distinct skill set: Rodrygo, with his Champions League pedigree; Eze, a silky technician who excels in tight spaces; and Gordon, whose relentless energy and directness have made him a standout at Newcastle. What's notable is Arsenal's clear attempt to balance long-term project building with players who can contribute immediately. This nuanced recruitment strategy—targeting high-ceiling talents with top-flight experience—reflects Arteta's evolution from a promising manager to an elite one. Charles Watts: 'There is still scope to bring in one more' Despite the volume of deals already done, Watts insists there may be more movement before the window slams shut. 'I do still feel like there is scope to bring in one more new addition before the window closes, however. There is still a long time left in the market and it wouldn't shock me if Arsenal still look to do something.' His comments hint that Arsenal are not finished fine-tuning their squad—and suggest that any of Rodrygo, Eze or Gordon could still walk through the Emirates doors. Nwaneri Contract Unlikely to Disrupt Plans Some have speculated that Ethan Nwaneri's recent contract renewal may reduce the need for another attacking midfielder. But Watts downplayed that impact, saying: 'Whether Nwaneri's new deal puts a stop to that I'm not sure, but I really don't believe it should.' It's a fair point—Nwaneri remains a long-term prospect. Arsenal's interest in proven senior attackers reinforces their intent to compete now, not just in the future. Our View – EPL Index Analysis From an Arsenal fan's perspective, this report feels both exciting and pragmatic. The idea of adding Rodrygo, Eze, or Gordon suggests Arteta wants more unpredictability and dynamism in the final third. All three players could rotate fluidly across the frontline—an essential trait for the manager's positional play system. Rodrygo would be a blockbuster signing, adding flair and European pedigree. His arrival would feel like a signal of intent akin to when the club brought in Ødegaard permanently. Eze, meanwhile, might be the fan-favourite pick. His ability to glide past players and unlock low blocks is something Arsenal struggled with in key games last season. Gordon feels more divisive—his price tag and temperament split opinion, but no one can question his intensity and willingness to press from the front. Ultimately, the fact that Arsenal are still looking—even after strengthening key areas—shows how high the bar has been set. After pushing Manchester City to the limit last season, the club seems committed to ensuring it won't be second best again.

Tottenham considering £15m transfer offer from LAFC for captain Son Heung-min – but he won't leave before tour

TOTTENHAM are considering a £15million offer for captain Son Heung-min. The South Korea star's future in North London is in doubt with him being a target for LAFC. 9 9 9 9 Spurs have already been active in the transfer market for new manager Thomas Frank. The club have brought in West Ham attacker Mohammed Kudus and are interested in Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. Son, 33, could head for the exit door as SunSport understands Spurs would accept an offer between £15m and £20m. A potential switch to the MLS would still rely on the Europa League winner agreeing to the move. The former Bayer Leverkusen ace could instead decide to stay and fight for his spot at N17. Son is involved in the discussions over the transfer with all parties. However, a move will be immediate as Son is likely to stay at Spurs for their fixtures during the pre-season tour of Asia. Last season's 17th-placed Premier League finishers face Newcastle in Seoul, South Korea on August 3. This match follows on from the North London derby against Arsenal in Hong Kong. If Spurs were to sell Son before facing the Toon, they would then forfeit up to 75 per cent of the fee they would receive for playing. Son Heung-min hit in head by TROPHY as Tottenham celebrate Europa League victory over Man Utd Son is down as a "key player" in the contract for the touring Premier League side. If he were to travel with the squad but not play, then Spurs would be docked half their fee. The South Korean international is hugely popular in his homeland and wider Asia. Last season, Son scored seven times and assisted nine goals in 30 Premier League appearances. 9 9 Despite the club's shocking performance domestically, Son did become the first captain to lift a trophy since Ledley King in 2008. Frank has spoken about Son's future and appears to be happy if he decides to stay. He said: "Right now, I have a player who is fully committed and training well. "If a player has been at a club a long time, then there will always be a decision for the club to take." As well as Kudus, Spurs have already signed Japanese ace Kato Takai and made Mathys Tel 's loan from Bayern Munich permanent. The club has also welcomed young defender Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split. Their pursuit of Gibbs-White is at a standstill despite triggering his £60m release clause. Forest have halted the transfer after claiming the approach from Spurs was "illegal". 9 9

Like what you see, Myles? Excited Lewis-Skelly celebrates Arsenal's imminent signing of Viktor Gyokeres by imitating striker's celebration - ahead of £64m transfer from Sporting

Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly was seen imitating Viktor Gyokeres' trademark mask celebration on Tuesday after it emerged that he was nearing a move to the Gunners. In a video originally posted to Instagram by Lewis-Skelly's team-mate Josh Nichols, the former was captured copying Gyokeres' celebration - which sees him mimic pulling a mask over his face. Lewis-Skelly, 18, was also seen holding up his phone in reaction to Fabrizio Romano's post after Arsenal and Sporting CP were revealed to be 'on the verge of a total agreement' by The Athletic in a transfer worth £64million. Gyokeres is expected to sign a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium and conclude the saga in the coming days after a breakthrough in negotiations surrounding the precise nature of the bonus-related add-ons, beyond the guaranteed fee of £55m. The 27-year-old Sweden international has had his heart set on a move to North London despite strong interest from elsewhere. He was rumoured to be reuniting with his former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, only for the Manchester United manager to have reportedly angered him. Lewis-Skelly is buzzing with the signing of Viktor Gyokeres 🤣🤣🤣 — george (@StokeyyG2) July 22, 2025 According to Portuguese outlet Record, Gyokeres was upset with the manner in which Amorim jettisoned his Swedish compatriot Victor Lindelof. The two players share the same agent in Turkish businessman Hasan Cetinkaya, with Lindelof said to have maintained a desire to remain at Old Trafford had he been offered a new deal by the club. Cetinkaya was also allegedly angered by Amorim's treatment of the centre-back given that he persuaded Gyokeres to work under the current United boss at Sporting. Gyokeres chose the Portuguese side despite offers from eight Premier League clubs claimed to have been interested in him in the summer of 2023. Competition for his signature came after an impressive two-year spell at Championship side Coventry City. That saw Sporting break their transfer record as they spent £18million to sign him from the Sky Blues. But he now looks to be on the move again after already refusing to train as he seeks a move away from the Portuguese capital following a remarkable scoring record of 68 goals in 66 league appearances across two campaigns. Amorim's side did appear to be contenders but a lack of Champions League football, uncertainty over the club's financial situation and Gyokeres' lack of conviction over the state of a team that finished 15th in the Premier League put them out of the race. Despite those factors, United did not appear to be deterred, with Record claiming that United submitted previous bids to Sporting above those sent by Arsenal. However, the Swede was claimed to have remained firm in his stance that he only wants to play for the Gunners next season following their interest in him. Gyokeres has previously spoken of his desire to return to the English top flight, to atone for his fruitless loan spell he endured at Brighton. He played just eight times, scoring only once, in three-and-half-years on Brighton's books, which saw him loaned out to St. Pauli and Swansea City before he ended up at Coventry and then Sporting.
