Latest report contradicts previous rumors about vivo V60's launch date and OS
Last week, we heard that the vivo V60 will launch in India on August 19 with OriginOS, making it the first vivo smartphone in the country to run Funtouch OS instead of OriginOS, which is currently China-exclusive. A new report contradicts those leaks, claiming that the vivo V60 will debut in India on August 12 and run Funtouch OS based on Android 16. Additionally, the source claims that the vivo V60 will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC and have UFS 2.2 storage onboard without specifying the storage capacity. The smartphone will feature a 6.67" 120Hz 1.5K AMOLED display with 1,300-nit peak brightness. vivo V60's leaked renders The vivo V60 is said to have four cameras - a 50MP selfie camera on the front and a triple camera setup on the rear, comprising a 50MP primary, a 50MP periscope telephoto (3x optical), and an 8MP ultrawide unit. Other rumored specs of the vivo V60 include a 6,500 mAh battery, 90W charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers. The smartphone is also rumored to have IP68 and IP69 ratings and is expected to be priced between INR37,000 and INR40,000. If all this sounds familiar, it's because the vivo V60 is expected to be a version of the vivo S30, which was launched in China in May. Source

Vivo may ditch FunTouch OS for OriginOS in India, starting with V60 series
Vivo is reportedly planning to bring its Android-based OriginOS user interface globally, including in India. According to a report by Gizbot, the Chinese smartphone maker may debut the Android 16-based OriginOS version with the upcoming Vivo V60 series, marking the first time the UI expands beyond its home market. Until now, OriginOS has been exclusive to Vivo devices in China, while global variants shipped with FunTouch OS. The latter has often faced criticism for its basic animations, inconsistent navigation, and limited customisation options compared to its Chinese counterpart. Expanding OriginOS to global markets could help Vivo deliver a more unified and refined software experience across regions while also accelerating update rollouts. The report suggests that Vivo's Android 16-based OriginOS will first launch in India with the Vivo V60 series, which is expected to debut next month. Once launched, the new interface is likely to replace FunTouch OS on eligible devices through future software updates. Vivo's OriginOS in India: What to expect While Vivo has not officially previewed the Android 16-based OriginOS, the UI is expected to include features from previous iterations. These include AI-powered tools such as the Blue Heart Little V Assistant, which allows users to drag and drop images or files for processing, and improved natural voice interactions via Jovi Voice. Another key feature is Atomic Island, which provides real-time activity tracking and intelligent content suggestions based on copied content. Additionally, the AI-powered call assistant can handle real-time translation and call summaries, and even answer calls on behalf of users — a feature not currently available in FunTouch OS. Beyond AI tools, the new version is also expected to bring smoother animations, redesigned UI elements, updated app icons, and more customisation options across the system. Vivo V60: What to expect According to the report, Vivo V60 could launch in India on August 19. The smartphone is expected to sport a 6.67-inch OLED display of 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip and could pack a 6,500mAh battery with support for 90W wired charging. Vivo To Finally Launch Phones With OriginOS Outside Of China? Here's What We Know
Last Updated: Vivo launched its new foldable in the country this month and soon we could see its OS experience change in India as per new reports. Vivo phones have launched with Funtouch OS in markets like India and other regions for many years. The company has the OriginOS available for its devices in China. The experience of using Funtouch and OriginOS has been claimed to be stark, and many people have asked the company to bring the latter to more regions with its phones. And it seems Vivo is going to oblige to their requests after all these years. New details via a tipster this week suggests Vivo's next phone launch could be the first to come with OriginOS outside of China. The news about Vivo bringing OriginOS to India has been shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav in a post on X this week. His source has even suggested that the new version will be based on Android 16 and launch with the rumoured Vivo V60 model in the region. ExclusiveVivo V60 is launching in India on August 19, 2025!The same source also reveals that OriginOS based on Android 16 will debut in India alongside the launch. — Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) July 15, 2025 The OriginOS available in China does not have Google Play Store or any other Google services, which Vivo will have to integrate if the OS releases in India. We have previously asked Vivo about its plans to replace Funtouch OS with OriginOS in India and most times the brand has talked about studying the feasibility of making it happen without ever giving us a clear timeline. If Vivo does bring OriginOS to the market next month with the V60 model, we expect the teasers and news about the development to go mainstream in the next few weeks. The company launched its X Fold 5 flagship foldable and the X200 FE compact phone in the Indian market earlier this month, and having OriginOS running on them will surely be a game changer. Most of our Vivo reviews have said good things about the hardware, and even though Funtouch OS has gotten better over the years, the impact of OriginOS for the company could be much higher, especially when people already know about its experience through videos from China. We'll be keeping a close eye on these details and hope the tipster has got his sources spot on. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
