
Ops Samseng Jalanan: 11 motorcycles seized, 65 summonses issued in Petra Jaya
KUCHING (July 21): A total of 11 motorcycles were seized and 65 summonses issued during the 'Ops Samseng Jalanan' integrated operation conducted last Saturday at Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakob, Jalan Astana, and Masja in Petra Jaya.
Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation aimed to crackdown on road bullies and ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
'During the operation, 11 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987, as they were found to have been modified from their original structure and will undergo further inspection,' he said in a statement today.
He added that Department of Environment (DOE) enforcement officers also inspected motorcycles emitting noise levels exceeding the permitted threshold, resulting in six riders being fined by the department.
Alexson warned that such operations will continue, reminding road users to obey the law, refrain from engaging in street gangsterism, and refrain from illegally modifying their vehicles.

Three motorcyclists killed in Seremban expressway pile-up
SEREMBAN: Three motorcyclists were killed and 12 others injured in a massive pile-up involving 15 motorcycles, a car, and a lorry on the North-South Expressway early this morning. The accident occurred at KM262.5 northbound near Seremban around 2.30 am. Initial police investigations revealed that the crash began when three motorcycles at the front of a convoy collided, causing a chain reaction. 'Twelve motorcycles behind them were unable to avoid the fallen riders, leading to multiple collisions,' said Seremban district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din. Twelve others were rushed to Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar, with two in critical condition in the ICU. Mohamad Hatta confirmed that the bodies were sent to Hospital Rembau for post-mortem. He said this prompted the other driver to overtake the male driver from the left lane and immediately enter the right lane with the Proton Wira 1.3GL behind her. ACP Balveer said the male driver then hit the rear part of the right side of the woman's car, adding the male driver failed to apply his brakes. He added that this then caused him to hit the road dividers. "Both drivers tested negative for drugs and driving while intoxicated," he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. SEREMBAN: A collision between three motorcycles is believed to have caused a chain reaction which resulted in the death of three motorcyclists and 12 others being injured along the North South Expressway near the Seremban exit early today. Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the incident occurred at around 2.30am at KM 262.5 (northbound), when a convoy of motorcyclists was enroute to Kuala Lumpur from Senawang. "Early investigations revealed the riders were traveling in a group using the middle and right lanes of the highway when three motorcycles at the front collided with one another," he said in a statement today. He said the initial crash caused the riders to fall on the road, triggering a domino effect as 12 other motorcycles travelling behind slammed into them. "All those involved were thrown off the motorcycles. "A car and a lorry traveling along the same route were also hit in the rear and right side by several of the motorcycles," he said adding that the accident resulted in the deaths of three motorcycists who were pronounced dead at the scene. "The remaining 12 injured riders were rushed to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban. Two of them are in critical condition and are currently being treated in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU)," he said, adding that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Rembau Hospital's Forensics Department for post-mortem. Hatta urged motorcyclists to ride responsibly, avoid excessive speeding and refrain from weaving in and out of traffic, stressing that reckless riding can lead to fatal consequences.
