Gardaí arrest man (40s) following death of pensioner in Limerick city assault
The man, in his 70s, died following the incident at Watergate at approximately 11.30pm. He had been rushed to University Hospital Limerick with life-threatening injuries where he died earlier today. The scene in Watergate has been preserved for technical and forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Office of the State Pathologist and local Coroner have been notified. A post-mortem examination has been arranged. A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation. The man who was arrested is being held at a garda station in Limerick city under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Anyone who was in the Watergate area of Limerick city on Thursday, July 10 between 11.15pm and 12am and who may have any information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigating gardaí. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make that footage available. Gardaí arrest man after another man (30s) killed in assault at Dublin home
Gardaí were alerted to the incident at a home in the Shancastle area at around 5.50am on Monday morning. The man was found unresponsive and brought to John Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead. The scene is preserved while gardaí carry out an examination. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have both been notified, with a postmortem set to be carried out. A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been set up at Lucan garda station. A Family Liaison Officer will be assigned to support the family of the victim. The man who was arrested in connection with the investigation is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a garda station in the Dublin area. Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also appealing to anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dashcam footage from the area between 5am and 6am on Monday, July 7 to contact them. Man arrested after man, 30s, dies following Dublin assault
A man has been arrested following an assault in Dublin in which a man aged in his 30s was found unresponsive. Gardaí said they were alerted to an assault at a residence in the Shancastle area of Dublin 22 at around 5.50am on Monday. A man, aged in his 30s, was found unresponsive. He was taken to John Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead. Gardaí said a man, also aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the investigation. He is currently detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda station in the Dublin area. The scene is currently preserved for gardaí to carry out a technical examination of the scene. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed, and an autopsy will take place in due course. A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed who will lead the investigation from an incident room at Lucan Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned.
