Ops Samseng Jalanan: 11 motorcycles seized, 65 summonses issued in Petra Jaya

KUCHING (July 21): A total of 11 motorcycles were seized and 65 summonses issued during the 'Ops Samseng Jalanan' integrated operation conducted last Saturday at Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakob, Jalan Astana, and Masja in Petra Jaya. Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation aimed to crackdown on road bullies and ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations. 'During the operation, 11 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987, as they were found to have been modified from their original structure and will undergo further inspection,' he said in a statement today. He added that Department of Environment (DOE) enforcement officers also inspected motorcycles emitting noise levels exceeding the permitted threshold, resulting in six riders being fined by the department. Alexson warned that such operations will continue, reminding road users to obey the law, refrain from engaging in street gangsterism, and refrain from illegally modifying their vehicles. Kuantan police issue 139 traffic summonses in overnight operation
KUANTAN: Police issued 139 traffic summonses and sealed 19 motorcycles during an eight-hour operation codenamed 'Ops Samseng Jalanan,' which ended at 6 am today. The operation, conducted in the city and along Jalan Kuantan Bypass, targeted various traffic offences. Acting Kuantan police chief Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud confirmed that 60 motorcycles were seized during the operation. A couple was arrested for performing a wheelie on a Honda EX5 motorcycle. 'The rider is a 20-year-old self-employed man, while the pillion rider is a 24-year-old woman, also unemployed. Both were arrested and taken to the Kuantan traffic police station for further action under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,' he said in a statement today. The operation, which began at 10 pm yesterday, proceeded smoothly without any incidents. The operation was carried out in the city and on Jalan Kuantan Bypass from 10pm on Saturday to 6am this morning. Acting Kuantan police chief Superintendent Mohd Adli Mat Daud said a total of 60 motorcycles were seized during the operation. He said a couple was arrested for performing a wheelie while riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle. "The rider is a 20-year-old self-employed man, while the pillion rider is a 24-year-old unemployed woman. "Both were arrested and taken to the Kuantan traffic police station for further action under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said in a statement today.
